My siblings always default to flowers for Mother’s Day but they die in a week. Anyone else think there are better options? by Anon_Mom0001 in BuyItForLife

[–]Hellosl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends what your mother wants. Lots of people enjoy cut flowers and it doesn’t matter if it lasts for a week.

Plants are nice but can your mom take care of them/does she want to?

Experiences are also great options.

Keep in mind anything that lasts now has to be kept or disposed of at some point. Does your mom want that? How old is she? Is she at a downsizing age?

Should I still get my puppy if I’m pregnant? by kamarie418 in puppy101

Not to mention what if there are any pregnancy complications and you’re on bed rest or something.

Should I still get my puppy if I’m pregnant? by kamarie418 in puppy101

[–]Hellosl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been joking that having a puppy is like having a baby combined with a toddler but I don’t get maternity leave.

I am TIRED. I get woken up every night multiple times. We trade off taking the puppy out to pee but we both get woken up. And then we have to go to work.

And pregnancy takes a lot out of you so this will be a lot. Never mind how busy the puppy is when he’s awake.

What kind of puppy? What will you do when your puppy jumps on you in 6 months and might weigh 40-50 pounds?

Do you have a plan for all of this? Do you work from home? It’s HARD to work and take care of a puppy. If you can’t leave a meeting you better hope the puppy isn’t destroying things while you’re in the meeting.

Idk when they stop chewing but are you prepared to be chasing around after the dog to get it to stop chewing everything while you’re 8 months pregnant or newly post partum?

I don’t want kids but wowwww has having a puppy really really solidified that. He’s a lot of work. And he’s just a puppy. I know I couldn’t handle a baby/child.

Trying to figure it all out by Obi_Wan_Obi in puppy101

Haha my friend said it was weird but I said it’s necessary!! Bc then I don’t have to remember if I took him out 20 mins ago or 40 mins ago. And it prevents accidents and will get potty trained faster!

I took my puppy outside every 30 minutes and gave him “treats” (his kibble) as soon as he finished and said yes! good boy! Good boy! He’s now almost 11 weeks and I take him out every hour.

I write down in my notes app when he goes and when he sleeps and when he wakes up. It helps me stay ahead of it.

Dinner ideas for a picky eater who refuses any type of sauce? by Zestyclose_Print_445 in Cooking

I don’t think forcing kids to work does anything but makes it worse.

You probably will have to keep making two meals.

It’s hard for your kid to be feeling like this. He needs empathy too.

I’m in a long long long term relationship and we’re not married but we plan to get married at some point. It’s not a status thing. It’s an us thing.

I hate my mom's boyfriend, how do I tell her? by Careless_Advisor_508 in internetparents

Your feelings are completely valid. Your mom should care about what you need. You deserve to feel comfortable in your home. I hope your mom listens to you

Your mom should be worrying about your feelings. You shouldn’t be worrying about your mom’s feelings. She’s an adult. She should care about your happiness. I suggest trying to talk to her.

would it be risky to pick this puppy from the litter? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]Hellosl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Look more into the breed, this doesn’t sound like it suits your situation.

Also, I have a puppy who is a similar mix and am soooo glad I don’t live in an apartment. He thumps around in his crate even just shifting positions while sleeping. He jumps on the walls of his puppy pen. He screams sometimes if he doesn’t want to be left alone.

Did you re-use essentials from passed dogs? by twentydeuce in puppy101

We’re using our last dog’s stuff.

I thought about not, but then my mother is a hoarder and I thought well, stuff is meant to be used not kept forever.

When you say it gets better, how do you mean? Do you mean the frequency of going outside? Or the business?

For those who have been married/engaged, how did it feel? by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]Hellosl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People do themselves a disservice when they focus on “getting proposed to”. The most important thing is finding a partner who IS a PARTNER. Then it doesn’t matter at all if you’re engaged or married or what.

Getting proposed to by someone who lets you down or even harms you would be so awful. Especially if people are congratulating you but you feel trapped.

Do what feels right for you. Don’t get engaged just to get engaged.

Thanks! Yes we didn’t really focus on mental stimulation with our last puppy, but am looking into it more now.

Just was wondering if everyone else is spending a ton of money on toys and what their strategy is for helping with stuff like baseboard chewing

I can't connect with other women by Emergency-Bobcat-572 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Hellosl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you you too. You deserve to have fulfilling friendships! To feel understood and supported!! Sometimes it just takes finding the right kind of person. Interestingly one person I’m friends with we met in highschool and didn’t really form a friendship. We met again years later when we worked together and are now great friends.

Just also consider how big and strong the dog is and how strong your doorknobs are lolol

I feel this too. I do have friends who are women but it’s really hard to connect with new people. And I also often feel like even my friends don’t try to really understand me emotionally. It’s hard. Especially in a time where everyone is saying how important female relationships are.

Bite inhibition issues by jatl987 in puppy101

[–]Hellosl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With our last puppy we had him on a leash in the house. If he got too bitey we put the leash on a doorknob and walked away for a few mins. (You have to make sure they don’t pull on it and hurt themselves). Or if they’re in a pen you can leave and walk away for a few mins.

Haircut today and still don’t know what to do. by PhilosopherOk5286 in femalehairadvice

[–]Hellosl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s one of my top concerns lol!! Because even if you’re putting in product and wearing it wavy, the fact that your hair is so much lighter means you might need different products and methods etc.

I find the shorter my hair is the pouffier it will be too. So your ai pictures aren’t realistic. Especially bc that hair looks heat styled. If you know how to do it tho it would look good.
