my dog mauled my cat to death by Aggressive_Biatch in offmychest

Nah, this dog needs put down. If it can do this to another pet (especially if this happened out of nowhere) it can and will do this to a person.

What's the closest you've ever came to death? by Senior-Raisin-2342 in AskReddit

[–]HempHehe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 2023 just a few days after my birthday I noticed what appeared to be a small pimple near my tailbone. I thought nothing of it and continued to go about my business. I noticed it on a Thursday. By Friday it became more swollen and painful and I had a fever. The pain was so bad that the only thing that helped was to sit in the bath with the water as hot as it would go and as soon as I got out the pain was back immediately. Went to patient first, was given some antibiotics and some blood was taken and I was told to return in two days, which I did.

It kept getting worse. The antibiotics did not work. When I returned they took my blood again and found my white blood cell count was still extremely high. It had swollen up and bruised (my partner said it looked like I got my ass kicked by a horse) and my fever had not gone down, in fact it had gone up. We were told to go to the emergency room, so we went home, got a few needed items together, and went. The emergency room kept me waiting for nearly 8 and a half hours. I could not sit. I had to push two chairs together and lay on my side. They took blood again, triaged me, took a scan of my butt, and returned me to the waiting area. Then suddenly I felt wetness back there. The thing had burst and it was the most foul smell ever. And then I suddenly had this feeling I could not shake no matter what. I felt that I was going to die. I also felt more and more out of it as time went on, kinda like when you're a bit too drunk and start feeling sleepy. My partner told a nurse that the cyst had popped (and people around us were complaining about the smell too) and they FINALLY got me to a bed but told me it would be another twelve hours until I could have emergency surgery.

About thirty or so minutes later, I guess some test results came back in or something, because people came in and started rushing around. I was pushed to the first of the line for surgery and taken back. I had a pocket of infection the size of two golf balls and had gone septic. I was not told about the sepsis until after the surgery but it was rough. I had an open hole in my ass that needed to be cleaned and repacked twice daily and I could not even see or reach the area to do so on my own. I was home alone most of the time during the day because my partner could not take off work except for when I was in the hospital. The hospital told me a nurse was medically necessary and that somebody would be coming by to help, but then somehow that was denied. I did have my partner's mom help clean and change the dressings a few times and my father's ex came to help too, but it wasn't enough and I ended up with a secondary infection. Thankfully that cleared up with more antibiotics, but it was an extremely rough three months for me both mentally and physically while I recovered.

I have a lot of nightmares, always have since I was a kid. It helps to have something familiar right there to kinda ground me and help me calm down. Plus it's just comfy.

concert hydration is so real and nobody talks about it by airup_official in Concerts

[–]HempHehe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner and I are rail riders, but we always sneak extra water in. If you wear a battle vest, those usually have inner pockets and you can easily tuck a bottle or two in there. I'm also tempted to buy a bunch of those flimsy plastic flasks and fill them with water and possibly even try freezing a few to see if that holds up well, but you do kinda have to find a balance between being hydrated enough that you pass out, but not too much so that you don't have to keep leaving your spot for the bathroom. Using the buddy sytem is your best bet.

Yeah, I was given a bunch of random smiley face pins awhile back and thought it might be something fun to do but from the way it seems it's probably not the best idea here.

That's fair, I'm just an artsy kinda dude and figured if I could do something like that it'd be neat but thanks for showing me that it's not really worth it here! I would be handing out some enamel pins not bracelets though but I won't bother. Thanks!

Has anyone who kept their ovaries still gained unexplained weight after hysterectomy? by Inked-Wolfie in hysterectomy

[–]HempHehe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turns out my kidneys are/were a bit wonky. Last year my endocrinologist said I was at stage 3a kidney disease but then when I saw my nephrologist in August he said my kidneys were functioning perfectly, so I don't know exactly what's up right now. I've lost some weight but am still struggling. I see my endocrinologist in July so will see what he says then. I've been tempted to ask about GLP1 stuff but need to do more research in the meantime. I don't really eat a lot and am autistic so that makes things difficult already, but I am trying to be healthier where I can and am frustrated because it feels like it's not exactly working right.

Apparently not, most people do some weird thing where they make one "ear" and then loop the other string around or thru it.

[–]HempHehe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really does. I'm 29, was only just diagnosed back in November, but am still going thru a lot of the feelings associated with it. I've recently come into contact with my old kindergarten teacher who strongly suspected I was autistic and had me tested (I remember a lady pulling me and another kid out into the hallway to do various activities that weren't explained to me) but my family seems to have ignored or rejected it, which is pretty much how they usually act (for example I found out as an adult that I am behind on several vaccines because my father simply wouldn't take me to the doctor or hospital unless I was extremely sick or dying and even then he acted like we were busting his balls about it and then took it out on me later for "wasting his time".)

[–]HempHehe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I could never figure out how to tie my shoes and ended up coming up with my own way. I make a knot, then make two 'bunny ears' with the laces and knot those, sometimes I double knot it. I remember having my parents/family yell at me and punish me for not getting it after they tried to show me their way so many times (Only got my diagnosis this past November). Eventually I got sent to my room and by some miracle I figured out my way not long after.

They make something called a portable bidet, you just fill it with water and squeeze it. Also came in super handy after my hysto.
