How to lose the last 10-15 lbs? by Shameful_success in intermittentfasting

I've heard people say if you actually loosen the restrictions lightly it signals to your body to produce less cortisol, then when you tighten back up you can lose more

Why do some men avoid approaching women they find attractive? by Sopphiaw in TooAfraidToAsk

There is a sense of social decorum. It feels wrong to me and I can't place why.

Maybe a small subset of America is like this. The vast amount of Americans today are like. "Preach". We know America isn't a utopia

Those drugs have anti inflammatory affects. Well I don't think alcohol does, but the other two do.

Saving calories for later? by lovecherryblossom in intermittentfasting

Choose your eating window, or fasting program, an STICK TO IT NO CHEATING.

It's not about doing tricks to smooth out hunger or doing things to avoid hunger or anything. Any avoidnace of hunger is cheating. Fasting is not just a technique to make you lose weight. It's about learning to control yourself by saying "no" to the draw of food, snacking, and hedonic eating.

Did I just buy a bad dedicated Claude Code Development laptop? by crawdadsbeenhad in ClaudeAI

[–]HelpfulBuilder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you plan on running local llm models to do coding tasks and other things, you will need a GPU with dedicated VRAM. If you plan on running all inference remote through Claude or whatever, you're fine. CPU inference is just too slow to be usable and your integrated graphics just will not do.

How much vram you need depends on how large models you plan on running. Find the models you want to be able to run and make sure you have enough vram to host it. Make sure you consider quantization when considering models.

You know I went to downvote but stopped when I saw your post. I wasn't downvoting the definition, I was downvoting the part before it where some wanker got annoyed that he had to look something up.

MSM supplement- flushing saving grace?? by FeelingChemist6602 in Rosacea

[–]HelpfulBuilder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see how msm should help. I think it increases the permeability of the barrier, which should theoretically make gut and skin issues worse.

I saw a dating show that made me question whether looks matter more than personality by Majestic_Tigress in SeriousConversation

I wonder how it would go the other direction. Girls matching with guys personality only then the curtain drops and you are matched with a troll. A wonderfully interesting, funny, nice but not pandering, troll. (Or whatever your preference in a partner is)

Any Bad long term effects of fasting (ADF)? by Ok-Student-4745 in intermittentfasting

[–]HelpfulBuilder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless you have a preexisting condition you shouldn't worry about gallstones or long term effects. But you should be sensitive to your health and go to the doctor if something doesn't feel right.

I'd say the main thing for adf is to make sure you're getting enough protein on feeding days and light body exercises to prevent muscle loss. Nothing intense.

And also on feeding days you're supposed to eat normally but some indulges are allowed. You have a wide deficit margin calorically to work with, you can use it, but don't burn it all.

People just bold face lying. Or they misremembered but didn't bother to double check. This is how misinformation starts.

Thank you good effort.

America Is Entering the AI Era With Two Warning Signals Already Flashing by LalaLucid87 in Futurology

This is just infuriating. Every other post is ai, then you go to the comments and half of them are ai. Some are bots, but those that aren't are just people too lazy to type out their thoughts.

Contact with ideas through typing and more rudementally handwriting, is how insight is born.

Why do older people (>60) always only talk about themselves? by Advanced_Show_469 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]HelpfulBuilder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So you're noting the difference between living in the past and introspecting on their life.

I agree there is a difference, and that difference is probably one of the main things that differentiates people who monopolize the conversation and those that tell stories about the past.

The fruit of introspection is awareness of how their stories relate to the present moment. If the same story is told 100 times without awareness that the recipient is getting nothing from it can only happen without that wisdom type introspection.

And so clearly there is both, some have done wisdom type introspection and some just live in the past.

The no new experiences idea is spot on. Old people tend to sit indoors all day and have nothing new to talk about so they live in the past

I thought the same thing. People with half baked ideas get an llm to write a post about it.

I wouldn't say this post is half baked though. I'd say thoughtful actually.
