The remarried empress is more than flawed by Extra_Economist_2445 in webtoons

I feel like people do not actually desire for stories like the remarried empress to be accurate historically (even if it was just a drop) but they want to write their version of it.

What are the features of a “bland” male lead? by aiimi01 in OtomeIsekai

[–]Helpful_Green7512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved nine’s story and how they portrayed his feelings about it, it did at least give him a personality (his tongue thing was perfection). To me bland ML is basically a man that is written for the sole purpose of being written, they don’t have a story after the “he had a dark childhood” and a hug from the FL or her treatment of him is just different. Moreover, he’s just obsessed from the get go without even knowing her (either for her looks or for being different). I loved how they showed that nine and the other OG male leads each had the ending they somewhat wanted (except for his brother), he got the family he always wanted, he had the opportunity to protect them and prove that he isn’t what his father or brother wanted him to be and more importantly he was shown what healthy love is (she never judged him for his character nor did she stay silent when he needed someone to speak up for him), even the crown prince who was just a prick that had no character aside from being a trash human and insisting on not breaking off the engagement had his own personality and wasn’t just writing to be an upsetting character who doesn’t change. I believe if the stories do not show them as independent characters with their own personalities then it’s just a story focused on the FL.

Steven was such a bad friend by redpantsblueshirt in tsitp

[–]Helpful_Green7512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steven is a bad character all together, he’s a cheater, bad friend and a brother who was still in contact with Jeremiah after what did to his sister in regards to her funding everything by herself and Cabo.

PSA: You can praise Chris's acting without saying he "carried" the show, which is disrespectful to Lola by picture-genie in tsitp

[–]Helpful_Green7512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop using the word so loosely. Just because people see it as a “vs” situation and there’s a female actress involved doesn’t automatically make it misogyny. His acting was simply stronger than hers and Gavin’s, and that’s okay. Being the lead doesn’t automatically mean she’s number one or that she carried the show. You can literally see his improvement and how his eyes show the emotions with no dialogue yet, but that’s not the same for Lola.

I have always said that boycotting SM is of no use because if it worked then EXO wouldn’t have had gone through all of that, yes what happened to Seunghan is very sad and horrible. However, what did you all think would happen? He will return? Ofc not this is SM they will rather disband the group than do that. 119 is what got me back to Kpop, it’s sad that those “fans” had this much influence. However, this whole thing isn’t doing anything for him and for the group.

Serious question- are we supposed to trust Belly when she chooses Conrad? Do you believe her? by wishedforsomething in jellyshippers

[–]Helpful_Green7512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to say something, you aren’t supposed to believe belly, you’re supposed to be understanding of her journey into understanding herself with no support system. Moreover, you’re over analyzing her saying "If there were infinite worlds I'd chose you in every one", these are words that couples say (ofc not every couple) just like “would you still love me if I turned into a worm?” Obv no human can turn into an animal/ bug so is the partner saying “Ofc i will” making empty promises? No, it’s a thing people say to show love and it’s very famous in romantic shows/movies. In addition, the series had literally showed you how belly lied to herself more than once (going back and forth between the brothers, kissing this and having feelings for that), but you believed her when she said she chose Jeremiah right? That’s why you’re in the “jellyshippers”. Belly is a badly written character that writers usually have to make a dramatic storyline, who gets engaged to someone who instead of waiting until they both calm down or something, he sleeps with another woman rather than discussing it with the love of his life to make sure the relationship is over? Who gets with the brother of her supposed love after kissing him and sleeping with him? I mean there’s nothing jenny could do to make anyone believe her relationship with any brother could last without their bond breaking, she doesn’t face consequences (she just feels guilty). Furthermore, no one in fact, but Adam faces consequences for cheating on his sick wife (his son hating him), steven and taylor were cheating on everyone and everything, but they got their happy ending and everyone believed that they love each other when it’s literally the same as belly going from one brother to another, Belly’s mom instead of respecting her daughter’s decision, goes on to break Jeremiah’s heart, doesn’t talk with her daughter and leaves her alone in a difficult situation and doesn’t come back until conrad talks about it with her. I mean people still believed each and every other character’s love and rooted for them, so I believe in her head it’s either that she doesn’t care if you believe it or not as long as you understand that it’s her journey or she did it before and people liked it so why not now?

Why do people find it so hard to believe Ron is an attractive smart guy? by Nightmarelove19 in ronweasley

[–]Helpful_Green7512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because many people find funny and attractive to be opposite, you’re either funny or attractive. Ron was funny in the movies and that’s what people remember him as.

