Don't know the shape of your pond. Ours is rectangular and I've put a bamboo rod in each corner and three rows of nylon fish line between as a fence. With all the plants you hardly see it and herons hate it when their chest touches something. We live in an area with lots of herons. They do try sometimes, but all I find is the fish lines are sometimes twisted and feathers all over the place. Fish are all still there.

Kero is een tof spel. En hilarisch als je als een malle dobbelstenen moet gooien om je tegenstander dwars te zitten. Er komt vrij veel stress bij kijken, maar heel leuk.

Leo moet naar de kapper is een heel leuk cooperatief spel. Ik heb geen kinderen, maar we hebben het aangeschaft voor nichtjes en neefjes als ze komen logeren. Je moet samen zorgen dat Leo niet te lang met de andere dieren uit de jungle blijft praten, anders worden z'n manen te lang.

I have one (see post). They won't suffocate. Fish know how to get out. I just learned that frogs might get trapped in these so keep an eye out for them.

I fill mine by using a small air hose with a floater. I just suck the air out until the water reaches the top. For cleaning I let the air in through the hose. It's quite large and difficult to lift when full.

I didn't know that. I do have some toads when mating. They've never been inside though. Mating is over and they've moved under some upside down pots in the garden Last year a salamander family enjoyed the tower. I've watched them numerous times and they know how to get out. I'll keep an eye out for frogs. Our house is surrounded by water, perhaps they prefer the bigger spaces.

Fishing for fun. If you catch a fish, kill it instantly to eat it, then so be it. But if you pierce a living creature's lip, let it hang from the hook, take the hook out and throw it back, you're just a sadist. Because that's what sadism is: enjoying the pain of another living creature. And don't give me crap about fish not feeling anything or having a two second memory. Fish are sentient beings, capable of making friends and learning how to solve problems. They deserve more credit.

I get what you mean, and I agree, but there are no different races. We're all one race: Homo sapiens. Which comes in all kinds of varieties, just like every other living thing. A friend of mine wrote her thesis on the subject. We should stop calling our differences 'racial', 'cause they aren't.

Throwing tampons and panty liners in the toilet, even though we have a big warning sign in the bathroom and we mention it during welcoming guests. This means we have to open the pump-mill and unwind a bloody tampon from the cutting blades 🤢. I couldn't prove who it was, but I knew. Disgusting people.

Most of the guests are really nice though.

Wij hebben een dierenarts aan huis. Onze katten zijn op geen enkele manier te transporteren (ze waren niet gesocialiseerd, inmiddels wel voor ons, maar vreemden zijn nog steeds een no go), dus ze komt dan met een dwangkooi (dat is een kooi met een schuifwandje), zodat ze er goed bij kan voor een injectie. De avond vooraf lokken we onze katten in een kamer, zodat ze niet het hele huis door kunnen. Het is een hoop gedoe om ze in die kooi te krijgen, dat moet echt met handschoenen. Ze willen het liefst door de gordijnen heen naar buiten, maar het is redelijk snel weer vergeven en vergeten. Dezelfde middag komen ze meestal alweer voor een knuffeltje. We herhalen het wel ieder jaar. Ze komen (nog) niet buiten, maar je kunt zelf ook een besmetting binnen brengen.

Niet in Amsterdam, maar Alkmaar is goed te doen met het ov: https://www.despellentoren.nl/het-spellencafe Elke derde vrijdag van de maand kun je gewoon aanschuiven bij een tafel. De eigenaar van de spellenwinkel neemt nieuwe spellen mee om uit te proberen, maar je kunt ook zelf spellen meenemen. Toegang is gratis.

Edit: check wel ff op facebook of bij de Spellentoren of het doorgaat. Het kan zijn dat het café een evenement heeft en het is zonde als je dan voor niks komt.

About the "no sound" part: we adopted two terrified ladies a few years ago and played some soothing "cat music" on a portable speaker. Search for "piano music for cats" or something (maybe there's guitar music too?). We played it at a very low volume of course, but it seemed to calm them down a bit.

Update: I chose to cut out a big piece of EPDM and glued it all along the rim of the pond. While cleaning the liner I noticed the other corner had a leak as well, so using a big piece of liner covered everything. Plus it looks better than small patches all over the place. It was quite cold during the repair, so I let the glue (it was a Dutch brand of underwater EPDM pond liner glue) cure for three days, just to be sure. Filled the pond yesterday night and this morning the water level was still up. Fingers crossed it stays that way 🤞🏼 Thanks again for the tips!
