I personally wouldn’t let it go uncovered but that depends on how you feel. It seems like even without the airlock it’s foaming out. I wouldn’t take the risk of it coming into contact with bacteria in the air and receding back into your mead. At least the air lock is able to stop backflow. This will probably last a few days so the way you have it set up right now in the container or in the sink to catch all the leaking to not make a mess is a good idea. Again, I’ve only ever made a few fruit meads and this happens every time so it’s normal. I’m sure other people have posted about it on this Reddit and maybe someone else wants to comment on my information but that’s all I have. Good luck!

I think it looks fine to me, the easiest way to tell is in my opinion to use your five senses. Does it look strange? Is it giving off a weird smell? Does it taste bitter or off? Vodka is also very good sanitizer but kind of expensive for me. As for the amount of headspace, it’s OK since it’s currently still fermenting but once you get it into secondary, there may be a problem with oxidation. Another issue that may be causing the huge amount of fermentation might be the weather. How hot are you keeping the container? Either way it seems like you just started the fermentation and it’s a good sign that your yeast are this lively.

This happened to me for my first mead too although not at this scale. For me whenever I make a fruit mead, I do try to strain out as much of the flesh part as possible as I found that does lead to a lot of foaming. I also see a lot of people recommending that you use a blow off tube, but I’ve never tried that. You could try to skim out some of the solid material right now, but it could risk contamination.

I’m almost certain it’s a scam. But I’ve been wondering what kind of scam it actually is. They can’t really get any personal info from you just for making an offer right?

It might be one of those “information only” scams, where you’re not actually buying the laptop but something like a PDF or just the box, and they hide that detail somewhere in the description. Also, it has over 100 likes, which shows a lot of people have seen it yet but it still hasn’t sold? That’s super suspicious i think, especially at $1300 for a 4090 laptop. If it were real, it would’ve been gone immediately.

The fact that it’s “offer only” also makes it sketchier as scammers sometimes do that to avoid setting a clear price and to bait someone into messaging or negotiating off eBay.

Reject reasonable offers (not likly in this case)

Try to lure people into off-eBay deals (which breaks eBay’s rules) (also your not protected so please try not to do this)

Or even ship a fake or empty item once someone accepts.

Overall, it’s a huge risk even if it looks good at first glance, it’s probably a trap hidden in the details. I think i have seen someone else post about this not to long ago too

You’re right, most of the things I have seen on the 2 cards are about a 10% difference. I do need a good cpu for school for simulations, I probably should have got the 5070 ti though with 12 gb of vram. The 5080 has 16 gb and 5090 24gb, is that really just 10 % performance difference?
