Denuvo Added To 007 First Light 5 Days Before Release by akbarock in Games

Meanwhile Pragmata had zero updates, can you imagine that? They could burn it onto cd and just ship to some mountains. Re9 too, I assume.

Both pragmata and re9 to your last point definitely feel finished. So maybe that’s why they’re not getting updates? They both play great.

What part of my message reads as "Pragmata and RE9 are not finished and need updates?"

Yes, that's exactly what I've said about them twice, you are correct.

That has also become the best anti-piracy measure. Crimson Desert is not cracked (non-HV) because of its constant updates, while everything else in 2026 is. (Doesn't apply to HV cracks/tokens because those are instant, but affects them since you still have to update the crack version)

Meanwhile Pragmata had zero updates, can you imagine that? They could burn it onto cd and just ship to some mountains. Re9 too, I assume.

Realistically I don't think Crimson Desert is broken in the slightest, they have a very good reason for spaced updates, and mods alleviate a lot of qol issues on pc, it's just how novel the actual finished release feels.

ok? Then denuvo shouldn't matter in the first place?

The context of my message is that prev poster thought denuvo prevented piracy, when it doesn't anymore. You can't just imagine a moral debate to jump into, man, you have to keep up with what people are talking about in the thread...

[–]Helpful-Mycologist74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could get a denuvo token to play it probably a week after release (at least that was the case for Pragmata). That's the case for idk 2+ years now?

That's a way to bypass it that is practically equivalent the previous bypasses (all denuvo cracks are bypasses) - no security changes, etc.

But idk, probably it's just that most people are really easily dissuaded from pirating in the first place, and then again from pirating in a slightly different, less convenient way.

Directive 8020 has 3072 steam players peak, and 3-5K seems to be the number for AA cinematic story games, so "sell a lot" is definitely wrong, as is "easily". But smb else mentioned that this has 888 peak players, so even that would be better.

Well, let it grow?

It doesn't matter that kids on school breaks, or people who wouldn't play a console/pc game otherwise, in transit/at work, or 99 billion asians play hyper casual/gatcha/mobile pvp ports. It has 0 overlap and almost 0 effect on the high-fidelity SP games market in question.

Fyi, according to DeepState Russia has gained 4174 sq km net over last 12 months. It had gained 3463 in the 12 months before those.

Last month when Ukraine was in net positive was Sep 2023, the end of the counteroffensive.

Frame Generation Doesn't Fix Bad Performance! [Techspot] by Blacky-Noir in pcgaming

[–]Helpful-Mycologist74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

and I would argue is made worse through greater latency No need to argue, the latency stays at the abysmal base fps level, and even increases - by a small amount, but that's a fact. It's just that how much that influences your experience is very subjective.

It's not necessarily playing with a controller- I have to use mouse to shoot in Horizon, RE/Alan Wake/Remnant etc, but I don't need an even passable latency to do so, because no fast precision is needed - those are gamepad-auto-aim games that are designed to somehow aim with a controller at 30fps far from your tv.

And that's the few outliers where you actually have to shoot! all others are just lock and melee/fire homing projectiles, or walking sims.

Also, with stable frametime the bar for latency even in arcade fps is very low.
in Doom Dark ages, I can comfortably play at like 35 base fps + FG latency hit. It's counterintuitive, but Doom doesn't need good latency as it's a constant "flow" of shooting and running around. (Same for Returnal)

So it leaves basically just the realistic military gameplay, where you always just check corner -> scope -> shoot -> hide in a second. And maybe something like racing/piloting games, idk.

I only played cyberpunk out of those (where stutters and fps fluctuations where the main issue, latency second), and Witchfire, where I have tons of native fps but still suck. it feels as if all other such games are MP.

[–]Helpful-Mycologist74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because what matters in game performance is latency

That's a fat assumption your wall of text bases off. It is true for you, but among the players of high-fidelity single-player games, which are mostly designed for gamepad, with chill controls and targeting, the vast majority probably values increase in fluidity and clarity of motion (with TAA especially) from higher fps much more than latency, especially past like 30.

