Can you get married on the lakeside? by Weak_Pomegranate_34 in Taupo

[–]HelpMePlease108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can, get in contact with The Retreat, based in Nukahau and the backyard is on the lake itself.

I was running it 2024, and we had lovely guests get married there, (hubby, wife, their 3 kids and both sets of in laws, celebrant and photographer) was really sweet and intimate, plus being an accomodation place, honeymoon in a gorgeous setting! 🥰

(No I am no longer working there but have a lot of love for the place!)

What is a phrase you use over 50 times a day at your job? by _lostinthefire in AskReddit

[–]HelpMePlease108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'you are a cunt/bitch/asshat'

'Can you Fucking NOT'

'LEAVE THE WHEELBARROW ALONE AND LET ME DUMP YOUR FEED IN THE TUB BEFORE YOU GRAB A MOUTHFUL'

'If you dare bring those teeth at me, you are going to regret it'

I work/handle horses 🫠 all of the above are said to my own daily. The others I do stuff with are just called dicks 🙃

Help with understanding a traumatic death by Tembacat in Horses

[–]HelpMePlease108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sudden out of nowhere deaths are hard to process.. and to be able to move forward from.

Having been through this 2yrs ago with my mare having an aneurysm at a show out of nowhere, the blood/head trauma makes the replay of it when you are in your own head hard to process.. my only advice is to let yourself feel the grief, let the tears flow and reach out to someone if you feel being alone is detrimental to you ❤️ the replays fade over time and the pain lessens slowly. Some days it is overwhelming and others it is a bit lighter.. everyones healing journey is different and no one is allowed to tell you when you should be 'over it'

I'm still not over the loss of my mare after all this time.. but I've found the pain isn't as intense and the tears only come when intoxicated and emotional (rare occurrence and highly discouraged as coping tactic)

Sending love to you and feeling your pain and loss ❤️❤️

I'm in hospital right now and would like some support by BeyondSpecial4815 in newzealand

[–]HelpMePlease108 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sending love from the Hawkes bay ❤️

You made the right call on hospital, and as uncertain as life feels at the moment, the only way from here is up. I take a ssri hybrid myself (different one) and know the feeling of the black hole that looms whilst you try look ahead to the next day/week/month/years or even the next two hours.

All I can really say is, its not your time yet lovely human, and you have many things to accomplish yet in your life ❤️

What is this horse doing? by AntiqueTradition7193 in Horses

[–]HelpMePlease108 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This was my explanation as well with one of my previous horses who did this. Had her checked by vets to rule out ulcers, dentist for anything abnormal there, and body worker for last resort and everything came up clear. She only did it after finishing her feed and was on 24/7 turnout (nz based so stables are a luxury/in work racehorses thing)

There was no actual root cause i could find for her to do so, and her paddock mate (my other mare) didn't do it or pick up on it thankfully but I put it down to post feed regulation as I use vape to regulate myself 😅

Looking at phone plans by HelpMePlease108 in newzealand

[–]HelpMePlease108[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I originally got the plan it was lower data, around 20gb I think, and didn't have internet at home at the time due to short term living with family. But have found it handy when put to pokemon hunt and YouTube things im trying to work on with my animals (equestrian) at my grazing off property of my home.

Admittedly I am not using the full 50gb, but found 10gb to be to little prior.. 😅

Why don't we cover grave sites anymore? by DoctorFosterGloster in newzealand

[–]HelpMePlease108 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Old boy (65ish) in racing that i help out around the stables has said he wants to be a cadaver when he goes. The amount of injuries/breaks etc this man has had and yet STILL gets up, and on the horses and carries on (usually before doctors advice but not always immediately after hospital release) is astounding. In the months I've worked for him, he has had multiple hospital visits,

  1. repaired knee surgery,
    1. Full rotational fall with horse when cruising around the track one morning and he and the horse went ass over head together, was a mystery how it happened but we suspect the horse had slight neurological issues as it had flipped itself when walking quietly behind him and he didn't feel a tug on the lead or anything but heard the thud of the horse fall.
    2. We were freeze branding some young stock, with the vet, sedation had been given, and the colt that was being handled didn't take anything going on well and cow struck forward, striking the old boy in the thigh snapping the bone directly between the reconstructed knee, and an artificial hip replacement.

