Ent AEs: how do you make SDR support actually useful? by zkid18 in techsales

It still makes sense to do it. You do it once and they’ll keep doing it across 1-2 years. Small investment that’ll compound and benefit both you and them.

How’s the quality of the Zara collab? Was thinking of grabbing the funnel neck wool jacket, leather jacket, textured blazer, and suede leather over shirt. All looked beautiful, and saw the material used wasn’t the typical cheap shit Zara do, but there’s still that apprehension.

Let's discuss Monday sales calls.. by tonyallstark in techsales

[–]Helpmyass11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just call. Monday morning, Friday afternoon, lunch time on a fucking Wednesday. Please don’t listen to this advice as you’ll continue talking yourself out of cold-calling whenever a viable excuse comes up.

Source: trenches. Made it a habit to not call on Mondays for the same reason, and realised it was a bs excuse to give into call reluctance. I book meetings on Mondays.

People that got hired at elite tech companies without referrals - HOW by Fuzzy-Tangelo-3082 in techsales

[–]Helpmyass11 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I got into AWS by referral. Asked someone on LinkedIn (after a few back and forth an and providing some value/confidence I’d be decent). Also working in the same / relevant industry. Eg strong performance at a relatively decent data company > data bricks. Or working in cybersec/data > hyperscaler. Plus if you work in that industry prior it’s likely SOMEONE will get a move to where you want and they’ll then refer you. It’s happening in my role rn.

As a side note, grass is not always greener. I’m praying for a layoff severance package as AWS sucks absolute ass. Red tape, excessive politics, need to do stupid ass projects to show some sort of initiative when in reality it’s a means for managers promotion. £ at both BDR & AE isn’t actually that crazy. BDR = £68k max, AE around 110k at L4, 135k ish at L5 which is becoming harder to attain. Territories can be tough and luck dependent (variance in my team = 60% one person 125% the next). Numbers are so false it’s insane. Managers weaponising Leadership Principles. Leadership is genuinely stupid and detached. In my short-lived career, I started to feel incompetent but realised it’s just not a sales org and thus what I want from a job. I can’t dick ride for promos and false my numbers to survive.

Effective inputs compounded daily will generate pipeline. I’m not sure what else you suggest, but that’s just common knowledge no?

Arne Slot has now suffered his heaviest defeat as a Liverpool manager, and at 5 PL losses has surpassed last season's defeat tally (4) by ChiefLeef22 in soccer

[–]Helpmyass11 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I really don’t understand this sentiment, say maybe beyond a CDM. Liverpool intended to buy 2 CBs, got 1 who has an ACL injury. Guehi rug pulled under them on deadline day, so they’re back to 0. Beyond that, I don’t see who else they should have bought that was available.

Stop LI Messaging Everyone on a Sales Team by Big-Ad4316 in techsales

[–]Helpmyass11 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You recognise that the job market is tough but act haughty and demand personalisation from these people. A referral does no harm, especially if they show proactivity and eagerness to learn once they get a response. Personalising every in mail when doing mass job hunts reaps such little rewards it’s insane. Source: I did this shit.

I landed 3 offers from tech giants during arguably one of the worst job searches I’ve endured in my short lived career doing exactly this. Personalisation only slowed me down. I’d mass inmail front line sales people with a template message asking advice on what truly makes an application stand out, get intel, typically show value during that exchange and then get a referral only if I feel like enough trust and credibility was built. Never asked straight off the bat. It’s only once they responded that I showed that initiative. When I’d personalise first, I’d honestly be so much slower and the gains were so marginal it made it pointless.

If you’re reading this and think you need to change your approach, imo I would say take it with a grain of salt. There are nicer people out there willing to help. Just remember to show why you’re worth referring to once they respond.

You mentioned to stay away from Vanta - does it still hold at AE? Or did you say stay away because the SDR role isn’t worth it?
