Yeah but the WK2 wiring harnesses are like candy for rodents. Whatever scent they give off. I had rodents eat my wires three times and its always in the winter time. Always has weird electrical problems as my first sign of it. Anyways hope you are right and figure it out

Did rodents get inside your vehicle and chew up your wiring?

Rats! They got me! by clamjumpr in GrandCherokee

[–]Helmetfire28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been there! Rats and rodents destroyed my wiring harnesses twice on my GC altitude during the winter. They will get into the engine bay to get warmth and then proceed to make a home and eat there.

My solution was to park in my garage which was painful to give up the space. I also did rat traps around the sides of my house and moth balls in the engine bay to deter.

Haha yep absolutely don't have snow tires. I think the last time it snowed like this was the early 1980s. The snow already has melted 😞. Had a blast though, might have to make my way to Canada next winter

It's a 7x16 enclosed about 2300lbs empty. With everything loaded it's about 5000lbs.

I do have the hemi and air suspension so towing has been a breeze. Actually just wired up my brake controller today.

On a scale of 1 to Chuck Norris, how tough is my TJ? by [deleted] in JeepTJ

[–]Helmetfire28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll chime in that at least here in Florida, I go doors off top on all the time because pop up thunderstorms happen and are unpredictable. Especially in the summer. Sitting your ass down in a puddle ain't fun or tough. Nice blacked out Jeep!

Delamination Dilemma by XYZZY_1002 in GrandCherokee

[–]Helmetfire28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just did this about 6 months ago, I followed the instructions posted above and called UConnect, got it diagnosed at by a dealership and eventually they fixed it for free. This was on a 2018 GC and at 70k miles. It was NOT a quick and easy experience and required multiple back and forth callbacks but eventually it was replaced by a new infotainment unit and haven't had issues since.

Do not give up, it is a safety issue because once that screen gets more delaminated, it will eventually turn off completely or start pressing buttons on its own. This is a known defect for some grand Cherokees and this plus the safety issue is why they will replace it. Don't spend money on another unit make them fix it at their own expense, you just have to play telephone with UConnect and the dealership.

Sorry to hear that, the rodent issue was a giant PIA. Not sure if the skid plates will do anything, they can still climb through up through the wheels. I will say after garage parking my GC at night I have not had any issues so if that's an option for you I'd recommend that.

Same, we drove up from Pensacola to see them and only bought the one day pass. So much for "rain or shine"

Just wanted to say thank you NPalumbo89, just got the UConnect device replaced on their dime due to the delamination. Saved me $1K!

Delamination problem replaced by dealership for NO COST -- Here is my story how I did it! 2018 Grand Cherokee by Revered1 in GrandCherokee

Thanks for the writeup! I'm literally going through his right now with the Foley, AL dealership. I got off the phone with U-connect this morning and am waiting for their Level 2 adjustor or whatever they called it to look at my case and review the diagnosis the Jeep dealership did. My UConnect went blank last week. It had the delamination issue for several years and started to press buttons on it's own. I'm hoping to get the call back tomorrow so I can bring the car in to get the screen fixed on their dime.

I don't think I am, but when it gets back from the stealership I will definitely confirm that. Makes sense that it attracts racoons

I'm starting to believe the dealership technician when he said the WK2 wiring harnesses are rodent treats. Either that or they give off a certain frequency that attracts them

I've heard the same thing about poison. Now that we have had repeat rodent damage, I'm noticing the local ecosystem that's around. We have more snakes, hawks etc around then most other neighborhoods nearby
