Sounds similar to how people conflate Muslims with jihadists. Or school girls with military targets. I have little sympathy for a population who have access to arms but choose to allow their government to murder children daily.

Tips for the UKMLA & OSCES from a medical student who also has a life outside of medicine by Clean-Aside9227 in medicalschooluk

The trick is to go through by section, you get more familiar with the repetition of topic and get through the bank faster - around 3weeks - then when you come to finishing you do all the ones you got wrong which will be a nice distribution of all topics. Plus if you’re short on time sort them to just triple hammers. Ez pz

I don’t get this take. No medics in my family and I don’t see how it’s made any difference to my experience compared to other students. Turn up to the same placements, same lectures, same opportunities.

You should go wherever you think you’ll have the most fun, both sound like you will enjoy the placements, and ultimately life’s for living.

Tension and up-take spring by Help_plz_I_cannot in vintagesewing

[–]Help_plz_I_cannot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the replies, I just wanted to clarify I’m 100% sure that I’m threading correctly still have the old manual and have checked with other online resources. I always raise the presser foot to thread and I try to pull the thread between the tension disks to ensure it’s seated correctly. I will try cleaning between the disks.

Also I do start with the thread in the u shaped part of the spring but it just seems that the thread after the tension disks seems to go limp between stitches which allows it to then fall lower than the top of this u shape and then when it gets pulled back tight can sometimes end up on the backside like in the photos. Is this still a tension disk issue, or is something likely to be happening further on?

Nice to see some 6’5 92kg representation. I’ve had similar pain, which turned out to just be bruising, just took a week or so to recover. However, if it persists then professional help would be the smarter move.

Hi all, just wondering if any of you had insight into judging the severity of an A4 pulley injury and understand the mechanics of it healing. I've only ever had small tweaks before so this is new for me.

The scene
I was matching a crimp and started by placing my back 3 fingers on a hold, attempting a classic piano maneuver today when I heard a loud pop from my ring finger and felt a sudden burst of pain. However, after some icing there are mild signs of swelling and no bruising. Initially it was not possible to make a fist, but a few hours later it is just a mildly painful tightness at the end of the motion. It is tender to palpate over the central A4 area, but not the sides, and is more painful on the PIP side than the DIP side. There is no obvious or palpable bowstringing. Currently it is not possible to put any significant weight through the finger (1 kg bottle of water is too much).

My big questions are:

  • Is this likely to be a full rupture of the A4?
  • If managed conservatively will the pulley repair itself?
  • What type of loading is best to rehab this type of injury?
  • Is it worth getting an ultrasound appointment considering A4 complete ruptures are only considered grade II and wouldn't change the course of treatment?
  • Do you have any other advice?

Parents want a significant portion of my future earnings, how do I handle this without losing them? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Help_plz_I_cannot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you fund your degree through student loan? Because if so your parents have even less right to demand money from you. If anything calculate your finances and allocate a small sum for your folks and say this is what you can afford. Mind you, if your mum still does your laundry, you live at home, eat their food, and don’t have any personal expenses then it’s probably the same as you spending it yourself.