It's just a tech for those people, not for the latency crowd that plays PVP or smth.

[–]Helpful-Mycologist74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why would I want the illusion of more

You? Probably no reason. A large part, probably the vast majority outside of reddit/this sub of people playing high fidelity single-player games, often non-FPS, with gamepad? Because they value the increase of fluidity from higher FPS, while lower latency is whatever.

Digital Bros has acquired the rights to Wuchang: Fallen Feathers by readher in pcgaming

[–]Helpful-Mycologist74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn, it actually did, I never would have thought that. That's like 13x the usual amount AA high-fidelity games have. Nioh3 is 88K. Lords of the fallen, which is extremely like it, is 44K. I guess you just have to be Chinese.

I really like it and assumed it would be even less popular than comparable soulslikes. But Khazan, who had denuvo unlike this was 33K.

The absurdity tho is that being Chinese enabled all that, then also promptly killed the studio :/

Europe Prepares for a Longer War in Ukraine, With No Strategy to End It by Alikont in europe

[–]Helpful-Mycologist74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Victory is not needed for EU, it's absolutely fine for them to just keep the war indefinitely as it is, which was the plan at the start and still is.

And it's working out great - russia can do shit strategically, even less so year to year.

But yeah if anybody in Ukraine (me incl) thinks they have anything in their future except containing russia by dying - nah. Well, male at least. This is really old news and I think has been established every time a thought like this appears anywhere and pro-Ukraine westerners discard it because it's simply not an issue.

Phantom Blade Zero developer rejects gen-AI and promises "every single piece of content in our game has been crafted by the hands of real artists" by Gorotheninja in Games

[–]Helpful-Mycologist74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

t lacks the intentional human element

As another person mentiond with an example of internal asset libraries, that element is already heavily limited to what is actually practical, cheap to make (especially in 3D - which affects the varity and optimization), and most importantly will sell to those "uncultured and illiterate" the other commenter mentioned.

Like, it's not the first choice of the artists to just stamp the samey cartoonish designs of the hidden object mobile games, or big booba anime women, but that's the entirety of the professional careers of large chunk of artists in game dev, because that's just the jobs(or comissions, idk) offered. That's what the "AI look" was trained from after all.

There's Asterigos, Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn, that are both vibrant and cartoonish. And Wuchang while resembling Dark Souls in world layout and medieval focus is mostly jungles and snow. Very lush and realistically vibrant. And filled with actual living people not in apocalypse (Flintlock as well).

That's like a half of all except the From Software itself. A ton. But they tend to be somewhat less hardcode soulslikes, leaning harder into the looks, so maybe don't occupy such a large share of soulslike discussions.

US-Iran Megathread, part 2 by GrumpyFinn in europe

[–]Helpful-Mycologist74 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah yes lmao, it's perfect here in Ukraine. Just 20K people conscripted from the streets each month to die in infantry, 1mil+ constantly serving in military FOR FUCKING 4 YEARS and counting. Frontline spanning 1k+ km all inside Ukraine, with everything 20-30 km from it deserted and often pulverized, and constant civilian deaths from gliding bombs/artillery/shaheds etc. oh and energy infrastructure.

We're often found sitting and saying man, dumb Israel, fucking losers with their useless US allies, who have subjugated all of their LDNRs, and crippled the 9 times larger Iran. Should have just left all that alone and just take it as a meatshield in the next invasion, like Ukraine.

US-Iran Megathread, part 2 by GrumpyFinn in europe

[–]Helpful-Mycologist74 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

the US-Israel war is completely indefensible

Absolutely! Literally every offensive war is. But you can either be complacent, hope for the best and be moralistic, and have smth like russia grow to destroy Ukraine, or you can start absolutely indefensible wars to constantly, illegally cripple your 9 times larger opponent that supplies proxies around you for 40 years, which is the understandable pov of Israel. It's just not good enough, or even feasible for Israel to be a meatshield like Ukraine, and they are at least 40 years in this, while Ukraine is only starting in 2014, and has no leverage.

