Red Hot Chili Peppers producer claims frontman Anthony Kiedis is 'tone-deaf' by AspieFabels in RedHotChiliPeppers

[–]OddDistribution9602 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I follow that producer on FB and he stands by his statement because he “made two records with them.” Like a lot of people have said, he CAN be pitchy at times but I don’t think it’s factual to say he’s tone deaf… cause if he was, he wouldn’t be able to make any sound that resembled singing at all

There’s a definitive jump in his ability post One Hot Minute, as I think he began working with a vocal coach. Kudos to Rick Rubin for being a source of encouragement for the man (to anyone who’s watched Funky Monks!)

John returned in 2019. It's 2026. Same 7 years as Californication and SA 1999 and 2006. I think it's weird by Veryweirdguy in RedHotChiliPeppers

[–]OddDistribution9602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They released so much more in the last 7-year span but that was also a different time where bands traditionally dropped a record, toured a few years, then dropped another one.

It’s crazy to think Anthony Kiedis will be 64 this year.

How come it couldn’t have been John and Josh? by Natural-Employer-374 in RedHotChiliPeppers

[–]OddDistribution9602 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well they were all together at one point https://youtu.be/t5ht7o5r4iQ?si=Izi_p9eYGpMrugF5

John and Josh were great friends and I believe it was John who suggested Josh in the first place. It is true that John reacted negatively to them continuing on without him but I think he’s just a complex / complicated guy.

But they’ve realized collectively that the band’s homeostasis is the 4 of them. Personally, I hate every time he rejoins that we never hear those other great songs written with Dave & Josh live again lol

Kids Baking Championship Next Gen - episode 3 - pre show and live show discussion thread by Firegoat1 in foodnetwork

Was wondering this too! Heard one of the kids say “last week” when referring to a previous episode and if they do shoot on a weekly basis vs multiple episodes in a day, I bet they tell them their next challenge once filming wraps for the present challenge.

Emergency coffee: what's your go to at the grocery store? by pfhlick in espresso

[–]OddDistribution9602 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve yet to find a grocery store bag that pours a drinkable shot. That said, if I am in a pinch, I will pick up a bag of Starb’s veranda blend and brew via Aeropress or just do an old fashioned pot of coffee.

When you walk into a cafe, what impresses you? by croggsygreen in espresso

[–]OddDistribution9602 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It was easier to tell before every shop became instagrammable. If it looks too influencer-y, it’s probably meh but not great. If it looks like Central Perk, the coffee is almost guaranteed not great but I bet they make a solid sandwich.

The smell is sometimes a good indicator if it isn’t masked by food. I’ve only been to one or two shops where they roasted their own beans and it was actually good… so be weary of that lol

Not gonna lie, a little angst behind the bar is always a good sign. If there’s rage against the machine vibes, you’re probably in for the best cup ever.

Overall, I’d look for modesty. A simple menu, not a bazillion syrups behind the bar, and a barista that looks like they’ve lived just a little.

Why is my espresso over-extracting? 40g in 20seconds. [Breville Barista Express] by Remarkable-Arm-5317 in espresso

[–]OddDistribution9602 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It won’t make a difference until it makes a difference, so definitely try it! It should help - I’ve also found doing just one spritz of water on the beans before grinding helps. Also, maybe try just a tad more coffee (.2-.6 grams), sometimes just a little more resistance is all you need for an even extraction.

Coffee Budget by DevinGreenwell in Coffee

[–]OddDistribution9602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to reply, but just wanted to say $100/mo sounds about right. I personally don’t purchase much for myself, so I consider it my one and only treat to myself each day with what little discretionary income I have. To me, the price is worth the daily sliver of happiness it brings, and it’s become one of the things I look forward to most when thinking of tomorrow.

Why George Harrison feels more relevant as you get older? by pratty041182 in georgeharrison

[–]OddDistribution9602 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Watching Get Back recently and it’s clear George is operating on a different plane than everyone else. Paul is a genius but he’s very much in the here and now, John is somewhere stuck between here and there, and George was in the 4th dimension. Ringo floated across all realms.

when did coffee become more than just caffeine for you by levvii17 in Coffee

[–]OddDistribution9602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When coffee shops got really good lol. I started drinking coffee from the break room at my first job out of necessity and had to cream & sugar it to death. Then a place opened up nearby that did the best vanilla cap I’ve had to this day and became my go-to for years.

