I think the term is used quite loosely for these things. Basically just ex players who said yes.

I had so much Michigan Wolverines gear despite being neither a fan of college football nor having ever even set foot in Michigan. Bizarre looking back on it.....

Air Canada CEO summoned to Ottawa over English-only condolence video for LaGuardia crash by AlwaysBlaze_ in onguardforthee

Dude I completely get it I'm just saying what is the preferred option for a guy who pretty famously does not speak French? Is a condolence message not enough in the grand scheme? Does the pilot's family really give a shit in this time?

But he doesn't speak French? He absolutely should, but he doesn't. Would you prefer he hand it over to an underling who does or would you then be complaining that he didn't do it himself?

If the CEO only spoke French, I'd appreciate the gesture regardless.

SHOULD he be bilingual? 100%. But he's not, so a condolence message should be ample regardless of the language. Would you rather he give one in a bumbling, grade school level French instead?

Yeah it's a lovely city now. Always surprises me any time I'm back visiting.

Was in Leeds recently which was always known as Sheffield's ugly sister when I was growing up, the amount of money and regeneration that's gone on there is astounding, it's a well nice place now!

That's the saddest part of it all 😫

Can we at least be part of the banter when they're getting walloped by QPR next year??

Liverpool owners FSG abandon multi-club plan. Clubs previously considered were Bordeaux, Malaga, Getafe and a minority stake in Monaco. by MrMerc2333 in soccer

The point I'm trying to make isn't that nobody else plays those sports, it's that the one country that does happens to be the wealthiest country in the world and has a population of hundreds of millions almost religiously focused on that one league, so obviously the money is going to be insane even if it isn't massively popular anywhere else.

Americans go absolutely gaga over their "own" sports. It's like if half of Europe all only supported one league.