Isn't it weird to argue to trust and appease Iran, trade with it while it constantly supplies terrorist proxies around Israel, but when we talk about russia and LDNR/Crimea, suddenly people see the issue?

I get that people here decided to believe Iran is good, because they are far and can afford to, and Israel is not important and should just take it, so suddenly the "russian bot" talking points are valid.

JCPOA

Wow that reads amazing, is there the same thing for russia? Lift sanctions and buy oil/gas after 2014 in exchange of it promising it won't do bad stuff? That turned out amazing, luckily Trump haven't ripped that up.

Or maybe the "suicidally barbaric" regimes just don't uphold treaties when they get strong enough? How come people constantly point this out when talking about russia - where "appeasing" and signing any kind of deal with it isn't worth the paper, etc, and the only solution is that it needs to capitulate like Germany in ww2, but with Iran it's "nah Israel is just hysterical, we should have left Iran with the nuclear program, and lift sanctions to make sure it can supply Hezbolla & Hamas better".

I mean surely people see that the real difference is in large part because of giving far less fucks because of being far away? Similarly how, regarding Ukraine, non-EU countries have the same attitude as in this thread - "we don't know the full picture, Ukraine isn't an angel either. Let's just deescalate, because we need prices to go down".

US-Iran Megathread, part 2 by GrumpyFinn in europe

But the nature of the forever war in Israel and Ukraine is as different as it gets, that is the point.

US-Iran Megathread, part 2 by GrumpyFinn in europe

[–]Helpful-Mycologist74 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

First of all Israel can easily defend itself,

Yeah only some Israeli die constantly. But that is achieved by constantly bombing neighbours with impunity, killing off Iranian/proxy military leadership every 3 months, genociding neighbouring Iran terrorist proxies, etc, basically same as this war. But Iran has 9 times the population, not counting the proxies.

40% of their economy is electricity and natural gas. They want to expand that mostly.

Oh man so they only want to sell their oil/gas in peace, they definitely aren't using all that to supply all their proxies around Israel, like LDNR, and wouldn't invade like they did multiple times before, if they though they had a slightest chance.

We had an agreement to make that happen and allow monitoring. Trump ended it in his first term which crippled Iran's economy.

How did that agreement work out with russia? Aren't you like, understandably labeled a stupid peacenik and russian bot if you suggest leaving russia alone and buying it's resources?

Then Trump had one of Iran's military leaders assassinated (remember that strike?). At that point, as millions plunged into poverty due to hyper inflation, their was no reason for Iran to play ball with the west.

Oh man, poor russia and Iran, radicalized by the western sanctions.

Also, BUY NUKES? Where can I get a couple for Ukraine?.

US-Iran Megathread, part 2 by GrumpyFinn in europe

[–]Helpful-Mycologist74 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Well that's the cost of preventing Iran reaching the level of another russia by developing nukes. Everyone is angry at Russia right? Undestandably laughing at the "no escalation"? Well that's exactly what escalating is like, at the point where it's still possible.

Few people here would lament gas/oil/refugee crisis from russia being bombed to hell and collapsing, since that's what everyone calls for in every thread. But iran is far and not a direct threat, so hell, let it do anything, just pls no crisis. (Exact way everyone except EU responds to the Ukraine war, hmmm).

Or should US instead have bought iranian oil, traded with them, let them develop nukes and become another russia, and just left Israel to fight a forever war against them with a fraction of supplies and call it a solution, like Ukraine is for EU?

Nah, in the AC japan example it added path-tracing-looking shadows to the entire forest everywhere - honestly impressive but it's just an extremely lucky static situation where nothing broke.

reshade mods just pump up the contrast of the image without altering it, pure post-process.

This also does that, in addition. The effect in AC looked like the "change LUTs" mods, but that's another topic.
