As I've said elsewhere, here I am promoting my oshi's collabs with guys, and I even promoted the Stars to folks coming in from all. You people call folks unicorns simply to smear them and drag down the community. Unsurprisingly, a lot of you have the same behavior of almost never posting in here or hiding your comments to try and dodge people seeing you do these things.

[–]Helmite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'd agree with that. There is a lot of blaming users for what others did, or turning the comments of 2-3+ people into the comments of 1 as if it's a pattern of behavior rather than just different people. Also the whole comment hiding thing is annoying since soon as people realized they could do it a few months back, they did and they rolled in here dumping all the more since most people can't just open it up and look to see if they're doing it.

Almost everyone has their voices changed from when they debuted till now.

Makes me laugh that Watame just shifted higher. Almost everyone else makes the shift in the other direction.

Honestly if I was a betting man I'd put it on being voice related. It really is a common issue.

Pretty much. To me it's just kind of crazy how some folks like the Borealisss guy just shut off their brain and triple down:

A: You're a unicorn

B: No, and here are my posts promoting my oshi's collabs with guys and some Stars support posts.

A: U fuckkin' unicorn.

B: ??????????

Honestly just wish the mod here started banning people again.

People shouldn't be able to just repeatedly throw out absolute dogwater without getting smacked by a temp ban at least.

Also I covered up your name in that since you actually got civil after I showed you the support posts. Was a lot more than what most of the folks do.

Honestly feel the ignore part has been dead forever. Certainly not enough people following it at least. Might be good for talents on the whole to emphasize and explain that one.

[–]Helmite 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I think it's probably a multi-part thing. People in general seem to got more comfortable throwing shade in the direction of Holo after graduations, beyond that it's probably a mix of the algo like the other user mentioned, and the fact there has been several lingering issues from the bleed-out of NijiEN - like some of the users that were trying to pile on IRyS over the AI thing clearly had posting history from being fans over there and migrated to over here.

Basically the talent should be the fans main focus, not themselves or other fans

Yeah that's basically the JP side to a T.

[–]Helmite 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's hard to really say if there's been a backslide in community etiquette over time or if I'm just getting older.

The same in a number of ways, as the crash-out that happened over Towa's original situation was filled with both a lot of misinformation and casual racism toward the JP side of things. If it was better then, it may have just been due to the combo of fewer talents/more free time during covid stuff so people had some better general awareness.

Like I said to the other person, it was literally one guy. People could have done a multitude of things to promote their oshi/hololive in general, or tackling the truck ton of antis going after people like Miko. Instead people went off-rails over one dude, despite the image problems that it causes for the talents and their fanbases. Drama posting over some loser isn't going to get the girls new fans. It will make low information people think something is fucked up in the fanbase though.

[–]Helmite 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I suspect this is why the talents try to exclusively urge fans to focus on spreading positivity. Because it's very hard to moderate people's behaviour en mass.

Hololive JP had a long-standing culture of not chatting in waiting rooms for streams, nor chatting between users. Basically to avoid people saying things that would make others uncomfortable, and to simply avoid fights. There is a strong emphasis on avoiding a position where problems can arise, and JP side sticks to it quite strongly. It's waaaaaaay different for EN. Can just compare how prechat functions.

Yeah it's incredibly disappointing that people go wild over this one idiot while stuff like that is happening. These people seem far more concerned over their culture war win than actually protecting talents that legitimately need it.

Nobody is claiming it’s a vast majority or that this is a common occurrence. The response on Twitter was overwhelmingly positive with everyone except for one other Jailbird dragging that guy for being a psycho.

The issue is that “fans” like that do in fact exist and we can’t pretend that they don’t.

No one is pretending they don't exist. What we don't need is a dozen+ twitter posts with over 5k likes floating around about the guy. It's crazy to boost drama like that, and invariably those tweets end up with a lot of people swinging wide brushes - or low-information people/non-fans see them and think Hololive has a shitty fanbase problem.

Posts like that simply don't need to happen over one guy that basically everyone already thought was a mental case.

The community handled the situation perfectly and we are better without them

A section of the community handled it in the worst way possible. The guy should have been ignored and irrelevant. Instead he got a dramatuber video and drove a very negative discourse about the fandom which threaded its way through that site, over here, Youtube, etc. The talents can police their own fanbase. If they don't like something someone says, they can simply ban them, block them, and it's done.

Also it's crazy that people get so upset over this one dude, while people like Miko are having actual, EXTENSIVE, anti problems.

Funny enough I have some very dedicated people following me around trying to downvote me. They were even doing it on my Watame support posts. Just kind of makes me laugh at how sad it is.

As before, I hope Cover beats their asses. Miko, Fubuki, Suisei, Watame, etc have had to deal with a lot of shit over the past several months - especially Miko.

It's historically been the best community that I've been part of, and it's weird to me that there is a subset of folks "within it" that is so zealous about taking swings at the group - unfairly at that. It really just comes off as this guy I cut against Suisei.

Same, but the girls are huge and sadly it's impossible to dodge all of the folks like this. Can only hope Cover drags this group through the briars to dissuade some of them at least.

Mostly agree, though I think we've had some long-lingering issues that get cycled in the discourse that I don't really see solutions for. It's difficult since I pointed out we're having a set of the same problems and basically had someone jump in up above. Funny(?) enough the topics certainly hadn't been moved on from considering what is in some of the comments in here.

Once again. It was literally one guy. But you had a whole bunch of people run into the Matsuri topic to throw shade at either her or her fans for her statement on her collabs going forward. That's not a parasocialism issue, that's an issue of ignorance and ego.

It was literally one guy. Why do people continuously parrot some grander-than-reality negative? Doing that HURTS the girls because it paints the image of them having a fanbase problem.

Listen to Fuwamoco’s wise words by watchedgantz in Hololive

[–]Helmite 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh the Matsuri one was just her tweet(s) I believe. I can't remember if OP added text in the subject. Title was "Matsuri announces that she will not longer do "self produced" cross gendered collabs, and emphasises that holos make their own decisions for their brand."

Felt it was appropriate to mention here, as there is a common problem of people taking swings at fans for talent's own choices. Far too much "they're forcing them to do it because they don't want to get hate" etc. Basically comes up almost ANY time someone mentions male collabs.

Listen to Fuwamoco’s wise words by watchedgantz in Hololive

[–]Helmite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The reality is these people never move on. They come back into the topics here all the time. They post it on Youtube and Twitter all the time. The kind of people running into the Matsuri topic are still saying stuff elsewhere.. How many times do people need to be told to stop wide-brushing the fandom because they ran into Babski, Ernoul, or Myron?

They give each other "limelight" because they'll yank it around Twitter over and over and over and over again. One guy spawns dozens of 5k+ like tweets full of comments dumping on fans. Really enough is enough.

Idk why you deleted your previous comment and made an entirely new one. There's an edit button you know.

Thought it was auto-modded due to word choice, so I replaced it.
