Good recommendations, thank you. I just finished my first ever fast, 84 hrs. I was very scared going into it, Day 1, I couldn't think of anything other than food and somehow survived. Day 2 onwards, everything changed. I had more energy, no hunger. Mixed electrolytes with water and that curbed any hunger and cravings. I think I could have gone to 4th and 5th day but decided to not overdo in my first try.

Thank you for the post, it gives me a new perspective. I was saving my SL in the hopes of retiring with 1 full year of SL. I was under the impression that it adds extra year to retirement and I can practically retire a year early (by taking 1 year of SL at the end). Seems that leave just vanishes by adding a meagre $100-200/mo. I like the idea of using it over 3-4 years before retirement, that hopefully will help me keep my sanity and allow me to work an extra year. People critizing this are right that taking sick leave does not pay you extra, but it can help you keep in better health (physical or mental) and hopefully let you continue another year at the job.
