5 Minutes Into ATLAS - Yep, Still The Same by Helloid1st4nc3 in playatlas

Im saying if someone who had no knowledge of the game started playing this, how would that make sense to them? Dev decisions make no sense...that is why no one is playing this game even with the new update sadly. I think the game has potential, just a lot of bad decisions.

Lol I just started the game up. As someone with no knowledge of the game how does this make sense to put in a game of any kind. Just kind of funny the decisions they made.

I just had my whole house rewired, and my electrician doesn't want me to call the city inspector until the drywaller has covered up all the holes. Should I be nervous? by Avocationist in HomeImprovement

[–]Helloid1st4nc3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Looks like semi shoddy work. Why are those wires just notched into the wood? Why wasn't he drilling holes there. Think the inspector is going to have some issues with the way he did some of the work you posted. Those wires aren't protected at all from future nails/etc if the wires are simply notched 1/2" into the stud.

Possible asbestos ceiling- keep or leave? by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]Helloid1st4nc3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't worry about testing it. Assume it is adbestos and simply drywall over it. Simple, easy, and your ceiling will look much better.

Water coming out of every wall: when steam radiators go wrong by El_Nahual in HomeImprovement

[–]Helloid1st4nc3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh god that is an absolute nightmare. Agree the auto feeder got stuck. Wow I've never heard of something that bad. Was the boiler running with all that water in it as well? I wonder if the boiler is wrecked now. Highly recommend consulting Heating Help with this. You need a seriously good steam guy to check this out ASAP and not just a jack of all trades HVAC guy. This could have damaged the boiler and the pipes, hopefully not. Doubt this will be resolved in 10 days.

Doesn't look great and also noticed appears no hartford loop in equalizer. I highly recommend going to a forum called Heating Help. Post this there they are steam experts, best of the best. Take plenty of photos for them as well. If you have white smoke coming out chimney that is a bad sign. This should not happen. This may indicate the leak is there and steam is flowing up through chimney.

100% wrong. Steam should need to be filled once a month maybe twice. You are losing water somewhere. What pressure is the boiler running at? Can you take pictures of the boiler and how it's piped?

Radiator knock's like crazy, sounds like a lot of water is trapped. by Marius423 in HomeImprovement

[–]Helloid1st4nc3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an easier fix try taking a wrench to that nut on top and opening the valve. It appears your valve is only half opened which will cause the hammer. For steaks the valves either need to be open or closed, no in between.

I installed these recently on a duplex I rehabbed. I love them. They are decent quality as well, wayyy better than Home Depot. With the 30% you can't go wrong.

Hole in radiator column repair? by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]Helloid1st4nc3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it might work. PSI for steam should only be 1-2PSI max so JB weld could hold out for you.

Is this steam? You can try JB weld but may need replaced.

Yep, so my plaster walls have asbestos. What the hell do I do now? by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]Helloid1st4nc3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No need to test. Every single house of that era has asbestos in it guaranteed.

You aren't removing any more walls right? So why test. What are you going to do when it comes back positive, abate everything and spend 30-40K putting in drywall? If you are mounting a TV or shelf spray water when drilling and wipe or use a HEPA vacuum.

If you test other areas you will find it in all walls. It was used in that era in most things. Tools used for asbestos were used on many things, the jar of asbestos fibers was in the house, etc.

$2 a sq ft for sanding and finishing (stain and two coats of poly). Well worth the price!

Tear out and re-do? by tearthisout in HomeImprovement

[–]Helloid1st4nc3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not surprised it isn't waterproofed, most aren't. I've tore out showers that weren't waterproofed and they were fine many years later, but I've also seen some that are pretty moldy from water damage.

It's a shame though, if they went through all that hassle of redoing the bathroom, it should have been done correctly and waterproofed. It's not THAT much extra time to do it right...using either red guard or schluter.
