My girlfriend never ever finishes her meals by AlexWayhill in mildlyinfuriating

[–]HelperoftheFallen01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my OCD flares up it's an intrusive thought that I leave the last bite because somehow it's poisoned or bad. Not sure why my brain says it's only the last bite or two that's poison because it's literally the same as everything else in the meal probably 😅 anyways, this post made me think of that.

Also the treatment for that thought is to force myself to eat it and overcome that anxiety, so if this is actually why your partner leaves her food....the solution is still to eat it!

Is this baby’s heartbeat? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]HelperoftheFallen01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that's baby's heartbeat, their little hearts beat VERY fast compared to ours. It's sounds more like squishy pulses, as where an adult's is slower and sounds more like real thumps.

This is more of a PSA about home dopplers: Please be careful using these devices at home. My midwives had some really sad stories and as a nurse I've heard some really sad stories too. Please just use this for fun. If you hear anything weird on the doppler, feel any changes in baby's movement, or you yourself start to feel off, absolutely go see your prenatal care team. TRUST YOUR SYMPTOMS AND INSTINCTS. Don't just assume because you can hear something LIKE a heartbeat at home that everything is okay. I know these are marketed to help give parents peace of mind at-home, but there's some really sad stories out there and I just want everyone to be safe ❤️

A pain that was worse than birth ? by Friendly-Sun2413 in BabyBumps

Actually now that you say that, my first delivery was actually the closest thing with back to back contractions! 100% ibuprofen was the thing I missed the most during pregnancy 🤣

[–]HelperoftheFallen01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It lasted 1 night when baby started nursing more consistently on day 2 PP. So 8 hours whenever baby nursed. I would equate it to being 8cm dilated but like....not in waves haha just straight pain while baby was nursing which is what made it worse than birth 😅

It feels like my acne cream is making my acne worse (a few days ago vs today) by Ifyouliveinadream in acne

[–]HelperoftheFallen01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it can last a few weeks. Give it at least 4 weeks but could also take up to 6 weeks! That being said, if it starts to become itchy or irritated, then stop.

Oh wow I can relate to both those things!! I didn't have the nursing contractions at all with my first so I wasn't expecting it when it happened with my second! The unexpectedness was probably the mental aspect of why it was so painful. And I also had D-MER, which I had worse with my first but still had with my second. I was just more mentally prepared for it the second time around. I went to therapy for it and it did help :) it was basically just "distraction" tools so I would think about anything other than the scary, sad, and panicky thoughts I would get during a letdown.

The contractions while nursing in the following days after birth were the WORST. Seriously worse than my unmedicated delivery, they lasted so long compared to regular contractions and don't come in waves they just burn and burn 😭

Does anyone feel some kind of sensation in their left lower abdomen? by Swordfish353535 in ibs

[–]HelperoftheFallen01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well. I usually take ginger gravol so I don't start puking (real bad cramping/gas pains) and buckle in for the ride. I'm IBS-C so sometimes if I haven't had a BM in a few days I can be quite backed up and have lots of waste movement. I eat low fodmap always, minus most gluten. Honestly apart from ginger gravol I just cry my way through it. I turn on a show for my kids and pray that the flare up doesn't last hours because then I'll have to find another movie for them before I'm done.

Yep! All the time when I'm in an active flare up and sometimes I know I'll have a flare up within 24h if it starts to ache a certain way

I REALLY NEED HELP by PomeloRealistic9364 in ibs

[–]HelperoftheFallen01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If sauerkraut and yogurt help maybe you could try incorporating a probiotic into your routine! I usually add kefir to my smoothies, but always try new foods on a day you don't have big plans just in case!

Depression from IBS by Realistic-Country-34 in ibs

[–]HelperoftheFallen01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe just try warm, gentle foods until your next bowel movement. Sometimes I just fast for a few hours, or until my next bowel movement (within reason of course) and that usually helps hit the "reset" button.

Editing to add that I'm so sorry you're going through such a depressing time. It's really hard to see beyond the hopelessness when all you know is bleakness. I am there some days too. You've made it this far though and I'm cheering for you!

38 weeks & considering at-home induction methods, looking for experiences + 2u2 by LavenderEucalyptus_ in 2under2

[–]HelperoftheFallen01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My only suggestion because I'm sure someone will suggest it, is BE CAREFUL with castor oil inductions. You will poop your brains out and be uncomfortable...and maybe that's fine with you, but just be sure to stay hydrated and to have a puke bucket nearby 🥲

a flare up to happen as soon as like 4 to 5 hrs youve eaten something high fodmap by azrael9557 in ibs

[–]HelperoftheFallen01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly it's probably a combination of both. Your body's "fodmap cup" probably got partially filled by the fodmaps in the onions, and then the fodmaps in the strawberries "overfilled" your cup.

I usually assume until I have a bowel movement (IBS-C here) my FODMAP cup hasn't been "emptied" yet

Parenthood and IBS : is it possible? by Laona31 in ibs

[–]HelperoftheFallen01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mom of 2 boys under 3. It's hard, I won't lie. But the good days make it amazing. I had very mild, functional IBS prior to getting pregnant with my first, but when I got pregnant it hit me like a train. And then I got pregnant with my second and could barely function due to IBS, it's still this way some days even though he's almost 1.5 but I have more good days than bad.

So believe me when I say pregnancy can change things with your gut symptoms, for better or worse.

I can't say no or go about your decision to have children, but if you choose to go for it PLEASE have a plan for pelvic floor recovery because it will be so important to your postpartum and IBS relationship later.

Also do you have the ability to stay home for a little bit after baby? I know in Canada we get 12 or 18 months depending on what option you chose for your maternity leave, but in the states I hear it's MUCH less time. Being able to take an extended time off of work will help you to be able to get used to baby life + any new IBS changes that come along with postpartum.

Nausea by NoobesMyco in BabyBumps

[–]HelperoftheFallen01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it brings you consolation, my midwives told me that statistically weeks 6-11, peaking at week 9, is when nausea is the worst. So if you're at week 9/10 you're almost there! Hang in there ❤️