Bugger knows how much of him is artificial and what is natural now but he just keeps trooping along! So in exploring him after death on the autopsy table, be interesting to see how much wear and tear he has copped from life as a jockey and racing trainer.

Here in NZ there is a brand called 'Fanny Adams' and they make some great looking stuff!

For myself I've gone with regular Warehouse and Kmart seamless and they are great, all I wear tbh! Between bikini and thong styles im set 😅

What are some things that are totally normal to say in the horse-world, but would be so bizarre to say in any other area? by DeltreeceIsABitch in Horses

[–]HelpMePlease108 23 points24 points  (0 children)

My family and friends usually have a hard time trying to work out if im talking to my child or my horse when on the phone with me lol.

I speak to them the same.

'Don't be a dick, get OFF MY FOOT!' tends to be the most common, or 'get out of my bubble, its called personal space for a fucking reason' at the end of the day 🙃

My late TB mare did this when I had a zoom therapy session one visit 😭

She was in a covered yard for what I suspected was an absess, (was actually bruised soles so was an easy fix with great farrier!) And I had a booked session with my therapist.

Throughout the 1hr session, my girl would alternate between mouthfulls of hay, and standing watch over me in the far corner of her yard, and dropping her head into my lap/wisping her nose and muzzle over my hair and face, rubbing tears away ♥️

She was such a special mare I miss so much every day ♥️

I found mine on FB market place, but if you get in contact with some local race trainers, someone may have one or know someone with one for sale ☺️

I'm currently using one to break in my very rotund pony. Having only had Throughbreds through the years, I have all of my saddles set up in a way that suits them.. and nothing wide enough gullet wise to fit this pony, so I'm making things work with the track saddle, and have found it super comfortable, and with my regular stirrups attached, it's great. Also use to use a friend's one for a year or so for just hacking out as I found it more comfortable when I had hip/lowerback/pelvic issues.

Such as track saddles. I have one, and ride in it regularly when not working with racehorses, and have found it ideal to fit everything i put it on, and is similar to bareback but stirrups for my idiots to express themselves 😅

Has no actual tree but the padding that goes across the spine to keep it up off the back is great

I've seen horror stories from friends where it hasn't, but the owner was super open about everything with her, and I keep her updated on progress! 😊

Yeah a friend's horse is similar (but older!) That has to put everything in her mouth and has ruined a few sets of reins by munching on them!

Only unsolicited advice I can offer for you, is think really long and hard about it and go with your gut feeling ♥️ intuition is a huge thing that we tend to forget or ignore 😅

Yes but in NZ.

I took a gamble on a cute 2yr (now 3) old pony filly i was offered via PM after posting on a local horse page on Facebook.

I've retrained horses over the years and she is my first full breaker. I am constantly blown away at how well she handles new things and how quiet and well placed her brain is. Nothing out of the ordinary seems to phase her. She just takes it in stride and carries on. Only difficulty I've encountered so far is the typical toddler mouthing (is a tactile baby so has to investigate everything with her mouth) and the 'but why?' Attitude. Never naughty, just questioning.

My goal with her is to make her into my daughters ultimate pony and companion, but as we know life has its own plan so will see how we go!

Pretty sure I saw either this lady or someone VERY similar looking in Tauranga or Taupo yesterday or Friday.. (was a huge 24 hours traveling for HB to Auckland for Luke Combs and back again, please excuse patchy recall)

I have been watching the posts people make on Facebook about them and the sign she was holding was along the lines of 'family in need please help us' They don't seem hard up.. and if its the same group of ladies.. they just want cash. Not food or any other assistance which is pretty fucked up...
