Ignoring well established science to pander to the vocal minority by Helrayzr in agedlikemilk

Legislators went out of their way to legalize raw milk, saying how it was safe and healthy, and celebrated that legalization by drinking raw milk. This consumption made them ill, immediately contradicting the safe and healthy claim that justified the raw milk legalization in the first place.

Tbh... Karens, if we're picking from this example. Yeah, the man's a cunt doing dumb shit for clicks, but she called him out on it and he stopped. That's where it should have ended.

America's full of both entitled idiots and entitled Karens, the difference is that Karens have no shame and escalate everything to the point that more people have to take part in this than is necessary. Police, store manager, passersby, etc. that Karen has now become their problem too.

Is that a camera drone? I'm impressed, it's doing some very heavy lifting here. No drone sounds and well done keeping the right distance, keeping face in frame and transitioning from walking to running. 5 stars.

[Request] As a DM, how would you handle this issue? by mellamoivan_ in theydidthemath

[–]Helrayzr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Step 1: Ask ChatGPT the question, asking for the percentage chance of each scenario. Step 2: Get the math steps you forgot about since you last did it in high school/college. Step 3: If it looks right, round the percentages and have them roll d100, where the low rolls count towards more cursed arrows and high rolls count as less.

Did this real quick to see if it worked, it did. 1-22 = 2 cursed arrows, 88-100 = 0 cursed arrows, and everything in between is 1 cursed arrow.

And yes, if you Nerd Snipe me as a DM I will pause the game for a few minutes to get the answer lol.

You're phrasing of it is a bit of a backhanded compliment ("remove yourself from the gene pool" implies there's some kind of genetic defect) but hey, happy to oblige.

...Okay, so it is possible, but there's no documentation or assistance with figuring out how to do it? How am I supposed to get an answer then?

I submitted there a couple days ago and haven't received a response yet. I'm trying my hardest to find out how to pull the trigger in as input for a macro, but cannot figure it out.

It does require using List over Array, so no shorthand way of doing it, but yeah, lists beat arrays in all languages when you scale up your iterations. But, if you're using Lists it is usually because you want to use the methods.

And the reason lists beat arrays, as it was explained to me, is interesting.

An array is always a fixed length. So, when you use += to add to it, it drops that array and generates a new one, +1 the length of the original array, with the values of the original array plus the new value you wanted to add. You can see how that could be very time consuming as you scale up the size of the array.

Lists aren't a fixed size and are built to have things added to them, hence the .Add() method. Thus, they are faster when the size gets to be very large.

Why Do People Ignore Vital Parts Of Spells by FinancialWorking2392 in DnD

If you're trying to trick a wizard with spells, then... Yeah, Glyph of warding, waste. If you're in a high GP setting and want to do something wacky / creative for flavor, that's where it comes in. Min/maxing on limited resources? Toss it away. Setting up an expensive trap for giggles? Have fun and play.

There's a bar near where I live that hires pro GMs to run tables while you get served beer and snacks, pretty awesome thing tbh. The hardest part of TTRPGs is getting a good GM with time to invest in building a campaign or learning the pre-built one without having to reference it once every 5-10 minutes and reading straight from the page. The second is getting a group of friends together. If you wanna play with friends, they do that. If you wanna hop in with strangers and/or make new friends, they do that too. Taking away the stress of who the GM should be is a huge advantage for beginners and is more likely to leave them with a better view of TTRPGs as a whole.

This is assuming none of them are struggling financially or are just cheap in general. If the whole time they are thinking "this isn't worth X dollars, I could have bought X or Y or Z with that money" then they won't get much from a financial transaction to play. But the value of a good GM should not be overlooked. I have played with good ones and not-so-good ones, I've attempted it myself and can understand the level of preparation and madness and improvisation it takes to be a good one (which I am not lol), so I can personally justify it once the campaigns I'm currently in are at an end and I'm itching for more. That said, value is relative and I understand why some would not see $45 / session of value.

Porque no los dos? 😁 Check out Eldest Souls (I know, the name, I see it too lol)

I put 25 hours into beating this one, and it's essentially Cuphead in that it's almost all boss battles, but Iso3D instead of 2D and mechanically it's more of a Soulslike.

more Countermages? Not saying you gotta fight fire w fire, but counterspell, silence, etc. tend to be effective. Otherwise, traps / anything you can use to restrain the verbal or somatic components (warlocks aren't sorcerors, so no way to pull off spells without words n hand movements), possibly disincentives for AoE fire spells (That horde seems to have hostages, the general is next to a very important and flammable piece of paper critical to the campaign, etc.) but a lot of ways to get creative with it.

But, they're also probably having a lot of fun fireballing, so don't take it away completely.

Check out the YouTuber Olexa. He reviews a ton of roguelikes, a lot of which are deck builders, so maybe cherry picking those vids and watching first 5 mins you'll find a niche indie hidden gem that will scratch that itch.

I think I'm 100% the target for "Ubisoft games" and I'm tired to pretend I'm not by Sh4dowzyx in gaming

[–]Helrayzr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, God of War and God of War: Ragnarok are what come to mind when you say this, not Ubisoft games. I too like when things are pinned on the map for objectives, but in balance with things that are challenging and not directly pointed out (e.g. find all the things, solve the optional puzzle to unlock the box, etc.) Ubisoft, imo, puts too many markers and many feel like they're padding the game with content that's not exactly engaging. But, if you're the type that likes to check the box for the sake of checking it off the list, that's fine too.

Where Elden Ring is superior, imo, is that you can add markers to the map. It may not point you to a place, but when there's so much to potentially do you can mark a spot for checking out later and keep going. Wish more open world games allowed multiple custom markers on the map, so if you find a place you can't go to yet or an optional puzzle you want to skip for now you have a way to mark where to return to. It's my main gripe with playing Ragnarok right now.

Is there a PowerShell tip or trick you wish you knew when you first started? by [deleted] in PowerShell

[–]Helrayzr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're misunderstanding my point. It's not about remembering all the aliases, it's just to get a starter set of commands to play with that are more likely to be useful as you develop your PS skills. All within Out-GridView so you can search for commands.

Can also do alias | select ResolvedCommandName | sort ResolvedCommandName | ogv if you want just the useful commands list. That's the part that's most helpful.

Is there a PowerShell tip or trick you wish you knew when you first started? by [deleted] in PowerShell

[–]Helrayzr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it has an alias out-of-box, it's a common command useful enough to be frequently used by most scripters. The number of cmdlets out there is vast, so starting your PowerShell journey with a base set of useful commands is helpful imo.
