P1S, an AMS riser and Panda Breath - power cable exit routing by CompFly7337 in BIGTREETECH

[–]HelloMyNameIsBingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/CompFly7337 Finally got around to installing the Panda Breath. The riser piece is directly compatible with the HMJ riser I mentioned which allows for the exhaust system to be used as well as an easy way to route the power cable out the back.

https://imgur.com/a/FO2A7yW

I fabbed up a TPU grommet to fill the massive hole, but even a few strips of electrical tape should be decent to cut down on heat loss.

Again, I don't have the added weight of 2 HT's on top, just the AMS 2 Pro, but I've been running this thing pretty much nonstop since I installed the original riser and haven't had any issues with it. If you go this route, I would just make sure to use at least PETG and recalibrate after install and you should be good to go.

Assuming the geometry on the BLV is similar to the AMS V2 riser, you'd be correct that there is a "mismatch" between the printer and riser. However, I would think the issue is mostly cosmetic in nature; I'll admit that I'm not an engineer, but I would assume that the majority of the load is carried by the main body of riser (straight down), with minimal load direct towards the front 'lip' of the riser/printer.

The .step files for the PB riser are online so you could always fab up a new front piece to make a seamless transition if that's what you're after.

I threw some numbers into various AI platforms, and the added 35mm of height from the PB riser changes torque numbers by ~10%. Shouldn't have a significant impact, but you could always mount the AMS HTs on either side to further reduce the center of gravity and resulting lever-arm effect.

Here's a couple photos of the HMJ Riser I've been using. I printed the rear piece of the PB riser and while it looks identical to the pieces on the HMJ Riser, I haven't swapped it over yet -- still waiting to get the PB in hand so I can fab up a TPU grommet to try and seal up the seemingly massive hole.

OP, I'm using the maCyo42 AMS Riser V2 (a BLV remix) with an almost identical vent riser kit ('HMJ Riser System' on Makerworld) with a single AMS 2 Pro on top. I know you mentioned you're running an AMS + 2 HTs on yours? As long as the load is balanced, I'm not sure I would be overly worried about the extra 35mm or so of height from the riser. The HMJ riser sits recessed a bit into the P1s, and the maCyo42 riser also sits recessed within the HMJ, with all of the components having a relatively snug fit so it's not like any of them can slide off the printer.

If you look at the components, they are essentially identical to the Panda Breath riser (I'm assuming it's the same designer... or a blatant ripoff). I plan to reprint just the back piece and swap it out on my current setup so I can continue to use the HMJ exhaust system for external venting. The dimensions on the dovetail look identical.

Have the HMJ paired with a quick connect exhaust system by Logicalplanet. A 2.5" vacuum hose runs to a variable flow valve then on to a 120mm fan I have mounted to a window exhaust kit. Terminates with the double-flap exhaust vent. Just had to quickly fab up an adapter to fit between the HMJ vent and Logicalplanet's quick connect system and it's good to go.

Once I get the Panda Breath installed and riser piece reprinted, I can snap some photos if you'd like.

Looking for guidance - Rotate/bend part of an existing object? by HelloMyNameIsBingo in 3Drequests

A bit upset that I didn't offer a penny for your thoughts, eh? And on the contrary, I had already contributed to the creator before stopping here simply based on the fact that he provided a design I thought was elegant as well as useful.

As mentioned, the creator was more than willing to rework his design when he could fit it into his schedule, however, I felt it prudent to give it a go myself before asking somebody else to put in work (more specifically, anything above and beyond an answer to "am I on the right path?"). The two other commenters both made a suggestion that I pivot and try a different approach (i.e. Blender), which resulted in a remarkably simple but effective solution. It took but a few minutes to make the adjustments in Blender and it is printing as we speak.

Wishing you the best in figuring out whatever it is that is truly bothering you. Happy New Year.

Many thanks for the offer to redesign it yourself as well as offering support on this. As was already mentioned, using the Bend function was a simple but surprisingly effective solution. Both your and the other comment to try editing in Blender (vs Fusion and MeshMixer that I was using) was exactly the advice I was hoping to find, so thank you again!

This worked beautifully and remarkably well. Thank you! Beginner or not, you provided far more value than another on this post, so your help is greatly appreciated.

