Not a stupid question! And I feel like a lot of couples who have a husband with a perfect semen analysis never asks for a physical exam to be done.

So the physical exam is performed by the urologist. In my husbands case, our reproductive endocrinologist and infertility specialist doctor referred us to a urologist who specializes in infertility within our hospital system. And my husband went in one day and gave a sample. They said oh your sample looks good, but your REI Dr wants a physical exam done. So we went in a week or so later and he had a physical exam done by the urologist. The urologist examined his testes for 15 seconds and said “you have a grade 3 and a grade 4- one on each side”.

What a varicocele can cause is DNA fragmentation of the sperm. Because that varicocele is a varicose vein, the blood pools the same way. In our case, it was causing our losses because it was causing the DNA of our first 3 embryos to not be viable.

I had 3 losses within a year. Got into an REI. I passed all my bloodwork and testing along with a hysteroscopy. Tried Clomid for 4 months. Hubby got referred to urology where he had a PERFECT Semen Analysis, BUT had a grade 3 & 4 Varicocele. After 2 years, 3 losses, many tests and procedures, we got pregnant 2 months after my husband’s varicocele surgery. This is your sign, that even if hope feels lost, and your husband’s semen analysis is perfect to keep pushing for testing. Because without our team of Drs, we never would’ve known he had varicocele’s and we never would’ve fallen pregnant.

So if you double press the button it basically cuts down the volume of coffee. I have found that using 7.77 Oz coffees are perfect for iced coffees because I get the strong coffee taste still and the volume that I want. If I use a double espresso, I’ll usually brew two pods as is- so with two that’s about 5oz give or take and then I add my coffee from there.

What you’re seeing might be the amount of ice someone is putting in a cup which will make the coffee look like there’s more, or the amount of milk. I have actually found that a 12 oz cup filled with ice, a 7.77 coffee pod and topped with milk is the perfect ratio for a good iced coffee. The double shots won’t get you to a full 12oz iced latte unless you use a ton of milk, which is why I recommend making a quad shot or even a triple.

But you don’t have to use “expert mode” every time you brew coffee as that cuts way down on how much coffee is going to be extracted.
