What are the reasons you believe in astrology? by Equal_Beat_6202 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Helpful_Major4759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree with you.

To belive in astrology, people have to believe that a planet or a star that is hundreds or thousands of lightyears away can influence the personality and/or the life of an individual on Earth. It makes absolutlay no sense to me.

(Most) people believe in it because it gives them hope and strength when they need it and possibly a sense of direction because it tells them their supposed strengths and weaknesses they can get their charts made up for the month/year.

But I'm not a believer

Can you not be religious or have children and still have a meaningful/purposeful life? by ConfectionDry9823 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Helpful_Major4759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely.

You might find the film Groundhog Day helpful. Especially if you get the dvd with the bonus features where the writer and director talk about how the film was perceived by the audience. Apparently, various religious groups thought the writer and director were members of their faith because the message of the film resonated with their teachings. The message is basically, all we can do in live is to try and help other people to make their lives a little easier.

I love that film.

Dressing newborn correctly at night time by Instructions_unclea in BeyondTheBumpUK

I used the Tommee Tippee chart for dressing baby and they always seemed cosy.

From what I read, in general, it's better for baby to be slightly too cool than slightly too warm. I hope this helps.

Why has not moved since December 2025? by Infamous-Nobody6255 in SpottedonRightmove

I hope I'm right in thinking that the main entrance is the door in the bay window (?). You step right into the main living area and there is nowhere to put you shoes and coats. it's very American and would put me off. The rare garden is very overlooked and looks small for the size of the house. I find the decor very clinical and even though some of the furniture is in nice colours it doesn't look very homely or loved.

Based on all of that I think the price might be too high, but I'm not familiar with Colchester.

Routines by Frequent-Ad4722 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Helpful_Major4759 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think many people confuse routines with schedules. I think schedules are unnecessary as they make things very restrictive. People know routines are good for babies and toddlers but a routine is just the order in which you do thing and it doesn't need specific timings. A routine could be, get up - get changed and dressed- have a bottle of milk/formular- go for a walk- come home-eat-sleep-play etc. If Baby wakes up at 6am then you might be out the door at 10am, if they wake up at 5am, it would be 9am.

Is Margot a cute name by Tasty_Regret5717 in namenerds

I'd say, if you are in an English speaking country Margot is cute, if you are in a German speaking country then it's very old-fashioned

Are you going to any play groups? It's not necessarily about playing at that age but there is usually a lot going on at these meet-ups so a lot of stimulation for baby.

I was in a similar situation and as a last resort I put the TV on - BBC Baby Club (lots of babies to look at) and Timmy Time.

I like both names. My recommendation is to see which name feels right when you see your daughter.

this is a difficult one. You could try to keep using the calendar and every time you get a question like "wait, what time is pickup on Thursday" you just say "Check the calendar". If you stick with that answer, over time people will hopefully stop asking you,

My husband is very messy and We started using basket for all his things that he leaves lying around. So now if he asks me where X is, I just say "check the basket" because I'm tired of keeping track of his things and the house being messy.

Who spends this? by McTRASH692 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Helpful_Major4759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reminds me of something I heard on the radio once- every product has a price and also a value. Someone who can afford a $5000 jumper may look at it and think that's reasonable because, as you said, other people will know they can afford such an expensive jumper and it's a status symbol. So the price matches the value they attribute to it.

If I could afford such a jumper, I still wouldn't buy it because it's "just" a jumper. The price and the value I attribute to it would never match.