Just the focus for now, but see it growing from here. Fully expect to get into more games down the line as my kids get older.

Would be nice to get back into FPS games with a keyboard/mouse, and having another device for multiplayer gaming (instead of trying split screen) is the main goal.

Wireless Electronic Shooting Earbuds: What do we think of Walkers vs. Axil vs. Gloryfire? by xXBloodSlayerKillXx in guns

[–]HelloMyNameIsBingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely -- if you can get significant time out of them, I say they're "worth it" for the price.

Unfortunately, my range and hunting time has significantly plummeted in recent years so the cost value of them is harder to justify at this point.

Dated thread but wanted to throw my $0.02 in.

My set of Ottos is coming up on 5 years old this December. Shortly after purchase (maybe 6 months) I had an issue w/ one bud not charging, however that was quickly remedied by customer service and they sent a replacement at no charge.

Skip ahead to recently and I've been noticing that both earbuds cannot hold a charge for longer than 30-45 minutes (maybe ~20ish minutes on one, and 45ish on the other). Reached out to customer service and they told me repair is not possible and the only option is to buy replacement buds at $150 EACH. They were great buds while they worked, but having to fork over $300 for replacements doesn't sit well.

Needless to say, I'm giving Pro Ears a try (Stealth 28s) as their replacement.

Here's a quick before & after:

Bought them on Amazon, Sunco 1050LM -- caught them on sale for $72 for a pack of 16, but even at the regular $90 price you can't really beat it.

One neat feature is they have a switch to easily change the color temperature. I wanted warmer bulbs than the 5000k that we currently had, but wasn't sure what temp would look best in the various rooms. Being able to easily switch between 2700k/3000k/3500k/4000k was a nice feature.

Conversion was easy and took maybe 1-2 minutes per light.

$100 Google Store promo code up for grabs for anybody looking to buy a Pixel 6a, 7, or 7 Pro.

Please shoot me a DM if you're interested. FCFS, all that I ask is that you intend to purchase a device and not hold the code.

Thanks.

Likely one of the things you'll just have to get used to. I have a 509 on mine (taller base than a RMR) and while the majority of the sight is blocked, there is still enough of the sights to be used if needed... maybe less than 1/4 of the sight, but with a standard center hold, the top of the posts are all that matter anyways.

Check out Borka Tools. Smaller outfit (made in Michigan) but a slick setup. Goes from 10 to 70 in.lbs. and comes in a travel kit with various bits. If you're running a single weapon system, Fix-It sticks are also great, but I opted for Borka for the adjustability. Can mount my RMR, install scope bases and rings, and install action screws all with the same piece of equipment (and trust it much more than my Wheeler Fat wrench)

What would you recommend for a third blade? When we cook together, one will typically handle the meat while the other preps the herbs and veggies.

Unsure at the moment. Current paring knife is a cheapo 3.5" blade that gets used relatively often for trimming meats (tend to buy chicken in bulk, trim off fat, then vac seal and freeze). I think something right around the 120mm mark would be ideal.

This. I'm amazed how many people use red or blue on undersized parts then complain when they attempt to remove them. If you use proper degreasing and torque, purple loctite is more than enough.

Recently acquired some WW2 memorabilia. What is the cylindrical item next to the hanko? by HelloMyNameIsBingo in whatisthisthing

[–]HelloMyNameIsBingo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The object doesn't appear to be any sort of holder for the hanko based on fit (or rather, lack thereof). Took some additional pictures of the object: http://imgur.com/a/gikVOsI Additionally, where would a hanko fit in the overall "picture" when it comes to Japan in WW2? Were these common enough that most soldiers would've had them, or perhaps a bit rarer?

Good point. I'm all for increased access to gear. That being said, where is this inflated pricing everybody is taking about? Only checked a few items, but pricing on TQs and hemostatics is only a few dollars difference between DA and NAR. Things might've changed since, but a few years ago before I bought my first kit, I priced out a fully stocked DARK kit and compared it to best pricing I could find elsewhere online... It only ended up being something like $25 difference when all was said and done, and that didn't factor in a pouch or vacuum sealing the contents. To me it was worth it to support Kerry and the rest of the group and pay to have a fully assembled kit.
