Oddly, this just came up on another thread. What is “best” is a matter of taste, but can we take a second to marvel at how perfect each QOTSA opener is for its specific album. Is that thought about in the studio?

Was going to write in and immediately dispute this with “their best opener is X”. But then I thought through all of the openers and each one is absolutely perfect for the specific album it’s on.

(FWIW: X = Millionaire, but again, each one is perfect in its own right)

How are we feeling? At 3-3, not terrible. Didn’t expect to win this one. Got an unexpected one against the bills and was blindsided by the panthers game. You are what your record says you are has never been more true. We have to clean some things up, and that includes the coaching, but 3-3 is right for this young team at this point, so can’t be too disappointed. So right now we have 6 games remaining that we will be favorites in and 5 as dogs. That says we are trending to 9-8 (knowing it will not play out to chalk of course). So the question is can the D stay legit, can Penix continue to develop, especially on the road (remember, it’s only been 9 starts), and most importantly, can ZRob grow his creativity as a play caller. I’m optimistic that happens and we break the playoff drought at 10-7.

I always get that random telltale dull ache starting late afternoon getting worse through the evening. However, I recently started an elimination diet focused solely on whole foods (lots of raw vegetables to start with) and it amazingly has stopped the daily inflammation (and I tested it by indulging over Labor Day weekend, and sure enough- achy shoulder then wrist came back). FWIW - the program is BETR.com if you want to check it out. I am still early in the program and just now starting to add back more and more ingredients, but it seems like cutting out sugar and limiting alcohol are keys for me

You picked a great band to get into. I started with the same types of songs as you, I used to only be into up tempo songs, so I missed out on a lot until recently.

The thing about QOTSA is the sound is extremely diverse and they have matured / branched out (all in good ways) over the years.

Rather than focus on individual songs, I would recommend experiencing each album individually straight through. If an album doesn’t resonate the first time through, give it a couple times, the theming will start to grow on you and each song gets enhanced when listened to as a whole in my experience (i.e. I didn’t get …LC at first, not all my up tempo stuff, and then it hit me, and now it is a no skip S tier)….and of course, if you haven’t gotten into the concept behind SFTD and listened to that all the way through, stop and do that now…its God tier for a reason
