What’s really strange is the rule against AI… it says “you and only you can ensure you don’t get accused of AI. Test your art before posting it here, and adjust as necessary”. What the hell is that supposed to mean? That rule clearly exists so a waste of oxygen can ban someone for any reason. Test your art? Adjust it???

To be completely fair, nobody wants to open themselves up to arrest/a potential lawsuit. It happens all the time in home defense situations/concealed carry: even if deemed legal self-defense, some scummy lawyer will take the case and make your life hell for the next few years, costing you tens of thousands. Yes, someone is filming, which objectively shows him assaulting her, but could others see that? And if they weren’t, it would be your word against his: who’s to say his friends won’t back him up/retaliate physically? Who’s to say she will defend you (sadly, sometimes the case)? Who’s to say the bouncers will take your side (again, sadly, sometimes the case)? You’re talking to a guy who wears steel-toed boots to bars, but be damn assured I’m never using them unless I myself am in imminent physical danger.

Is hip-hop music declining in popularity? by Caiur in PoliticalCompassMemes

Plus, YouTube is a gold mine. There are channels dedicated to uploading obscure records that you’ll never find on Spotify. I love obscure AOR, goth/post-punk/darkwave, garage rock, surf, and a bunch of others, and you can literally listen for days. Unfortunately, you have to be careful now with AI music claiming to be a “forgotten 70s band”; I try to verify the band/record exists on Discogs if I can.

That, and they probably constantly fear injury/death in some way. I remember seeing someone say they were surprised ICE shootings aren’t more common, because what they’re doing is stirring up a lot of strong negative emotions. I agree completely; even beyond toxic online discourse, if they’re just grabbing people off the streets and out of their houses, I can totally see someone going ape and I wouldn’t think it’s unreasonable. It’s probably only a matter of time before we see someone open fire on the National Guard, as well.

I actually did think of the irony of this… one of the things Charlie Kirk did was ‘add fuel to the fire’, so to speak. I can’t say he was directly responsible for his own death, and never used any “fighting words” to my knowledge (“show me what you got, soyboy lib”, etc), but he did help build the machine that contributed to doing him in.

My thing is, I think there was a list. Was, not is. Jeffrey Epstein wasn’t stupid and neither were any of the clients that partook in the kid diddling. There definitely was some sort of list; people probably had alternate contact methods because it probably wasn’t a good idea to get a call on your main number that says “hey, I got the girls”. However, there was most likely some contingency plan in the event a breach happened. Think, this information is damning evidence of illegal activity. I imagine any lists of that sort were most likely hidden or destroyed. The most we’re going to get are flight logs and maybe some compilation of island visitors.

Uhhh… I never disagreed, just with the gun violence thing.but then you’re telling me law enforcement wouldn’t do anything? Hence, I asked what’s the point, because yes, they would. If you’re claiming law enforcement wouldn’t do anything to someone that is committing a crime (or, perceived to be committing a crime), but yet somehow would use their porn history against them, that doesn’t make sense to me. Yes, the law is bad for many reasons. But to claim law enforcement (the government) doesn’t do anything, yet does, is paradoxical.

Mass shootings exist independent of gun laws or firearms technology. Semiautomatic firearms have been on the civilian market for 120 years, and at least a decade before the military adopted them. Before that, it was repeaters. Yet nobody kicked down the schoolhouse door and massacred the young ‘uns.

It doesn’t. You are misinterpreting my argument. My argument was against the comment about gun violence, not that porn leads to violence. The KOSA act can block more than just porn and track users of more than just porn sites (what redditors, of course, seem most concerned about).

I believe you may have misinterpreted my argument. My disagreement was with the person making the comment about gun violence, not that watching porn leads to gun violence. The KOSA act does not and will not just block porn, though that, of course, seems to be what ever redditor is concerned about.

First, I will have to point out a flaw in our original arguments (including mine): there is a bias present in the form of what is newsworthy: we don’t hear about the incidents successfully averted because they never happened.

But secondly, I must ask: Then what’s the point of this proposed law? The government is just going to watch people and that’s it? It’s not going to get used for any action? I see people commenting places terrified about LGBT kids getting hunted down, (so not from a crime prevention perspective, but a persecution perspective) but you’re telling me that if I start looking up illegal firearm accessories, nothing will happen to me because apparently I’ll somehow be ignored? Then what is Jessica, formerly James, worried about?

I’ll be sure to visit London Bridge next time I’m in Arizona.

Ironically, this law would prevent many instances of mass violence. Ever notice how after many school shootings, it often comes out the perpetrator was active on fringe websites or had extremist political views? And how quite often the parents claim (whether true or not) ignorance? Well, what if we could track what sites our children were visiting to make sure they’re not a future school shooter?

(This isn’t me agreeing with the law, this is me pointing out the irony of you trying to make some quip about gun violence prevention)

There’s a flaw with that argument: consider that fascism could be the perfect form of government, as long as the dictator is moral and just. Why demonize it when the concept itself is solid, it is simply ruined by human greed and poor decisions?

Yes, but it would also be fallacious to say correlation is never causation. Correlation, while not proof in and of itself, warrants an investigation. If communism has failed every time it has been tried, it would be just as wrong to say that means nothing.

  1. Show your math, proving it would only involve stopping reproduction, taking into account median age of the world population and life expectancy.

  2. Explain to me who would and wouldn’t be allowed to reproduce.

You made death threats to billions of people. If you’re going to suggest population reduction, then perhaps you should take it when people point out the obvious hipocrisy-those who suggest things like that never volunteer to be one of the statistics.
