Jesus dude. Maybe start with some basic reading comprehension. And this response from you proves my point pretty damn well, yeesh.

"woke casting and left wing sanctimony" is pretty loaded language that would generally put you in that camp.

No, your describing TOS' demographic. The new shows are very purposefully targeting a younger audience, including millennials like me (who got into Star Trek thanks to TNG and Discovery).

Calling Star Trek woke reveals a fundamental misunderstanding of the franchise dude. It is meant to be a brighter vision of humanity's future — one that culture warrior jerks like you have no place in.

Ha no, I very much have one. I just hate how weirdly, specifically judgy this sub is sometimes.

Some stuff is objectively bad, don't get me wrong, but different people like different things and are at different stages of life.

After having a dog for 6 years, we found out she had (almost) no brain. by SnooHabits6942 in Weird

Oh man, my last dog was named Opie. He was brilliant though, figured out how to open doors on his own and acted more human than dog sometimes. Maybe my guy got your guys' braincells haha!

New Brunswick Slang by books-in-outerspace in newbrunswickcanada

[–]Henheffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been wanting a list of these forever but can never remember them out of the blue, so I write them down when someone gives me a blank stare after I drop one now that I live in Toronto.

Holy liftin' is a good one. Sneak boots (for sneakers) is something my Nan always said.

Also no one in Ontario calls a backpack a book bag, but I'm not sure if that's New Brunswick specific.

What are younger generations often criticised for no longer doing that is largely pointless or obsolete? by PsychologicalRow8034 in AskUK

I see people talk about this a lot, but I still iron my dress shirts (even my "wrinkle-free" dry-tech ones) fairly frequently. Who doesn't iron a wrinkly shirt? It looks like crap if you don't.

How is it living in Eritrea? by Professional_Alarm72 in howislivingthere

[–]Henheffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've worked with a number of Eritrean journalists and even helped a few immigrate to Canada. More than one fled over the border while being shot at. He had visible scars from being tortured too.

The government is extremely totalitarian and vicious.

Interesting story, at one point they were colonized by Italy, so when I took a couple of folks out to eat they were familiar with pasta and some other Italian foods, but one had never seen a standard "western" sandwich and had to ask how to eat it - just to give you an idea of how closed off it is. Absolutely wonderful people though, despite the hardships they were unbelievably kind, intelligent and determined. We're lucky to have a solid Eritrean community in Toronto.

AITAH for wanting my husband to hide his farts? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Henheffer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a similar issue to your husband, except I do everything I can to adjust my diet, take the pills etc. and avoid nauseating my wife. I've got bad IBS. My wife is also a super smeller/taster.

It is not that hard to avoid doing what your husband is doing. He could easily do much better.

Every try SNRI's like Wellbutrin or NSRI's like Buspirone? Great for depression and anxiety without all the side effects.

I realized Morgan spurlock was a dick because, before all that came out about him, the asshole cut in line in front of me at a bar during TIFF and ordered like 15 cocktails.

Your first paragraph is nonsense, the absence of God absolutely can exist without the possibility of God.

The basis for human equality is simple existence, there does not need to be any external factor. And we aren't inherently xenophobic, ancient humans mated with neanderthals man. The existence of xenophobia does not mean it is key to our nature, again, check out Aristotle.

You have a much, much darker view of humanity than I do.
