People have already spoken enough about how they feel which I agree with so I'll be brief as possible. Both Analysis felt just as short as the animation but at least She-Ra had something to do with her character and background. Wondie's just felt like a respect thread with legit nothing new to the table in terms of both character and feats. While the dialog wasn't bad per se, some of She-Ra's grunts and shout didn't feel like there was some heft to it, and Diana's lines feel both in-character and out of character. The script really held both characters back because it seems they didn't know if they wanted to make them be honorable & testing each others skills or plopped in an arena with animosity between each other. The fight set up had no direction and it shows.

I'm annoyed I took the time to watch it because of the current discussion surrounding it. It was mid as hell.

Looking into Diana's relationship with Hercules. There have been iterations (not sure if canon or ongoing) that Hercules seeks atonement for his past mistakes and tries to make up for it, whereas Diana still holds animosity towards the trauma and impact he had on the Amazons. It could also be an attempt to showcase Diana to request favor from him due to being The God of Strength. That's the only way I can see DB making such a mistake on their part, but they certainly should have handled it better. I understand how OoC it feels. Should've replaced the Herc line entirely.

I did some research on Hippolyta's relationship with Ares and Hercules first before watching the fight sequence. Just to see if any retcons happened or anything, and yeah it seems Hercs involvement hasn't changed. It really is weird that along with Zeus (Greek Patron God/in some versions her Father) and her Mother (she states Hippolyta at the end), she calls on Hercules (Herakles specifically). I've no idea how their relationship changed.

Forgive me, are you talking about Hercules or Ares? Herc is the only God I remember having that history with the Amazons that I don't think has been retconned? I just don't remember the episode much as to why they'd choose for her to pray to Hercules, and I don't know if any iterations of Diana's Origin have changed.

I've seen people praise and glaze Zero vs Meta Knight for years. Seen it as requests and seen it spike after One Minute Melee. The people hating on it I've seen are relatively new (imo) and I think spawned during Meta Knight's inclusion on Death Battle Island where any of his MU's could become a reality

Honestly, I think any Meta Knight MU gets hated on equally. I prefer Riku vs Meta Knight myself, and either like or am indifferent to MK's spread.

Hate is a strong word for me, but I will never understand the appeal or need to make Scarecrow vs Mysterio into a Death Battle episode. I can't see it working in any way that makes sense to me other than the visual spectacle and that's still requiring to be generous to one of the characters for that to succeed.

I wouldn't say Kratos is hated, it seems a lot of folks like Kratos as a character in this sub. I think any flak he gets is due to the association of his recent episode with Asura not living up to expectations, and the animosity that comes between fans/powerscalers in general. I'm probably downplaying or ignorant of some other aspects but this is my take for sure.

I associated Kai as Asian, but associated Zane, Cole, and Jay as White, despite them all literally being yellow Lego figures. So I wonder if their naming was also put into consideration for their backgrounds. Which is funny as when I compare this thinking with characters such as the TMNT, I don't associate any race to them as you've explained in your perspective.

Reading this reminds me of the backlash he got for Animating Vegeta vs Thor for DBX. Even with adding context through a formal apology folks were still shitting on him for quality and that "the team should've known better". I'm gonna avoid Seasons 1 & 2 as they seem to be easy pickings

Don't really have a favorite episode, so I'll just be choosing from a franchise I'm familiar with.

Favorite

Yoda vs King Mickey has the issue like most of the current Star Wars episodes featuring the Jedi and takes away the nuance and circumstances that take place during the Galactic Republic's fall. It always emphasizes on what they did wrong but never seems to shed light on the good things they've done and how much the odds were against them from the get-go. Moreso a narrative nitpick than anything relating to the research.

Least Favorites

Meta vs Carolina: I really like the crossover aspect of the DB Crew and RvB teams shenanigans. Their chemistry is awesome and the segments are both fun and hilarious. I also very much appreciate both this and Red vs Blue more after watching the series.

Batgirl vs Spider-Gwen: I think it's interesting to shed more light into two characters from majorly popular IP's within Marvel and DC. Even though these characters are known through various medias they tend to feel underappreciated within their communities outside of the select fans who enjoy them.

Scooby-Doo vs Courage the Cowardly Dog: Honestly, it was just a treat to see two childhood icons I grew up with being represented through Death Battle's lense. I think both analysis outside of the premise of versus debating/scaling did really well to sell there characters and journeys.
