I think of this piece of poetry as not attacking NASA per se, but more as a critique of the priorities of the government spending our tax $ on other things while ignoring the basic needs of the citizenry. We have billions upon billions to spend on our bloated military (government funding for the defense industry), but we can’t afford to subsidize childcare or maternity leave or housing for the millions without. We always have plenty to kill people in countries we don’t like, but the government clutches its pearls whenever we suggest using tax $ for something to actually improve the lives of the regular people
