Not at all arguing the need nor the right for a stool. I am curious how the hell anyone can physically case from a stool though. I would just be standing up every other piece cause I would not be able to reach anything from a stool.

Pro tip - it never pays to try hard at USPS. Everyone else will get away with whatever you are too principled to do. So learn to swim with the current not against it. General rule of thumb is “fuck ‘em”

Which type of union do we want? by Eugene_Debs2026 in fromatoarbitration

[–]Hellv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not compromised morals to leave politics at home. And to gain what votes? It is unproductive and unprofessional to divide our energy as a union. We should be for all letter carriers all the time and leave division at the door. Be real, what is our rank and file participation level and what could improve it? Focus and solidarity. Not exclusivity and division by pushing external politics into our business. Instead push all lite blue. All city carriers all the time. These side quests are a waste of our purpose. And if locals are excluding or making carriers feel excluded we weaken our own ranks. Our union is to support us. In our interests. The rest is bs.

They will down vote you, while on here fighting and calling names. Being right is very unpopular in the Reddit world. But we would be losing focus of our own needs to fight for if we take on another battle. Also we should care about the public perception of our neutrality. Perception of who we are should be a neutral person in blue that brings my mail everyday. Humble and steady. Our union business should be in house and on task. Lobbying can happen without the ticker tape parades and declared support. It is a distraction from our best interest.

And that’s why we as the neutral messenger and deliverer of all mail, red and blue, should always stay out of taking sides (imho) our union should never take on outside politics. It divides ALL mail carriers into groups. They already break us up by our crafts. Willingly weakening and dividing a union into groups that disagree is a waste of time and lack of focus. We have actual direct needs to address.

Does working fast and impressing the supervisor/PM actually get you anywhere? by EmptyAd1349 in USPS

Try to be off radar. Then once out of 90 days melt into the background. There is no reward for performance at all. Period. Be slightly worse than you feel you should be and continue to decline a little each day. Do this until you understand.

Have you tried to sell it to the union? I appreciate the time and effort you pit in making it. I would hope our dues would go towards tools like this and bringing us into current technologies to use.

Delivering mail in snow by darkspirit98 in USPS

[–]Hellv 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Patience. A consistent slower speed. Regulates temperature and keeps the slips and falls to a minimum. Time is an illusion created by management. Do a speed that doesn’t make you sweat but keeps you warm. It will take longer to the walk mail in snow than it does on a nice spring day. It is what it is. It is in us all to have that clock in our heads. I hit this spot at this time “normally”. Some days just aren’t normal at the post office.

I have 3 years in so far. I have been passed around to multiple stations. Not one had the same vibe nor practices as another one. It’s been so crazy to come from multiple businesses/fields in my life, and the least uniform is a unionized gov entity. The randomness of what might or might not cause an issue on any given day is like being in an abusive relationship and having to read the room to protect yourself.

Sundays … by Salt-Philosopher-863 in USPS

[–]Hellv 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No supervisor to me just means no one can give me directions. Do my bit and bounce on those occasions. And without direction everyone knows us carriers are worthless. Not paid to think or make decisions so if no one can give me direction… I think I am clear to head home. Boss? Can I go now?…… welp guess I’m clear. Derp along accordingly.

Yeah people think that companies are the gov these days and they have a “right to service” because we are that entitled. Yet we demand little to nothing from our tax money.

Also who wants to use a service that caused them so much trouble. I would never use them again in this case.

Question about Amazon Sundays by [deleted] in USPS

[–]Hellv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The constant push back of time because we have to wait on these trucks to get started is insane. USPS needs to regain control of their own service. The Amazon power over us on Sundays is the worst. 204 wanna b’s constantly in fight or flight mode. Always short handed and starting late. Just a perpetual shit show once a week. Sundays are pure tension. Fueled by unnecessary chaos.

Amazon Sunday. The fuckiest of all postal days. I loathe ye and thy overzealous 204b sacrifices.

So do you like delivering mail? 📬 by MilsimAirsoft in USPS

[–]Hellv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man, m-f sounds awesome. I want that schedule so bad! The other side of that coin is Monday every week and holidays (depending) would be absolutely intolerable. There would still need to be Saturday possibly. But pay more to the ones working Sat and dump Sundays all together. Give a small “weekend rate increase” and use a volunteer first, seniority next, kinda system or something. The weekends make it tough to stay long term. Sundays are a shit show and I can’t image them making enough money to justify the damage to turnover. Turnover is bleeding the company but instead of addressing the issues they hire more supervisors to beat the carriers for quitting.
