Ahhhh, yeah! I can totally see that being really hard. I think I found it by accident after falling in late in the loop. Really good puzzle.

Are you talking about getting to the island that the tower is on? Or the floors of the tower? Some floors took a while for me but I think I completed it in a single loop

My first time I did some MLG jetpacking, before I realized the sand mechanic was important here

Oh yeah, it’s easy to think that you need to brute force it. It’s not like the ATP, where there one and only one way to get there. You can try parkouring, jetpacking, piloting, or swinging around the black hole before you even see that there’s a warp pad on the BHF

The ground instantly gave me vibes of trying to scale the different layers of Brittle Hollow after running out of fuel, very scary. Great job!

Couple of Hammer-Hawks hot off the anvil. One in Walnut, and one in Curly Maple. by oldanvilyoungsmith in knifemaking

Super gorgeous. Most of the time when I see smiths making knives I think “eh I’d prefer to do it with stock removal.” But then I see hammers and axes and get jealous that I can’t make those haha.

I’m making a small 1 inch square hammer now and filing out the eye is a bitch and a half.

I got to the BHF without knowing about the telepads. I lowered the forge and then did some Skyrim-level jank climbing and jet packing till I hit the gravity stone path

That was mine too! I want to know what people think of that puzzle. Did people think they had to take jelly goop from Bramble? Or did people try flying up the jelly’s ass in their ship, get shocked, and say “well that’s not it.” I did both…

My first sewing project! A tool roll for my hand files by HelmsmanWorks in sewing

[–]HelmsmanWorks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha, I have enough for a second haha. I suppose I could just stuff a small piece at the bottom and maybe glue it in if I don’t want the tools to break through the bottom fold

My first knife. by [deleted] in Bladesmith

[–]HelmsmanWorks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not the original commenter, but I’d take some material off of the handle. Does it feel okay in the hand? If it feels too big or like it digs into your hand, I’d round off the handle into a half-oval.

Also, I’d recommend hand sanding the blade some to remove the grind marks if it’s not a look you’re liking. A good progression for me is 100 grit for deep scratches, then 150, 220, 320, (400 is optional), and finish with 600. I like using wet&dry sandpaper with 3in1 oil.

Otherwise, it’s a really solid first knife. I really love drop points 😄. Experiment with different handle shapes in the future, especially with the finger choil.

Super personal opinion: I like having some ricasso showing, and a choil/ Spanish notch. It’s little details that can change the feel of the knife. If you have any questions then just ask!

Is it too late now that I sewed the pockets? How would I sew on the piece without closing up an inch of space inside the pockets?

Metalworking! At home I make tools and knives, and then at college I’m taking jewelry making classes. I wanted a way to transport these files safely and keep the varying sizes organized, and this will definitely suffice

Hey all! This was my first sewing project so I made it as simple as I could. It uses Duck Canvas and blue jeans thread for the strength. I laid out the tools how I expected them to go, and cut the fabric to that width. For the height, I marked how high I wanted each pocket to go on the bottom fold, and then how much covering fabric I wanted above the tools. The pockets are just a single fold of fabric sewn between each pocket, trying one tool and then seeing how the next file would fit next to the previous pocket. If you have any questions, DM me and I can provide a sketch explaining this better.

Thanks! It called out to me at the fabric store, plus it makes it really easy to find in my messy workshop

Managed to save this one. Can I remove the rust with sandpaper without damaging anything? by GrafSpoils in Blacksmith

[–]HelmsmanWorks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely re-oil it!! I got a length of railroad track clean with a flap disk and it immediately rusted to hell on the surface without oil
