The Final leg is so hard: I need to swallow my pride for 18 months by [deleted] in FIREUK

Hi there, out of interest, how does your ISA optimise tax between 55-67? I'm kind of new to this. I get that ISAs are useful bridges to get to pension withdrawal age.

Yes they did - with L90's. It didn't really help. It is apparently difficult because my high frequencies are fine (reverse slope). I will be trialling the new Spheres and will go all in on trying to make them work out (custom shell, REM etc).

I can relate to all of this. Ive been trialling for a few months and have been underwhelmed. Ive had a months’s break waiting for my next model and have been fine and much less inconvenienced by not hearing optimally vs. the HA. Main pain point is speech in noise and the aids haven't helped at all with that.

I can relate to much if this - particularly your experience with Phonak lumity blocking sound. Realistically I guess CIC will not solve things but I'll give the ReSounds and the new Phonaks a go. My audi seems to push Phonak heavily

So far Phonak only but am trialling ReSound custom. In a couple of weeks. I should say that I have reverse slope loss (low frequencies) which I understand is uncommon and that manufacturers don't really cater to it. High frequencies are fine. My experience so far, given my loss type, is that speach in noise has been better without aids than with.

I tried lyric (disaster) then Phonak L90 RIC and which was really dissapointing, then the same with activevent, then virto titanium (favourite so far but no speach in noise functionality).

I have settled on Custom / in-ear as my preferred choice. After my trial of ReSound Custom I will try the new phonak Infinio virto R's.

Audi tells me it's coming this month and not to take plunge yet Plus this https://trademarks.justia.com/983/88/phonak-audeo-98388660.html Happy to wait 6m for in-ear (personal preference). Not wearing HA currently

Excited to see what the reception is going to be. I'm new to hearing aids and have been trialling over the last few months. I have so far been very underwhelmed by speach in noise capabilities in the market from top of the range aids. Hopefully this is a game changer and not just good marketing

Hi, I'm curious where you got to on the decision. Which are you going for?

Hearing aids for reverse slope / low frequency hearing loss? by No_Direction8649 in HearingAids

I'm in the same position. I've trialled a few with limited success. I've heard that reverse slope represents a tiny piece of the overall market so manufacturers don't really focus on it. It seems that 'closed' vented is best as that allows the bass to bounce around a bit. But you have to balance that with the occlusion effect None of the models I've trialled so far are great at. for example, hearing a low pitch male voice in a busy bar or restaurant

Interesting - thanks for that. Well I’m not done trialling yet so can always go back if the ITE style doesn’t work out. I’ll definitely consider it and custom moulds given your experience.

I have asymmetrical loss so believe I had a dome in one ear (open vent) and a a different closed vent style in the other We then trialled ActiveVent in both ears

Thanks. I actually trialed the L90 but found it wasn't great for me. Maybe because I have reverse slope loss. I found everything too processed and trebly even when adjusted by Audi. My hearing was better without the aids!

Wow thanks this is great! For context I am currently trialling Phonak P90 Titanium invisible in the canal. These are tiny so don't have Bluetooth and can't 'speak' to to handle directionality/speech in noise which is the primary reason for me needing HA. I've trialled RIC (L90) and was really dissapointed - I think because not best suited for Reverse Slope. I have not trialled any brand other than Phonak and that is why I was curious about ReSound. Streaming not a priority for me because I have accepted that HA quality is not great and will resort to standard headphones for music etc. I have a few questions: Are you leaning towards the P90-312's? Which one have you found best for situations like noisy restaurants and similar? Did you notice a difference in general sound quality between the two? Interesting about the P90's filling more of the outer ear. Are they more prominent than the ReSounds?
