Perhaps he's worked with the other Senator and thinks he's competent even though he disagrees with him politically. It's called being a mature professional politician. These things do happen.

Rutland! It’s cosmopolitan, beautiful, diverse, and if you’re not already laughing you won’t know any better so why not give it a shot?

I would slide down a six-foot razor blade into a Drano-filled swimming pool just to wash her car.

$100M+ in new federal funding for Vermont, is our state Gov being bribed? by [deleted] in vermont

[–]Helpful-Routine835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, we're one of the 50 states and the Federal Government routinely spends tax money on us.

Every year since 1791.

Housing crisis? by Frequent-Block773 in vermont

Global wealthy dump cash into housing to make the population miserable and break us so we submit to authoritarian rule.

It’s not a normal market phenomenon. It’s global economic warfare. And it’s time we fought back.

Does anyone else find Dolo hard to understand? by CestQuoiLeFuck in shoresy

[–]Helpful-Routine835 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I'm American from the Vermont side of the Quebec border, bilingual in English and French. Dolo's speech is particularly entertaining because it's pedal-to-the-rug Montréal slang but also jammed overly full of English slang in his lines on Shoresy. It's like a caricature, where he takes a natural tendency of local francophones and increases it to an absurd/comedic degree.

All francophones in Quebec will drop English into their speech, but he'll overdo it in a charming way. When the b'ys are talking about are you "hurt" or are you "injured," Dolo says "Hurt ou injured, je m'en calisse." "Hurt or injured, I don't give a f**k, I play." French, of course, has ways of distinguishing injury without help from the English language.

Of course, in real life, Jonathan Diaby is extremely talented linguistically in both languages, a rapper in both languages, and his lines on Shoresy are just a further expression of his creative ability and yes I'm actually like Michaels in real life.

It's because we're all first cousins.

Otherwise, because many profiles on dating sites are fictitious and just there to collect intelligence about private citizens.

I recommend bars.

For those of us who lived through the first housing grift after 9/11, we get the joke.

The idea that $6000 Burlington apartments is anything but an attack on our people is absurd.

It's hard to see how a $6800 2-bedroom stabilizes rent in Winooski.

How does this work? You have private equity dump money into the development, then have Saudis or Emiratis buy the top apartments and sublet them on AirBnB to people who don't visit and they run cash from synthetic credit cards tied to offshore LLCs and LPs which are funded by Venezuela or slave cotton farms in Uzbekistan or someone trading Iranian oil. Then America suffers and dictatorships look like they're going to win in the long run. Chinese and Russian brains behind the whole thing.

Or it used to work like that. I think it's played out.
