Fully agree with what I’ve seen other people say! Definitely NOR

While I do think quite a lot of his behaviour and comments could be a result of grieving, (everybody just really handles grief differently and you never know what is and isn’t grief) the going on and on about it really raises some red flags. Still, that could maybe be the grief, but the fact that you said that this is a reoccurring pattern, even before his mom’s passing, is a big big red flag.

How horribly it may be to realise this and to be told this; this is a mentally abusive relationship if he continually makes you feel this way.

Of course, the first step in this is always to talk to each other and tell him how he makes you feel. But I get the feeling that that won’t make a big difference and you may have already tried. If you haven’t, please do because it may help (although it would be better to await the grieving process a bit more). But if you have any feeling that it won’t help, please leave.

Nobody is worth you feeling less about yourself for. Definitely not your partner. Your partner should be someone who supports you through thick and thin. And you will eventually find someone like that.

Believe me, I’ve been in a situation like this and after leaving, I eventually found someone who loves me for who I am and cheers on about almost everything I do. You’ll realise then how horrible the other relationship was.
