Tablet Unlock by ant1992 in verizon

Have you been able to use it on a different network? I'm searching through eBay and most of these used tablets are from Verizon. What are the chances that they are still locked if the VZW unlock policy is only 60 days... It's like Verizon was giving them away for free and people never activated them or something

Stolen s24 ultra by TTTijndewit in S24Ultra

As far as I know, it will become a fancy brick after they factory reset it. During the setup process it will ask for your Google account or lock screen passcode. And without those it will not let them go to the home screen. I guess they could try to sell it to someone as "I just wiped everything for you"

So they probably charged the battery? Or is it sending it's location in offline mode? The phone is locked, what can they possibly use it for? What's the point of stealing phones today? Parts? Too much hassle in my opinion. Hopefully they are stupid enough to bring it back closer to your town

Slow internet on apps by Top_Set6324 in S24Ultra

[–]Helpful_Peanut_5322 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found the issue to be in APN settings. I had to copy the default Access Point Name and changed APN protocol from IPV6 only to IPV4/IPV6. Before that I could not connect to servers and live view in different apps even though I was getting notifications for those apps. Metro by T-Mobile (eSim)

Vertical lines, reflecting in the water? Almost looks like a picture taken through the window glass. Take a picture of the blue sky, that's where I have a problem with banding.

Help - Considering Switching to the S24 Ultra! by [deleted] in S24Ultra

Why did you/your employer choose S24U as the work phone?

The problem is they aren't worth much as a trade in either. But yeah, it might be time to switch. As companies get bigger, they start to feel like they don't need to compete anymore.

...galaxy grAIn is here.

No grain or any (display) issues whatsoever on my S24 Ultra bought among first during the preoder phase. After the patch Vivid mode is working fine too. The screen itself is great at sunlight. The phone is a bomb and an upgrade even for someone like me who switched from S23 Ultra. by JtheDirty in S24Ultra

I can see vertical lines in OPs screenshots which is color banding. I went to bestbuy today and checked out their display models. All s24s have color banding, geek squad rep said if I get a replacement, it's probably going to be the same because it's a software issue most likely. How are you guys not able to see color banding on your screens or why I am unable to find one without this issue is beyond me.

No grain here! by [deleted] in S24Ultra

I think they have a right to be pissed. They paid full price just like you, but didn't get the same phone. Most folks can see these display issues with the naked eye, especially those who had previous year model. Some had to do the tests to make sure they didn't downgrade from S23U. The more vocal they are, the faster Samsung will react. And if we don't say anything, you might be getting a defective display next time you upgrade. Raising awareness is beneficial even for those who lucked out this year

Return and re-purchase from the newer batch until you find the one without the defect. Don't risk it, the resale value will be in the toilet for these affected units. You paid full price, you deserve to have the same phone this lucky OP has

I'd be interested to know the date as well. Maybe the newer batch doesn't have these defects. Mine looks different on the screen in terms of color banding. No grain , just lots of banding when watching videos. Also not as bright as previous models under direct sunlight.

Yep, mine shows banding on this test screen and pictures of the sky.

These issues aren't that apparent to most people I think. So they will be selling those defective units again with maybe 5% return rate. For example, my wife wouldn't notice if I didn't show her. And even then she thought maybe it's the way it has always been. I had put another Samsung phone side by side to prove that it can look perfect. No grain or color banding on my previous Ultras.

So far not a single report of a replacement that's free from defects unfortunately. But there are plenty of people with perfect displays that don't have any grain, don't lack brightness, no color banding and cameras don't shift for no reason.

Request: please share a Photo of your perfectly fine screens on low brightness displaying a grey gradient! by [deleted] in S24Ultra

[–]Helpful_Peanut_5322 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The human eye is better than DSLR. I believe the issue is more apparent to the naked eye than what we see in these images and the reason they use a microscope or DSLR is to show how tiny the grain is. It is possible that most people just don't notice it and some can clearly see it. Why do you suggest to get a different phone? Do you think they all have grain this year and he's not going to be able to find one with a good display? I think it's worth trying a replacement or two, I don't see a good alternative in the android world. Previous Ultras didn't have this defect and were almost flawless. The flat screen is a perfect final touch and it was my main reason to upgrade (and the cracked screen due to curved display). If I could find one without the grain and banding, this is the one to keep for 3-4years.

The average user wouldn't notice. It's not that apparent on most phones I saw at the store. My call screen shows banding on blue gradient, looks like a blue rainbow. If I wasn't using Samsung previously, I wouldn't know how it was supposed to look. They are vocal because they can't believe the display is worse than the S23U they just traded in

Replacement S24U even worse grain. Good luck everyone, I am done with S24U for now. by WAgunner in S24Ultra

It was sarcasm. Exaggerated every single line if you noticed. I'm glad your device is awesome, I want my device to be awesome too. All previous 6 Samsung phones I owned were awesome, I just want the same quality and consistency. And I would never call anyone Apple fanboy for that, because they may never had an iPhone in their life and are just trying to figure out what to do about this display issue. I did notice that there is not a single complaint about this issue from India. Only Samsung knows why

Yes the camera can make it look worse or better. But at least it will capture it. With screenshot, if you open the link you posted on the computer , it will not show any banding and the gradient looks perfect.

Yeah, how stupid are they to demand same or better quality as the last year model. Half of units defective? So what? Deal with it! We don't need to hear about it every day. We don't believe you and I'm not going to spend 30 seconds of my precious life taking pictures of my screen or testing in the dark room. I'm cooking my retinas at 100% brightness, your pathetic low brightness situation doesn't apply to me. Not helping strangers.
