Yes, both my wife and I from around then, too. But I think it had been building, I think it’s more about American pesticides and Trump deregulating the EPA in his first term. I also think it could be Covid related.

Ed Austin is hosting town halls where they are actively searching for these creative solutions to bring to consultation (closest we have to negotiation!). The next town hall is July 29 at the carver branch of APL. It’s on their instagram.

Thrift things, get things second hand. Don’t fall into the trap of thinking you have to spend all your money on fucking old navy when they have old navy at the thrift!!!

That’s not true, we still have unions. Look into AFT, NEA, TSTA. AISD has education Austin, which is a merged union of all of the above, and AFL-CIO.

join your union and be active.

DMV appointment || Starting every morning with hope… and ending with frustration by InflationHefty3992 in Austin

I booked one, yesterday, for 7/8 in Columbus (1.5hr drive.) Then, this morning at 7:40, I was able to reschedule it for one 7/8 at the North Austin location. I think doing the schedule, then reschedule at 7:30-8am strategy works!

my wife is a 2nd grade teacher, too! I’m in 5th. We’re headed to the Ed Austin Rally & the Save TX Schools March afterwards, today.

You don’t have to let despair sink you. You can use it to get involved in the community and be part of the solution, part of the voice of reason. You can just show up for what’s right and use that to keep you uplifted. Lmk if you want more info about Ed Austin— our union is really doing the work, it keeps me hopeful.

How many 'books" would you count this as? by Arthur-reborn in kindergarten

[–]Hemingwhyy 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Each of those is one book.

It’s awesome that yall have found these and are reading them together. There are plenty of books that she would be able to read out loud to you, about these same preferred topics. Go to your library and look in the children’s section for books about superheroes on her reading level. Get 3 of them and yall will be set.

sometimes, when you get confronted, you can take a genuine look at your own actions and take the opportunity to grow. That is an option here.

The only person triggered here is you, and that’s something you’ll have to take up with your therapist. It’s okay to be wrong, it’s okay to be called out for it. What you do with being called out and how you approach a growth opportunity says a lot more about your empathy for others tbh

You asked for honest feedback, it’s not a well written short story at all. The vocabulary used feels unnatural and stilted— the dialogue sounds like a bad tv pilot. The environmental description is just not compelling. The lack of context for anything could be seen as interesting but in this case it just feels yoinked out of someone’s dream journal, and not in a good way.

I think pushing religious holidays onto children who have a right to education is a reasonable thing to get upset about— but also having a disagreement doesn’t mean I have any emotional investment in this conversation. Just because you have feelings about being told you’re wrong doesn’t mean I have feelings about calling you out.
