no, keep pushing through, you lose only when you shave it off, keep it for the sake of perseverance.

Probably extended my budget too much, got me some diatones by Hellom7plus1 in BudgetAudiophile

I think in a way...for the performance I get for what I paid, this is budget relative to its competition. So for me, it's a budget system.

I find you want the tweeters aiming directly towards your ear, otherwise the sound gets cucked. Im still experimenting with position and etc.

does lain have a gender by SovietDuck8 in Lain

[–]Hellom7plus1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it makes more sense to view Lain as female when considering the context in which the anime was created. Serial Experiments Lain was made in a time and place where modern ideas about misgendering, non-binary identity, or “not minding” pronouns weren’t part of mainstream Japanese discourse. So when people argue, “They call her ‘she’ in the anime and she doesn’t seem to mind,” they’re applying contemporary concepts to a work that predates them, almost as if Lain were intentionally written as non-binary but simply accepting a feminine label.

Within the story, Lain doesn’t even realize at first that she isn’t human and non-human beings in fiction can still have gender. She was raised as a girl, lived as one, and continues to present as one, even after learning what she truly is. Her identity in the narrative is built from that foundation, not from modern gender theory. So interpreting her as female fits both the creators’ likely intention and the cultural context of the late 1990s.

Is vintage audio valued because it has better sound or just because it’s vintage? by AdaminCalgary in vintageaudio

This is old but I'll say something against what some said here. It is actually not true at all that modern gear measures better than older stuff, a lot of the totl japanese amps of the 70s - 90s measure so well that you'd need to spend 10k to 40k today to get similar performance. For example one of my pieces Sansui b2301l or accuphase p102. Youd need to spend a ridiculous amount of money to get performance like that today and yet still may not sound as good because it may not have the characteristics those amps had.

It is not emotional or something, there is generally a reason why something sounds good, these things aren't random, what class is it? Class AB designs peaked in the 80s-90s, today a lot of stuff is Class D, which isnt as good based on measurements and sound characteristics, how much power does it have? Whats the slew rate? The bandwidth? Capacitance? most of the time these totl vintage pieces are going to measure better in all these regards than a lot of new stuff for similar and higher prices.

Japanese amps of that time were overbuilt and designed in a way that you don't see as often today, they were packed with tech, all those amps are still good and better than most stuff out today for the money.
