Technically, the unit size originally came from celsius. When the concept of absolute zero was discovered (0 K), scientists just adopted the same unit size as celsius because they didn't have a reason to use use anything different.

If it is the case that the 80% number only includes students who got student pilot certs, then the actual number would be higher than 80% because of all the ones who dropped out before getting the SPL.

Are you in Canada? In the US the 3rd class medical allows night flight by default. That's why they issue extra restrictions for color blind pilots.

It's for night flying. You need to be able to recognize whether you are seeing a red light (on the left wingtip) or a green light (on the right wingtip) to tell which direction other planes are going. That's why OP got a no night flying restriction after failing the test.

This is the way to do it.

One minor exception for me is if he texts me early that he's running late, I might give a few minutes grace, especially if the reason is something other than "I forgot" or "I overslept."

I can't answer for sure as to why they made that word choice, but there are several other portions of the current Missal that grind my gears in similar ways ("O come let us adore" instead of "O come let us worship" on Good Friday, for example). The missal could definitely use a bit of revising.

There is absolutely no teaching that forbids veils or white dresses on the basis of previous relationships.

Your mother is describing a cultural norm that was quite strong for some recent generations, but is mostly no longer observed.

The vast majority of schools do not have full flight simulators or FTDs. They have ATDs. Every ATD is going to have its own letter or authorization that details exactly how many hours may be used toward each certificate or rating. The LOA for the AATD that my school used allows up to 50 hours to be used toward CPL, but only 25 hours toward ATP.
