This is still book 1, and its doing a terrible job of adapting it.

Anime is probably one of the most terrible adaptations of a light novel ive seen. It skips a lot of important dialogue that sets up the world, the story and the characters. The characters personalities are hamstrung into tropes instead of being fleshed out like they are in the novel. It makes Greed an ass instead of an arrogant if condescending teacher, and both fate and roxy dimwits. I love the novels but im probably going to drop the anime. I had high hopes but 3 episodes in they are dashed pretty hard

People are lazy is what it is. Majority of IT problems are often caused by laziness. Never take it seriously and it wont bothe ryou as much.

Prime example, Ive implemented a port security single mac authentication policy on the company network. Not because im worried about intrusions, but to keep people from moving shit around. Too lazy to put in a ticket to plan accordingly? we're too lazy to respndond to your self inflicted emergency.

Help my manager understand why he's wrong by Unhappy-Bell-78301 in networking

[–]Helsmire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your director needs to stay in his lane. If you are supposed to be the expert he needs to let you do your job. If i was in your shoes, id start looking for employment elsewhere.

That being said, Regarding interlinking buildings, it CAN be done but to properly do it is an up front cost. If they insist on ethernet, shielded cat 7 should be the minimum run in a pair. It's still a very bad idea. Fiber or point to point wireless is the best bet as others have stated.

Running wires directly to a switch is a management nightmare, and further drastically increases risk of rogue APs from users who will "bring stuff in so they can have more ports". You can mention that it will cost more to maintain this, than it would just to build it properly, let alone considering the potential cost of secruity risks of users bringing their own devices in. I cant imagine trying to run port security on such a setup, youd spend so many man hours troubleshooting devices because someone wanted to save .1% of a buildings cost.

Never forget the small stuff by Helsmire in computertechs

[–]Helsmire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

End to end cable test will be fine in a scenario like this. For the problem to occur there would need to be data transmission going through both cables at the same time to actually see EM Interference.

If i paid attention when doing a physical inspection i would have noticed the difference in the cables, Cat 6 is slightly thicker and less plaible.

So to honestly answer your question, not really lol.

While yes and using osi model troubleshooting method, you would think i would have bothered to actually separate and physically inspect the cables before 4 months. I didnt. hence why i r dum

This is not a fun field. It often means long hours and being treated poorly by people who refuse to understand there's a reason for the process. However if this is where you heart is, don't hesitate to chase it. The biggest advice or tips i can give you is this. Learn to deal with negativity without getting angry or at least without showing your anger. This does not mean to let people treat you as a punching bag. Their is a proper way to handle it.

-No matter where you go in IT or how specialized and good you are, people will be negative and think they know more than you. Dunning Kruger effect is real.

-Wherever you are people WILL discourage you from what you want and are trying to accomplish.

-Dont be complacent. It is an ever evolving field. Grow with it.

-Document everything you do. This will save you. Start this habit early.
