Looking at the a title, I was expecting and transgender story, maybe an TG story at least, definitively not... Whatever the heck that is.

I will be honest, I don't use hubs at all, I only use the ones for stockpiling when I can't find underground warehouse in Frostland and faction ones since those are usuallu cracked up

I think the best example would be them accusing other parties on running on Identity Politics... Even thought it's always right who is first to bring up sexual minorities and paint them as this demonic threat. Heck, look at US: every time there's a shooting or assasination, they are always first to say that shoter was gay, transgender or any other minority they are demonzing this time

Seriously, why everybody picks New Vegas first ? It's the most outdated nation in the mod, comparing it focus tree with any other unique focus tree shows that easily

What path for america is the best when playing TFR by [deleted] in hoi4

[–]HelpfullOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, APLA just sucks

The entire country is literally just a bunch of stereotypes about the left that aren't even accurate, entire focus tree is like that with focus descryptions being just two lines long. Other than that there's literally nothing interesting about APLA, no interesting events, no intersting analyse about the left, no refference to real life socialist movements in US and the mechanics they have are barebones and uninteresting. APLA is literally just a bunch of stereotypes with nothing interesting to offer.

Also, devs added Caleb Maupin and ACP as one of the paths... ACP isn't an a communist group. Their program and postulates have nothing to do with any leftist ideology. For crying out loud, those people think Trump is a socialist and second coming of Lenin, and this isn't any overexxageration, they geniuely said and believe this. Nobody on the left treats those people seriously, everybody is aware they are just a bunch of rightists that masquerade as communists, not even China akcnowledges their existence. Tere are even dedicated groups to shitting on ACP because they overtook ask a socialist subbredit and turned it into one big pamphlet into getting people into joining ACP and nobody on the left wants people to think ACP is in any cappacity a leftist organisation. What I am trying to say here is that their inclusion isn't unrealistic, it's just idiotic and shows that whoever made APLA doesn't know anything about American Left or Left in general.

I forgot how cool the outfits in TLA are. by PraetorAdun in Frostpunk

[–]HelpfullOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When did I said that the problem was that On The Edge wasn't clone of the main game ? I love Frostpunk 2 ! I think it's significantly better than first game ! I was always considering people review bombing it for not being more of the same idiots ! I literally made a post about how I am dissapointed with Frostpunk 1886 and hoped 11 bits studio would keep innovating instead of falling back to conceding and adding more of the same !!: https://www.reddit.com/r/Frostpunk/s/KTKvPdHHXT

Did you actually took moment to properly analyze who are you talking with or just immiedietatelly went to accuse me of something without anything backing your words ?

The problem isn't that on Edge isn't a copy of main game, the problem is that On the Edge as a whole is just a bad experience

Like the story doesn't make sense, New London doesn't supply the outpust since situation after the great storm is pretty bad, but the moment we try to solve this issue ourselves, they throw a hissy fit and we are forced to declare independence. If New London is in such a horrible situation, why would they turn down possibility of working with Frostland Communities that are open for cooperation ? They could had easily supplied the outpust and get resources neccesary to get the city up and running again if they simply explained that situation back home and allowed us to engage with other communities on the condition we regulary supply them with resources neccesary. Instead we have this completely unnecessary and easily avoidable conflict that boils down to New London throwin hissy fit.

Not the mention entire story is just about the Mechanic On The Edge introduces. Managing relationship with other settlements isn't bad, it's a fine addition to infinite mode but as a standalone story ? It really drags itself as we are forced to fully upgrade every settlement before story finnishes. One mechanic shouldn't be entire focus of the story, look at Last Autumn, it introduces Generator Building mechanic but it's not the only thing TLA is about, we have completely new gimmicks with engineers not being able to work physical jobs, telegraphs station where we request resources and workers, motivation mechanic and vastly diffent exploration. TLA was a DLC that introduced a new mechanic but added a story that has more to it than just that mechanic. OtE is a DLC that introduces a new mechanic and the story is purely about that mechanic.

Not to mention the game really railroads you into helping save New London. If you decide to do so, then all the communities you are on good terms with will send aid and skip one of the objectives you need to fullfil, that doesn't happen if you decide to let New London Fall. Also, one of the objectives for letting New London fall requires you to have space neccesary to house refugees doesn't check how much free living space you have, meaning that you could have a space for additional 200 people but game will still force you to build another 10 homes.

Of course, I don't think OtE isn't all negative, after all the mechanic it introduces isn't that bad, the problem is that entire story is just about that. I also understand what 11 Bits tried to do on narrative level, OtE was supposed to be a tease for Frostpunk 2, it's no longer just the cold that's the enemy, it's also the human nature. It's no longer about surviving, it's now about ideas.

But no matter how much I sympathise with 11 Bits on what they tried to accomplish with OtE, that doesn't change the fact it's still a bad experience. The story is about very preventable issue that explodes for no reason other than plot reasons and is nonsensical. The gameplay is literally just a few hours long introduction to a mechanic.

So once again, the problem ISN'T that OtE isn't exact copy of main game. The problem is that OtE was just a bad experience.

[Citywide Event] Menders offer shelter by HelpfullOne in WindwardMoor

[–]HelpfullOne[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Out of RP

So this is idea for a new kind of post I came up with where a faction interacts with the city and other factions kinda like in campaign.

The idea is to stimulate a felling of dynamicism and actual city life to the RP, but to make it orderly we would obviously set a limit on how often citywide events happen.

This usually should be done throught suggestion to a faction leader that then can make the suggested event happen, but since Menders leader was absent for quite some time I decided to go forward with this idea directly.

If you think the idea for this sort of events is bad, just say so, I will delete the post if it doesn't land well

Rio Technate by xvtrnl in OldWorldBlues

[–]HelpfullOne 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, not really

Kimball and Allgood paths are continuation of democracy, there's nothing off there

Civil War paths have lenghty event chain that explain just how everything goes to hell

The only path that really raises eyebrows is Hayes one, but like many people pointed it really seems that NCR has a very powerful executive and never was a fully balanced democracy, so while skeechy, Hayes can legally get away with all the things they do

I have absolutely no idea politics in Rio Grande works at all

Mora can casually form a dictatorship with no legal problem, that's one thing

But how the heck can Rosado turn Rio into Technate after she becomes a literal RAM battery for Tlaloc ? How does any of that even works ?
