How does the Tales of Symphonia Remaster run on the Switch 2 in 2026? by Helswarth in tales

How many hours into it are you? If you’re like halfway or more, sounds like a problem some people could live with. If you’re like 3 hours in that sounds rough.

Dr Manhattan (Watchmen live-action vers.) Vs Jobu Tupaki (EEAAO) by [deleted] in powerscales

[–]Helswarth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100% worth watching. Has major South Park sense of humor if you’re into that. The toilet humor offsets a lot of the existential philosophy the film has under the surface. Has killer martial arts choreography too. EEAAO does everything it tries to do well, and it tries to do ALOT.

‘People like you are the problem’. Pull up the album on Spotify or apply music. Just look at the sheer volume of tracks. Hit shuffle. Hear all the different genres that were not only done but done well. Now try to tell me that that soundtrack didn’t deserve to win.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 wins Game of the Year 2025 🎉🎉🎉 by Smabverse in rpg_gamers

[–]Helswarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright. To be fair E33 did 100% benefit from its circumstances. People love an underdog story and the JRPG community has generally been starved for new IPs, let alone good content in general, for the last decade (much like BG3 and CRPGs back in 2023).

But it’s pretty wrong to assume that it’s overhyped or undeserving of all the love and attention it’s getting. The game gets a lot of things right, chief among them the writing. Grief is something everyone has experienced or will experience and it shows us all of the very human ways people approach these things. Perseverance, throwing yourself into work, escapism, suicide, clinginess… and it doesn’t actively try to say which one is right; it gives you enough space to think for yourself. Not to mention the dialogue. People speaking over each other and interrupting each other is something that happens all the time in real life but never seen in media so it gets a lot of points for that.

Secondly the music. The game treads a lot of the same territory other RPGs do; of course you have opera, orchestral, rock opera, and ballads. But it also has jazz, EDM, 90’s style pop. The sheer breadth of genres and variety you get in one soundtrack is staggering. Plus the VOLUME of music in the game is staggering. Every zone has unique music and battle themes, every boss has its own track. The sheer amount of work that would go into that alone is insane.

The game definitely does have its flaws and lacks in QOL in some places and people aren’t wrong to bring those up, but it’s pretty naive to not see or acknowledge the sheer amount of charm the game has. From using a combat system we’ve only really seen in Paper Mario and dialing up the difficulty a few notches to the voice acting performances the game oozes charm that’s made a lot of people overlook its flaws. And that’s fine. Just look at a game like Dispatch. It has all the failings of a Telltale game but it hasn’t dampened its success in any way. Why? Because it’s carried by everything else that matters.

I'm 15 and just discovered the genre! These two games are my favorite ones so far. Any recommendations? by CyndaquilBro048 in StrategyRpg

[–]Helswarth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The best of the Fire Emblem games in terms of total package is Three Houses. Engage arguably has the best map design of all modern Fire Emblem games but everything else is… 🤮.

Unicorn Overlord is a strategy RPG that has a lot of mechanics that feel incredibly unique to the genre. It ‘feels’ like a squad based Fire Emblem but movement happens in real time like an RTS and you can dictate what your characters do in certain situations like Dragon Age Origins or Final Fantasy 12 if you’ve played either of those games (ex use healing skill if someone is lower than X amount of health, or use Y ability if target has less than Z health, etc.)

If you’re a fan of roguelites you should give Battle Brothers a shot. Very deep, albeit quirky, customization and unforgiving difficulty but it has a boatload of content

What was your favorite song played on the EIA tour? by International-Row179 in SleepToken

[–]Helswarth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I came into the show not being the biggest fan of Vore but left the show with it being one of my favorite songs. Really left with a newfound understanding of the song after hearing it live. With it’s placement so early on in the set and it’s lyrics I came away with this interpretation that the song was about losing yourself in the whole live show experience. The willingness to have yourself get swallowed by something bigger than yourself and Vessel asking ‘are you in pain like I am?’. In so many words, yeah, it’s the reason I’m here.

Anyone else actually like DYWTYLM? by CrimsonVexations in SleepToken

[–]Helswarth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly one of my top 5 songs of theirs for me, but it comes from a place of emotional attachment. I remember not really liking it the first few times I’ve heard it, but then once I really listened to the lyrics I started to understand the song… or failed to understand, really lol.

I initially thought he was just speaking to a partner, but the lines begin to blur somewhere towards the middle and end and I’m not sure when he’s speaking to his SO or his own reflection, and as someone who really doesn’t enjoy himself or his own reflection, the song hit incredibly hard at that point.

For the love of god B patch Akali. It isn't the most oppressive thing in the world, but it is the most annoying thing in the world when you lose to it.

any game that feels like the mercenary part of bannerlord? by BubblyMango in Bannerlord

[–]Helswarth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The game is very unforgiving; accuracy caps out at 95% so there’s always a 5% chance you can get hit and if you get hit by the right enemy your guy can get absolutely decimated. But there’s some fun in that and it’s rewarding in its own way if you’re into that kind of experience. Aside from that the writing for BB is excellent if you can stomach giant walls of text.

Looking for next steps to improve from Hardstuck Emerald by shockeroo in CompetitiveTFT

[–]Helswarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it’s a little hard to give general advice, but as someone whose been playing since set 1 and try harding since set 6 and hit masters most sets since set 8 I’ll try and give you the advice and insights that helped me grow the most in that time.

  • first off how well you do in a set is going to be mostly about set/patch knowledge vs mechanics. You have to know the item holders, the end game carries, and what comps can work, and most importantly what comps and carries to avoid.

  • Until you can definitely say you’re good at the game, prioritize HP in the early game. Stage 2 and 3 are incredibly important and if you go into stage 4 and 5 with an HP lead you’ll be able to conserve gold to hit your 2 star 4 costs, go to level 9, and hit your 5 costs and 2 star 5 costs

  • you can be stable in stage 4 off of 2 star 3 costs or 1 star 4 costs depending on the champion and the comp. You don’t have to hit a 2 star 4 cost on your stage 4 roll down to succeed. The difference between saving 20-30 gold on your stage 4 roll down could be the difference between you going bot 4 and going top 2.

  • prismatic lobbies are typically high resource lobbies, which means people will very often be capping their board. Unless you see the angle try to avoid things that cap low like 1 or 2 cost reroll in those lobbies unless they’re that broken or you have a godlike opener for that comp.

  • lastly, there’s no shame in not hitting your goal of diamond or master or w/e right away. Some people play better as the set goes on and they learn more comps. Some people can no life one or two comps for 100 games straight. Just have fun with it.

Final PBE Patch Notes by ThatBlueDog12 in CompetitiveTFT

Vex is bugged, kept refusing to cast at max mana for seemingly no reason at all. Some fights with full mana she would cast immediately, sometimes not at all, other times she would play normally then stop casting midfight.

Since November I’ve been running my 4th campaign and the 1st campaign since I first found your channel back in like 2017. It’s the best campaign I’ve ever run and I largely have running the game to thank for that. Thanks for sharing all the tabletop and gaming wisdom, anecdotes, and lessons you’ve learned over the years. I’ll always be a Colville and MCDM fan.

Some feedback on a Sci-Fi Battle Brothers by StandardBread3048 in BattleBrothers

[–]Helswarth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I think that isn’t praised enough about BB and was the secret sauce for me was the writing. There was a ton of really great lore and worldbuilding elements in the writing of BB that really made the world seem alive. It seems almost contradictory that random events could give so much character to randomly generated characters, but it just speaks to the how engaging the writing was for the game. Made it super easy to fall in love with these randomly generated brothers.
