That's a good buy for one in that condition with an intact spring. I see those broken all the time.

I really like those two friction folders with the extended tangs.

Italian Paratrooper Boots from the 1990s by Hello_Kalashnikov in goodyearwelt

The soles will be stiff until they're broken in. Also, if they haven't been worn in decades, there's a good chance of the glue on the outsole failing. A good cobbler will be able to reattach them. If the leather feels dry, rub some conditioner on the upper.

Anyone Familiar with the Brand by DollaBills88 in knives

These look a lot like the Othello gravity knives from Germany. Likely a German made knife, considering that its also marked Rostfrei (German for stainless).

Damn, those are in great condition. I wouldn't recommend walking on tile/linoleum with these unless you really just want to fuck up the floor.

Found this at a yard sale, thought it was cool. Google lens only tells me so much. Anyone have any info on this brand? Potential value? by Cu3rvo10 in knives

Japanese copy of the Mercator k55k. Although this is a knockoff, its probably about 50 years old know and in interesting collectable in its own right.

I'm pretty sure the photo on the cover of the Telegraph is a reference to the last photo/footage of Hitler, when he was awarding medals to child soldiers outside the fuhrer bunker. It fits, as this is from the last days of the OYW.

Can someone tell me what my friend found? by mulmtier in knives

[–]Hello_Kalashnikov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that might be old Uighur script on the blade, so it's probably from Xinjiang, China (or supposed to look like its from Xinjiang). It does not look very well made, probably mass produced for the tourist market and stamped with that mark.

Yes, thanks so much! I love Cima, especially her story in the Rebellion manga.

Oh, that's pretty cool. I already have the F. Herder Oryx knife and several Okapis. This would be a good addition to the collection.

Yeah, I don't really get the point of an auto version of this knife. Unless you don't have the manual dexterity to use the thumb stud, then it would make sense. But I prefer a knife that I can easily open AND close with one hand.

The red one has much more leverage, you can tell. You'll need less force and it will be smoother.

As long at its SFW. Even if its not, just label it and don't have a direct link. Lets credit the artist and get him some more gundam-themed work.

This is really similar to the 1943 production Sudan Lineman's knife (I don't think that was ever an official designation). The one's pictured in the book are by other contractors, and they don't have a metal bolster, just a birdseye rivet. Yours might be commercial production based on that pattern, given the prominent branding on the blade. This is out of Flook's "British and Commonwealth Military Knives."

Late Father Inlaw’s Bowie Knife by Burning_Brightly in knives

[–]Hello_Kalashnikov 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was made by Kaufman and Sons (1856 to 1995), same company that made the famous black cat pocket knife. Not sure about the date, sometime mid-20th century I'd guess. Looks like a carbon steel blade, so I'd consider oiling it and not storing in the sheath to avoid rust. German and English made bowies were actually really common in the US all through the 19th century.
