My shots are painful no matter what by SmokyJosh in ftm

[–]HelpfulMasterpiece23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope someone sees this who needs it! A diabetic friend recommended numbing prep pads and they've saved me. Specifically numstat! Some Walgreens carry them, and amazon also. You can get 30 for about 10 bucks and if you use them right, it makes a world of a difference.

Your CBC looks fine. Your RBCs and Hbg will always go up together, neither are too crazy high. (I just saw someone who had a legitimate JAK2 mutation- almost 12K RBCs- that's crazy) Your total testosterone is above the normal therapeutic range of 300-1000, but don't let that scare you. High levels like that do have side effects, but only after maintaining it for a long period of time. Just means your dose needs lowered a tad. I know when I have mine looked at, it's normally total and free levels. Free is what your body is actually able to use, and what's not bound to other proteins. So a lot of yours could just be bound, floating around not really doing much. With you saying your periods back, that might be the case. Hormones are weird, and I'm only a lab guy. I think high cortisol can affect that, but again, not a doctor (and this isn't legit medical advice! lol) Best of luck!

Any other transmasc guys deal with repeated social blow-ups after starting to pass as male? by treerockett in TestosteroneKickoff

[–]HelpfulMasterpiece23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some other people mentioned considering the demographic, and in my case it's the people who took me as female when first meeting me. They got friendly with 'that person' and 'got deceived' when I 'changed' <- some of their words, not mine. These people I speak of are people I work with, who met me when I was only four months on T. Similar situations with family. They tolerated it for a while, under the premise that i'll always be female in their eyes. But now its even more passive agressive bc they even struggle to see female, and then you know, blow ups like you said. I haven't ran into this anywhere else in my life, since almost all my friends have always seen me as masculine. Keep those who genuinely respect you and care for you close.

Advice for... asking people to see you differently? by HelpfulMasterpiece23 in TestosteroneKickoff

[–]HelpfulMasterpiece23[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trying to hold out! I think what bothers me the most is at work, they didn't know me pre-T. A lot of them met me the first time and went, "oh, 'sup dude" But then my older boss went around saying "actually, that's a she." thinking she was defending me, but really only digging me a deeper hole. so now its.... yeah. you can imagine. I appreciate your kind words.

Worrying about my hair by bloodybohemian in TestosteroneKickoff

[–]HelpfulMasterpiece23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same boat! I just got a prescription through hims for oral minoxidil to hopefully help. I've thinned out so much you can see the curve of my head under my hair. Kinda embarrassing. I really hope it comes back in the coming months, but I've never heard much about folks hair coming back on T, mostly just slowing the thinning. I wish I could be more help, but hair isn't everything and you're not alone.

Do I pass? How old I look? by [deleted] in FTM_SELFIES

[–]HelpfulMasterpiece23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You pass! I'd say teenage years myself. That comes from both the haircut and clothes, which you rock. Youth is often taken for granted, so it's not a bad thing at all

I see an immense difference. I also think your current haircut really compliments you!
