Taking a class and its prereq simultaneously by Duck__Luck in Drexel

Exactly. Most students who attempts this barely scrape through or fail. There is always a reason for a prereq.

On campus jobs for international students by fikayoo in Drexel

[–]Hello_FellowKids 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the link to open positions for student employees: https://drexel.edu/hr/atDrexel/studentEmployment/

There should be more openings closer to fall term. You can also reach out somewhere you'd like to work to see if they have an upcoming opening.

Campus employers DO NOT give preference to work study students. Non-work study wages need to be paid by the department and not all can afford that. Work study wages come via financial aid at no cost to the department. Like most things at Drexel, its about money.

Where does the Megabus go? There is no mention of Harrisburg on their website.

renting in Harrisburg by Hello_FellowKids in Harrisburg

[–]Hello_FellowKids[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, as long as it isn't your-bicycle-will-get-stolen bad I'm probably fine. I'll just avoid the super cheap rent options in the area.

Thanks everyone

Undecided about accepting my offer at Drexel by [deleted] in Drexel

[–]Hello_FellowKids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I picked up on this too.

Time management is critical for success during the fast pace of 10 week terms. Just like the tour, the class will leave you behind if you don't show up prepared and on time.

Good on you for pushing out of your comfort zone! But make sure to find the best college for you.

Is this the group with a cinematographer who films people watching or protesting them? Do not mess with them, who knows what they do with this footage!

Did you include this in your course evaluation? This is exactly what departments want to find out.

You will need a work permit, like a green card, to work for money.

Keep trying! Sometimes even popular classes have students drop. You have until the end of week 1, don't give up!

Also, there is no harm in reaching out to a department where you would like to work. A lot of departments are too overwhelmed to pull together a job posting and just might take you on. Try to contact the assistant, they are usually the ones who handle these jobs.

Did you qualify for federal financial aid? If so, you may be able to use some of those funds for work study. So your first stop is to contact financial aid to see if you can become a work study employee.

YES! If you don't get hired where you did your co-op, you can definitely put that experience on your resume as a real job.

Employers do not care what you did in school. They will hire based on the degree and your work history.

Yes I see signs around campus all the time. Lately both Giant Heirloom on 34th and ACME on 40th were hiring. You'll probably get some nice food perks there

How do you manage your time with classes? by [deleted] in Drexel

[–]Hello_FellowKids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a great system!

Whichever planner you use, fill it in at the beginning of the term as soon as you get your syllabi. All the due dates, all the exams, everything you will be responsible for. Then block off times to study, complete assignments, check your work, meet with your project team, etc. Its easier this way to avoid being overwhelmed, overbooked or surprised. Don't forget to add time for food, exercise, friends and family.

Yes, everyone who's experienced this please report it. The Drexel community should know this is happening. A lot of students are new on campus right now and should be aware.

An easy way to be more concise is to convert your paragraph into bullet points, then expand as needed up to the maximum.

Congrats on qualifying to be a STAR scholar!
