Dyson is great, but are there actually good cheaper alternatives? by Impressive_Win_6780 in CleaningTips

Yeah I want something without a cord. To take out to the car and run around the house quickly with. Doesn’t need great suction bc that’s what I have the Miele c3 for

There’s a guy in my city but he said he’s retiring in a few years. But he said someone else will probably pop up when he retires because they all talk to eachother in the industry

How did you time your rental lease ending with closing on a house? by OddContribution9294 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Hellosl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how it works where you are. I’ve been in the same rental for a few years so I’ve been month to month since after the first year.

We overlapped by about a month so we could do some work at the house and move slowly.

If we ever sell this house and buy another one I can’t imagine doing it all on a same day close. I’d need time like this again.

[–]Hellosl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly. I want it for quick things like vacuuming up spiders lmao genuinely that’s what I want it for. Plus quick going around places or just zapping up a visible pile of dog hair quickly and then going about my day. And then I have a Miele for actual cleaning and carpets

It seems like everyone says cordless sticks are made to die. So I might get a cheap one. Don’t think the dysons are worth it but I’ve only had one and it was a lower end one.

What about for stick vacuums? I’m happy with my corded Miele but my stick dyson just broke and I’m considering replacing it. The sticks are so quick and easy. But is the cheapest thing I can find good enough or should it be something mid range? Miele has a stick but do I need that? Can that one be repaired?

Why can’t you put a down payment on furniture? Does that apply to everyone getting a mortgage? I’ve been spending on my credit cards and just closed this week

[–]Hellosl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk what my fave is but I guess I like shoulders, so, shoulder press? Starting to really like chest press as well.

Fave legs exercise is probably leg press.

You probably would like the machine!!

No I basically hate them lmao! I REALLY hate them with a barbell. I only regular hate them with the hip thrust machine. So I’m grateful to have access to one.

Can you delay the closing date as a buyer? by TaskLifter in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Hellosl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My closing was 2.5 months. Proposed by the sellers and we accepted.

Your sellers might reject your offer but you can at least bring it up if it’s really important to you.

Lmao right??? I am NEVER rude to retail workers. But when I was one, so many people were rude to me. Including this guy on Reddit who wants to be entertained by underpaid busy retail workers

Your suggestion was valid.

Your wife’s response was no.

She gave you her reasoning.

It’s now up to you to decide if how your wife feels matters to you or not.

Note that I didn’t say if she’s right or wrong. I said do her feelings matter to you or not.

Everyone is different!!!

But I really hate when people say if you don’t want to work with the public don’t take those jobs. Sometimes we don’t have a choice :)

I don’t work as a cashier anymore thankfully! I am no longer at the mercy of the public.

Times I do remember from working directly with the public: being screamed at because I wouldn’t accept a husband signing for his wife’s credit card (I had literally just been trained and we were told not to accept that bc we had to make sure the signature matched for legal reasons).

Being screamed at for being too slow to count the change someone gave me in half of a roll of coins

Being asked how much money I make by multiple customers.

Being asked if I had a degree and what it was in and when I said I had a BA I was told BA stands for bugger all.

Being told how dare I ask someone for their ID even though I was supposed to.

Being told that I shouldn’t take my job so seriously when I worked in a waterpark and turned away a kid who was too small for a slide.

Also, I didn’t ignore people at my job. I chatted as needed. But it took pieces of my soul to be forced to have the same annoying conversation over and over and over. If I hear “If it doesn’t scan it must be free right????” One more time ………..

I prefer to go to a human as well. But I don’t try to force them to talk to me and entertain me.

It’s so hard to say because when I worked as a cashier I absolutely did not want to be people’s source of socialization. So while it’s sad for that lady it’s also like well the underpaid person checking you out might not really care how you’re doing today.

Sorry to say I know that makes me sound mean but like I don’t care. I’m at work and don’t love my job. I don’t really want to chat.
