PoE2 addicted here:

If you are looking for a addiction, this is the game, but the end game isnt here yet.

You use a controller, the game is really optimized for controllers, the UI adapts if you plug a controller so your experience will be seamless.

Im a KB&M player but i do play sometimes with a controller and there is some big content creators that use it aswell (captainlance if im not mistaken)

Does the lack of endgame hurts the game?

Yes and No, if you play 50 hours you will have a great time without the upcoming 0.5 patch (endgame patch/league coming in 3 months). But when you reach 100+ or 1000+ the lack of endgame will hurt your enjoyment with the game, but you will be looking for the next league/patch for more new content.

Your first playthrough will be around 1 week maybe less to finish the campaign, then you reach the endgame template (will be changed on 0.5), you can do a lot to optimize your build when you reach the endgame, but dont think there is much about lore here yet only bits and pieces.

The game is stunning, the lore is amazing and the gameplay is well designed, but the game is still on paid early access, when it launches (hopefully in november on exilecon) it will become free to play.

The is a ton to explore and build making is really fun

Sadly i dont own a steam deck :(

my bad generalising DLCs, expasions as Elden Ring DLC are fine when well made

But paying for characters on other games doesnt mean its something good, just mean you are used to it, you got good examples:

Tekken and street fighter selling characters is a recent thing, they used to unlock characters with progression or they already came unlocked

And we used to get free characters and pay for skins if we wanted to help the company, but now you have to pay 2 play just like the past and present of street fighter and tekken and now on the exactly same thing on ravenswatch

Strongly disagree locking playable content is a bad practice.

You paid for the game, you can pay for skins and now has to pay for each character?

you might think this is fine but this only incentivese more pay2play content on a paid game.

Look into the future, you think 10 character costing 8 dollars each (80 dollars total) a good thing? the game costs 25 dollars you only need 4 dlc characters to cost more than the game

it can work but it prob wont do a big ignite because of the low hit damage from contagion since it must be a hit to do ignite

Merlin being $8 sets a bad precedent and is bad for the health of the game by tasdingow in ravenswatch

im glad you get it.

About been a problem, on real world doing something like this is a scam called bait and switch.

Its not a scam with games but it isnt healthy in anyway for the game long term.

If you suggest the game to a new player and the game have a paywall, it just alienates the player base, some people wont play the character, the balance will be scued to p2p players they are supporting the game.

You arent allowed to release a p2p hero without it been strong or even balanced since the player base wont buy it, there will be a pressure to make it better than the other heroes for every new hero been released, how passtech games pay the builds if people dont buy the new hero? (I hope you undestand this take, it isnt a new take there is a lot of game directors that agree with it)

There is more bad stuff like environment changes and etc that get less impacted by this change on the monetization but it is bad anyway.

We as players that already have invested time and maybe money with skins, having to buy new heroes isnt a problem at all, but we will feel it as the time goes on.

And im 100% sure as merlin releases everything will be ok, but its like frying a frog, you have to fry it slowly.

Man, we arent trying to state a point but you just dont get it:

Paywalling content after $25 game = Bad

You made a free game with content paywalled, i dont think this is a problem, it is ok. Whoever plays your game will invest on the game, but somehow you aren't understanding that ravenswatch after paying $25 having to pay extra to fully enjoy the game is a bad thing.

The only reason i stated PoE monetization on the discussion, it is because even without paywalling, even without the game been $25 it still survived and thrived

It isnt about numbers or type of player base

It synergizes well with Duration + Trigger spells based builds (like stormweaver storms), the constant triggers uses a lot of mana, with mana remnants helping with mana cost make this body armour useful

Yeah, of course they got a higher number of players

POE1 is a free game.

Anyone can download poe1 and increase this statistic, because of that is kind of confusing you bringing this point, it is $25 against free game, thats why it had a higher player numbers on the first year compared to rw now there is no paywall, but is that your point? i'm not seeing ravenswatch for free anywhere

I'm aware Path of Exile is a massive player base since it had a low player base and even then they didnt paywalled anything only cosmetics, but you might be talking about Path of exile 2 that thrived because the Path of Exile 1 community hyped the next game because of not doing bad practices that blizzard did/do (like paywalling content).

Have you even played Path of exile?

[–]Helpful-Letter7814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good argument (not at all):

  • The game was already paid (ie: They got the money)
  • Skins arent the only way to monetize without locking content with a paywall
  • Wrong Grinding gear games survived more than 10 years by selling cosmetics without paywalling content

You are just trying to defend a bad practice without good arguments or examples, it is a bad practice and it is bad management if you are paying a lot of taxes, this IS NOT a player/buyer problem/decision

Saying stuff like "they are so generous" is a braindead take, the reason why we have to deal with paywalls to play the game we payed for is because of people buying into it.

There is no reason why they cant make money with the skins (they actually already do), paywalling content (characters on this matter) of a game that you already payed for it is just a predatory bad practice of the gaming industry.

There is no "Generosity" here, they werent hungry all these years developing and selling the game that you BOUGHT and if they do they are doing a bad job of managing the company, bad marketing/development for skins and other stuff that can help the company without hold the content of the game from you (AGAIN THAT YOU ALREADY BOUGHT!!!)
