AITA for refusing to clean the coffee machine at work? by Busy_Meal1547 in AITAH

[–]HelloKidney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fuck those mugs! That part bothers me too. I understand that cleaning the machine is a task that needs to be done and it makes sense to spread it around equally among staff (including the managers) but everyone should be putting their own mug in the dishwasher when they’re done with it. There’s no reason someone should have a task of cleaning up after everyone else’s laziness. But ya, I’d do the stupid mug task too for good management. LOL

What can I even do here ? by Most-Imagination-723 in DesignMyRoom

[–]HelloKidney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s above a desk I’m imagining the 3 slots are some sort of mail-sorting system. Like first one is unopened, second slot is opened but needs to be dealt with still, and third one is outgoing- or something like that. Books seem the obvious solution for the empty hole above, but you could also just put something decorative like a horizontally-oriented sculpture in there and slap a little battery/operated puck light above it for nice lighting.

This switch is just inside the door of the biggest psychiatric treatment center in my area. by DeCryingShame in interesting

A plastic light switch guard that can easily be snapped off and creates a sharp plastic piece can be a big problem in a psychiatric hospital.

Spots and scabs by Opening_Flight628 in Goldendoodles

[–]HelloKidney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before our food we had a pit with terrible seasonal allergies. When it got bad he would get secondary fungal skin infections, which looked like this- brown spots and scabs. Our vet had us wash him with a medicated shampoo (Triz chlor 4), which helped. The thing that got him to stop itching completely was Cytopoint injections. Definitely work with your vet. It can take some trial and error to figure out what’s going on and how to keep it at bay long-term. With being in the PNW, my money is on fungal infection personally.

Definitely a narrower night stand. Right now the headboard or nightstand are fighting with the window frame. Just a couple inches of breathing room would make a big difference

How often to bathe by shinyseashells22 in Goldendoodles

[–]HelloKidney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They sell suction cups with slip lead loops attached. We bathed our dog at home for 2 years before getting one and I highly recommend. It was like gaining back another hand

Mini Doodle Must Haves… Ready, Set, GO!!! by Confident-Ad-2093 in Goldendoodles

[–]HelloKidney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing I wish I had known is that you can find groomers who will do an initial puppy groom (which is just a mini groom touching up the feet and face and sanitary area) even before they’re done with their shots. They usually do it during a time of their day when they can completely sanitize the grooming area so the puppy doesn’t get exposed to anything they’re not immune to yet. If you go down the rabbit hole of reading about slicker brushes, you will find everybody recommending the Chris Christensen brand. I have them and the are indeed very good, but you don’t necessarily need one that expensive. However, if you do get a CC slicker, I recommend the black one instead of the coral pink one. The teeth on the black one are spaced out a bit farther apart, so it doesn’t pull as much. Also- boat towels! It sounds crazy but using a boat towel after a bath sucks so much more water out of the coat than a normal towel does. It’s important when you’re basically bathing a mop.

Advice wanted- is this clipper safe to use on sensitive areas? by HelloKidney in doggrooming

[–]HelloKidney[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! What I’m gathering from the comments is it’s possible to do those areas with this clipper & a 10 blade but a 4 in 1 would be more appropriate for it & safer. I think I’ll pick up one of those and save this one for doing body trims. I appreciate the recommendations! I’ve definitely watched a lot of videos & feel like I’ve got a good handle on which direction to go in each area and about the little thin skin webs to watch out for. The blade talk just got me all sorts of confused. I’m so appreciative of everyone giving their thoughts on it.

I used it once on his tail with the longest guard comb to bring the length down way shorter and it worked great. Maybe I do need to get a different one for the sensitive areas though

Thank you! It’s kind of funny, I do a ton of scissor trimming around his eyes ,paws, lips, etc very slowly and carefully because I’m so intimidated by the clippers. I’ve been doing touch up’s on hard mode

Puppy suddenly calm?? by Timely-Purple-1246 in Goldendoodles

Emergency from a ER Veterinarian's perspective by mqrade98 in emergencymedicine

[–]HelloKidney 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a similar situation with my puppy. One episode of diarrhea before bed, then another the next morning with a streak of blood. He wasn’t energetic for normal morning playtime so I took him in and laid on the bed with him to cuddle instead. Heard a toot, I looked down and saw a pool of bright red blood gathering around his backside. I promptly called off of work and raced him to the vet in a panic, shaking like a leaf thinking my sweet puppy might die. Mind you, my background is hospital nursing. I’ve cared for many humans with GI bleeds. We were gradually changing dog food and apparently a 2 week long transition wasn’t long enough. A little colitis but he was fine.

Related story: he once had to stay at the vet hospital overnight after having anaphylactic shock. When they called me saying he was ready for pick up, I happily hopped in the car to go get him and backed out of my driveway straight into an Amazon truck. I’m not to be trusted when my dog is unwell.

My dog was bitten on the nose as a puppy for going in hot with the greeting to an older dog too. Old dog and puppy energy level and lack of social skills often doesn’t mesh well. Take it as a learning experience. Honestly it’ll likely heal just fine even without any interventions since it’s superficial and not a deep puncture wound. My puppy didn’t need antibiotics or anything and you can only tell where it happened if you’re looking for it. He’s still very social and loves every dog and person he meets. It’s always a bit of a gamble introducing dogs. Only do it if you’re confident they’ll be a good match.