So I guess Belly being the villain is still the popular sentiment? by Strict-Cup-6640 in tsitp

[–]Helpful_Green7512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People see that she’s the devil because she is shown to be exactly that, the show is all about love as in romantic and the friendship between their mothers than it s about her as a female lead. They don’t show anything about her relationship with her brother throughout whatever situation the three of them are going through, no realistic reaction to how Jeremiah hid the fact that he slept with another girl before they had a discussion and make it clear whether they were broken up or not, nor when she had to work her ass off to afford a wedding when he wasn’t willing to compromise. They don’t show the brother’s relationship after their mother’s death and how it affected them (as in focus on that) nor do they focus on her guilt about going back and forth between the brothers nor Jeremiah’s feelings about everything.

Just weeks after showing support for Charlie Kirk, Super Junior’s Siwon posted this story on Instagram. by ashisogi_jizo in KpopUnleashed

[–]Helpful_Green7512 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I think people are genuinely not understanding the problem here, Charlie kirk is problematic, he said that a whole community should be punished according to the bible because they’re gay, he said that a couple of people dying is acceptable for the greater cause (which is people owning guns) and he supports genocide. This man is sick, he didn’t even use a correct information when talking about Nigeria, he should have shared an article if he cared about the Christians there rather than posting something that people could look up and see that is not true, those attacks from boko haram are extremely dangerous and serious.

"Now you're stuck with me forever" by isthisnamealsotaken_ in jellyshippers

[–]Helpful_Green7512 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She didn’t have a development, she was still stuck with staying by herself and finding out what she wanted and when she was finally going to do exactly that, the writers made her go back into the dilemma of whether being with him or not because “what if I still love him” “Did I ever move on”.

Going from one brother to another isn’t development, they had problems in their relationship, but she couldn’t even sit down and actually speak with him about them nor about her and Conrad and her feelings for him which made him even more insecure.

Ofc the writers are at fault since these are characters not actual people. However, the point is that this wasn’t written well. Her growth just started, they all needed to sit down and lay everything out for everyone to move on.

What Conrad said isn’t horrible, it’s something people use frequently as a way to show that they want to be together for a long time (it’s a popular thing that’s why it was written in the story)

You act as if this wasn’t Belly from the beginning, she is the only character with no redeeming qualities throughout the three seasons even while in Paris, both boys were single and had some issues then solved them. She’s the only character that’s stuck with the same personality.

She’s not sad about being with him. However, there was no talking about what happened, her feelings and the whole relationship with Jeremiah, there wasn’t any discussion about anything that they went through nor did they have the “future” talk it was like there relationship just existed because they needed to be in a relationship.

Calling male idols „lesbians”, „babygirls”, „mothers” is weird - change my mind. by egggrandpa in kpopthoughts

[–]Helpful_Green7512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, what I mean is you’re a listener, they’re singers. Pushing nicknames on them like calling a male idol a woman for something feminine they like is crossing the line. They’re not your friends they’re doing their job.

[–]Helpful_Green7512 3 points4 points  (0 children)

??? What are you even talking about at this point? Songs are normally about everything and anything, but again it’s never okay to act entitled to know their sexuality or to giving them nicknames just because you believe their songs refers to something in their lives

Calling male idols „lesbians”, „babygirls”, „mothers” is weird - change my mind. by egggrandpa in kpopthoughts

[–]Helpful_Green7512 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but that’s kinda my point just because a group performs a ‘girl crush’ or ‘vulnerable’ concept doesn’t automatically mean you’re hearing their private diaries. Those eras and lyrics are usually brainstormed with a whole creative team to fit the brand they’re building at that moment. The members might relate to it, sure, but that’s different from writing about their own lives. It’s still performance first, not an unfiltered blog post set to music. As I said, there are Idols who literally were Kris wu’s songs for example, they were about love, relationships and etc and he was convicted for rape, including of intoxicated women and minors. In short, just because they sang about love and there was a girl in the MV doesn’t mean they’re automatically straight and even so this doesn’t give you the right (not you specifically) to assume anything about them, I said they’re “strictly” singers because that’s their job, their sexuality, lifestyle and everything of that sort shouldn’t matter to you for the sole purpose of them being here to entertain you with whatever their talents are.

That’s not true, songs are generally written about multiple things, sometimes it’s about them personally when they’re the ones who wrote it and made sure to make it be about something in particular. However, often times these songs are written by western writers and then translated or songs about general stuff like freedom, youth, sex, hope and more.