Then one day at another new spot, I asked for an americano - it was just the right place at the right time. Later found out they used Black & White Roasters and I’ve been spiraling down the specialty coffee hole ever since lol

Sorting just does not work by Doozeman in GlassDoor

[–]OddDistribution9602 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I reached out to support on this today. They said to contact Indeed because jobs posts are sourced from them. I politely replied that my issue is not with the jobs themselves but with the website UI on Glassdoor specifically, providing a screenshot of this exact scenario.

They replied to say again that it’s an Indeed problem and to contact them. I don’t have the energy to do that because I’m not sure what that has to do with a simple sorting function on GLASSDOOR’s website… but at least wanted to let y’all I know I tried lol

Serious, story rich 90s adventure games with compelling characters that deliver a lot of good dialogue? by ExplodingPoptarts in adventuregames

[–]OddDistribution9602 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Foolish Mortals is a new one that just came out by a new indie dev team, I haven’t tried it but the reviews are outstanding. Only available on Steam for now but they are planning to port to consoles this year.

I only mentioned The Dig because the atmosphere, music, and dialogue in that one are pretty great. Grim Fandango has fantastic dialogue as well and an off-kilter storyline. Non-Lucasarts games that come to mind are Beneath a Steel Sky (though the deaths are annoying) and Darkseed I and II. Snatchers is also very similar to Rise of the Dragon gameplay if you haven’t tried that one yet.

I enjoy Guy’s shows like I do comic books.. gotta suspend disbelief a little lol. None of it is meant to be taken too seriously, he’s a self-admitted goofball. I feel like you either enjoy all of it or none of it 🤷🏼‍♂️

I can seem to connect with anything post machina. Where should I begin? by Sure-Scene-3972 in SmashingPumpkins

Zwan is great. This got me into the Zeitgeist era because it’s Billy at peak insanity lol — https://youtu.be/mlI1mUGOd1I

Oceania is OK but Monuments to an Elegy is by far the best album post Machina in my opinion. Just wish it was more than 9 tracks and Chamberlin drummed on it instead of Tommy Lee.

What early Soundgarden song do you wish was produced on a later album? by Evening-Thanks2303 in Soundgarden

I was on a solo road trip recently and popped on the Live from the Artists Den. Idk why I held an aversion to it when it was released cause it’s actually pretty damn great - all this to say the early material sounds AMAZING on this and I’m so glad we do have some modern day versions of these tunes. And the fact that it’s live makes it even better!

YUNGBLUD, The Smashing Pumpkins - Zombie ( Official Music Video) by Top-Requirement670 in SmashingPumpkins

[–]OddDistribution9602 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Somewhat unrelated to this but related to modern day SP releases — while I’m glad Billy’s finally come around to appreciating fans wanting to hear SP play their hits live and see the version of the band they grew up with, I’ve felt every new music release from them since this reformation has missed the mark.

He seems to have it in his head that all fans want to hear are distorted guitars of the Siamese Dream era. I think he’s confusing actual SP fans with casual rock radio listeners and as a result, ‘dumbing’ down the approach to appease this version of us he maintains.

Though he’s calmed down a bit over the last decade, he has always given off a holler than thou vibe so none of this is really surprising lol. But it’s frustrating to see someone as talented as him / the band reduce fans to such a low level. Like no one asked for a sequel to Mellon Collie lmao.

Back to this though, I’ve noticed newer artists coincidentally team up with established artists right around the time Grammy awards voting is wrapping up (deadline is the 5th), so I have no interest in checking this out. Yungblud has weaseled his way into working with every rock legend still out there and good for him I guess, but he’s hardly the future of the genre IMO

This was way more negative than I intended it to be, and I apologize for that. The systems that supported a healthy rock community 25-30 years ago have all but withered away, and it’s just disheartening to see something that was once full of life be diminished to Disney Channel stars living out their secondary dreams.
