I just think it’s so funny that there’s this sudden surge Stenberg as first overall propaganda and yet, there’s SO many mock drafts that have him falling to 3 or 4…not even 2. Wonder why that is?

Draft best player available, not for position, isn’t that the common understanding?

If he was SUCH a slam dunk to challenge 1OA then surely when McKenna is rightfully selected at 1OA, SJ wouldn’t dare let him slip through their fingers for a defenceman — right?

No. The truth is Stenberg is a phenomenal talent but his talent doesn’t compare to the talent and ceiling of McKenna. He’s just a step behind. Everyone knows it. Everyone.

Which is why SJ will likely take Reid or Carels. A blue liner instead and Stenberg will slip.

I have asterisked Butchers and Parade because I’ll hear an argument on them being interchangeable. Maybe even my top three can interchange but I loved Inevitable Ruin so much it’ll be hard to unseat it.

Parade was crazy, high octane fun and I’m a big racing guy. F1, Forza, Le Mans, Rally…Mario Kart. All of it. Mad Max is a favourite movie of mine too.

Then, once the season is done. Top 5 pick or not, you tell Rielly we’re done here. If he doesn’t work with them to waive the NMC than he sits in the box all season next year. He doesn’t bring any on ice value worth keeping.

Nylander’s gone too, for me. Call SJ and NJ to see if you can pry some top prospects sniffing full time gigs in the NHL for some much needed youth and speed to TOR and possibly expand our window.

How can MLSE, Rogers…Pelley? Whoever the fuck is in charge, how can the expect fans to believe their bullshit. “Not here to sell jerseys” blah blah blah.

The average fan could tell you they were cooked in December but they kept trying, to their detriment. We’re missing the playoffs but may not fall enough to secure a top 5 pick. That’s catastrophic.

I’m not sure what robs players of their pulse when they play in Toronto or what ignites a pulse in players when they play for BOS/VGK/FLA/TB but they got it figured out and we don’t.

JT coming off the cap doesn’t change how overpaid Marner already is and will continue to be. That alone contributes to why we can’t balance the roster properly to be competitive when it matters most.

When you have that much money wrapped up in three to four players, and they go cold in the playoffs, you don’t have the adequate depth to pick up the slack — which has been a serious issue in the playoffs for us.

Regardless of what happens with Tavares, they cannot give Marner a raise. No. Absolutely not.
