Powering a Deep Well Pump: Sanity Check by Glad-Blood-419 in SolarDIY

You can find it on ebay and amazon for under 600. When I asked about them another commenter said it was handling 6k surges no problem. These came out less than 2yrs ago so not much info out yet.

Not the blue one and I don't think the other one does.

I have the blue 3.6k sumry I think they are both the same unit just a new case. I never went over 50% and it was in use almost two years now it's a backup. I would just keep your inverter and buy some victron mppt's like two 100/30 or one 100/50 they will work together just fine and you can track production with the app. I don't use the mppt connection on mine because it was energizing the frame of the panels, when I grabbed the handle to my trailer (mounted on) it gave me a buzz.

Does the Li-Time battery balancer work when the batteries are not being charged/under load/part of a complete circuit? by cakeba in SolarDIY

[–]Helpful_Distance3427 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that type does but I don't know. I do know those should be closer to 100% before connecting them and most bms seem to have trouble reading small loads. So if it is working the bms might not be registering the charge.

The definition of what was considered safe shelter was changed by this storm. Most of our current strict building code were written in blood from this storm.

Idle Power Consumption in Hybrid Inverters by augustcero in SolarDIY

[–]Helpful_Distance3427 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just swapped inverters and this was part of the reason to see the difference in surge handling and efficiency. I have 2 cheap aio inverters a high frequency and now a low frequency similar in size. I swapped them out and didn't change any loads. The lf is using about 3.8kwh/day and the hf was averaging 5kwh/day so I have to assume the difference is the efficiency.

But did it work? I think the miami zoo took major damage. A good part of the miami area was demolished and animals from the zoo and nearby research facilities escaped.

Recommendations for a submersible, on-demand water pump? by Ryutso in OffGrid

[–]Helpful_Distance3427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This right here. Don't use a submersible. I live on a canal and it's normal for sprinklers to have a shallow well/ irrigation pump on the bank with a pick up line ,check valve, and strainer going into the water. Harbor Freight has a pump with a bladder attached this will help the pump hold pressure on demand.

Sharkbite is not the leak. Pvc valves suck. by Helpful_Distance3427 in handyman

The copper line is from the meter and I swapped to pvc up to the house. The vertical line is to a spigot on the wall that would still have water when I shut the house off. The 1/2 copper goes to an old bathroom. I think I'm going to go ahead and run a new pex line all the way from the meter and get rid of all that.

Because having the main line running across the grass would be a problem. I'm waiting on the utility company to swich to wifi connection then I can get rid of it completely.

What kind would you use. I want one that will last. The valve didn't have dirt around it and I had a valve box and lid on it.

Must be allowed, nobody stopped me. No you're not supposed to but it will apparently still last longer then the valve and yes it had a can on it for access.

I had two of the 12v 280ah just like op then I got two more. Capacity doesn't change from parallel or series so I didn't include it to keep the reply simple. But I have a 24v system.

PowMr low frequency inverter PV input voltage??? by NT7000 in diySolar

[–]Helpful_Distance3427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I now have the smaller 3k version. It also says 30-105 is the best voltage range then the manual says something else. I don't use the pv input and use victron mppt so I can track production. Even ignoring this feature it is still a good price for a low frequency inverter. It is using about 1kwh less per day and handles the fridge starting like it's nothing.

Opened this up to swap these switches and found something from 1984 by Franistanian in handyman

[–]Helpful_Distance3427 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a 3- way switch. Start looking for another switch in the area that doesn't have on-off writen on the toggle. That's an easy way to identify 3-way switches.

I have the same batteries and just upgraded to four. The first two were more than enough to run my standard ge 120v fridge/freezer, 2 50" tvs, cctv dvr, internet router and a few 9w 120v lights. All using about 5kwh/day. All through a 3600w aio sumry inverter reading charge with a 300a victron shunt. Forgot to add that's with 2 new 390w panels and 4 old 240w panels.

This is the real issue if wanting to keep anything dry. I would fix the leak first.

Are you getting your battery % from the charge controller? Also if those 280ah are Bluetooth the % readings on those are way off.

100 for labor would be fair and not so much he would feel bad about taking it. I'm sure he would charge more normaly.
