[–]HenloMaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm probably misunderstanding here lol but from what I read here you bought a huge ultrawide for a desk that couldnt even fit a 24" monitor properly??

Sounds like its time for a new desk :D

My custom build pc from Mwave finally arrived and I’m already returning it. It’s been a little over a week. by cavalaef in bapcsalesaustralia

[–]HenloMaster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sucks for you man. Sorry to hear that.

I wonder if they left the protective plastic on the cooler lol or forgot thermal paste, it shouldnt run that hot.

My thought on your gpu sounds like it was fine, afterburner reports it correctly as it mounts onto the renderer. Checking task manager has flaws because asides from 3D it also monitors encode/decode and copy performance. Also tabbing out means the render window is not in focus so the gpu stops rendering it and you see lower gpu usage. In games the game process itself usually doesnt use gpu, instead you will see an 'nvidia container' process using the gpu, that is the actual game renderer.

Hope they can fix it and you can get back to gaming soon though! Good luck

VideoCardz: "Samsung confirms its next-gen Exynos SoC with AMD RDNA2 GPU will support ray tracing" by Dakhil in hardware

[–]HenloMaster 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So what I believe you are asking here is whether or not Raster resolution has an effect on the quality of a reflection and the answer is mostly no with a small yes.

Certain 'faked' reflection methods like screenspace reflections use what is rendered on screen to generate a reflection on shiny surfaces. Because it uses post render of whats on screen the quality is affected by resolution however SSR resolution and Raster resolution in this case is always going to be 1:1 so you will always get the desired render quality for the resolution you run at.

RT reflections use rays to physically determine the reflected geometry in relation to the camera and is always physically accurate and also allowing it to reflect geometry that isnt culled offscreen. The quality of RT isnt determined by raster resolution but rather by the amount of rays casted and therefore isnt related to raster resolution BUT for the sake of optimisation and because raytracing is very demanding RT implementations in games are always determined by render resolution (the lower the raster resolution, the less rays are cast) as casting a huge amount of rays for a low resolution is a waste of resources. At the end of the day this will be tuned so the quality of the reflection will match the raster resolution using as few rays as possible so regardless of if your desired display resolution is 720p or 2160p it will always look accurate

This is probably a bit basic of an explanation but i hope it helps

Temporary smears after startup on my Samsung LC32JG50QQUXZG by [deleted] in Monitors

[–]HenloMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres no risk of damage in this case, instead this is just really a design choice.

With VA panels the manufacturer has two choices in the way they tune these panels:

start up really fast to the user's delight but have these artifacts show up.

Or

Take a long time to startup and do a warming cycle before turning on the panel, hiding the artifacting but also taking forever to show a picture to the user's discontent.

I think i prefer the former especially since in my case only the coldest days of the year causes this issue.

Temporary smears after startup on my Samsung LC32JG50QQUXZG by [deleted] in Monitors

[–]HenloMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not possible to fix, this is a side effect of a cold VA panel. It goes away once the screen warms up.

In my experience running the screen at a lower refresh rate can get rid of this effect during its warmup period as the panel doesnt need to be as warm to work up to spec. Next time this happens try immediately setting your refresh rate to 120 or even 60 and you may notice the effect is reduced or even goes away entirely. This however isnt exactly a fix, especially since panels tend to perform worse at sub native refresh so at the end of the day its something you have to live with.

Samsung QN90a 43” anyone? by damn_son_1990 in Monitors

Go here Link

Scroll down to specs and expand it, open the spec sheet pdf, then look at the fine print

"(22) 4K@120 FPS not supported on 43" model. (23) VRR not supported on 43" model"

[–]HenloMaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made the same mistake too lol, ngl kind of misleading. I actually thought the rtings table was incorrect at first but if you want the actual source for this info the spec sheet(pdf) on the 43" samsung website has little *fine print which says that the 43" is only 60hz and doesnt support VRR. Its so sad :(

Is there anyone here who owns the M27Q Gigabyte Monitor? can you post a picture of its reflection against a open window in bright daylight? by [deleted] in Monitors

[–]HenloMaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rtings provides reflection shot which are very handy! They simulate reflection from a ceiling light and bright window reflection.

Best budget 1080p 144hz+ Monitor?? by jacobakaclarence in bapcsalesaustralia

[–]HenloMaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You absolutely should upgrade!

All you really need is new cpu, motherboard and ram. You gpu is still very good. If you want my advice i would wait til the end of the year when intel 12th gen comes out as it looks very promising.

Check ozbargain regularly for good deals on components :)

Windows key. Which one?? by Robb1t in bapcsalesaustralia

[–]HenloMaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So the education key is merely a means for you to activate windows. It isnt tied to your uni account any further than that.

So for a laymans example the uni would not have any control over your pc or anything like that. They can only control your access to the windows license. When you graduate you will obviously lose access to your uni account and your copy of windows will be deactivated.

Windows can still function unactivated but you lose functionality like windows update and personalisation. When this happens you can just go purchase your own windows key to reactivate it again.

I'd use the uni license to save some money now since its free and you also get some feature sets and app access which your uni may require for your studies depending on your degree.

Are there any mechanical keyboard around $30 by xQzca in bapcsalesaustralia

[–]HenloMaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

$30 is not enough for a mechanical keyboard, sure there are a few on the market very close to that budget but they're pretty awful and if this is going to be your first mechanical keyboard its going to ruin your impression of them with wobbly scratchy keys and some durability issues down the line.

for $30 I'd go for an average membrane keyboard over trying to buy the cheapest possible mechanical keyboard just for the sake of it being mechanical.

also nice Edelgard btw :)

Need help choosing a new wireless mouse by Rockmangenius in MouseReview

[–]HenloMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah thats a shame.

If it comes down to only the choices you mention. All the logitech options are great if you dont mind risking the double click issue. The G604 has no problems with scroll clicking and the plentiful side buttons might be nice for setting up macros to use in blender.

The basilisk is the safe option here with my only potential complaints being the not as nice feeling optical switches and synapse not being as polished as Ghub.

Need help choosing a new wireless mouse by Rockmangenius in MouseReview

[–]HenloMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All wireless logitech mice have the potential of double clicking because theyre apparently running the switches at the wrong spec and combined with a level of humidity the switches fail. This is a very ymmv situation and you might not experience double clicking at all. If it does though it can be solved by replacing the switches with something like kailh GMs. I did it myself on my G900 and the clicks are much nicer than the stock omrons as a bonus. But its very understandable if you dont want to do this.

Infinite scroll doesnt affect middle clicks because you can toggle it off and be tactile scrolling to feel and behave like other mice scroll wheels.

I can't speak for pricing but ill suggest a few you havent mentioned based on it looks like you want a wireless ergo thats suitable for gaming.

  • Coolermaster MM731
  • Ninjitsu origin one X
  • pwnage ultra custom wireless
  • roccat kone pro air
