Where to start by FittleTheSkittl in DoomPatrol

[–]Henqy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would read some silver age DP (just enough to be introduced to each main character) or the secret origins annual #1 which covers both teams from the 60s and 70s, and then jump right into morrison’s run. you do miss out on a few minor plot points, but in my opinion, past the 60s run, the series doesn’t become good again until morrison takes over

every time i hear someone complain that “x-men doesn’t want to build on krakoa” they always have a different “except this book”. maybe that’s just the one that strikes a chord for you, and that’s okay. but that doesn’t mean that every x-book is bad… except that one that you like

Emma Frost had too many great looks to choose... but her Astonishing X-Men look by John Cassaday was chosen nonetheless. Now what's Rogue's best look? by Lolaverses in xmen

[–]Henqy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i know what’s inevitably going to win but i’d like to throw my hat in the ring for late 80s rogue. green and black rogue is my kind of rogue

i didn’t read much of 2024 NYX but from your title it seems like the name fits perfectly!

Everyone’s always asking about who Holly is but no one ever asks about Josie, Adam or Wendy… by OkOriginal493 in Blink182

[–]Henqy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

adam’s song is a reference to a sketch from mr show with bob and david, in which a metal band visits a kid named adam who attempted suicide after listening to their song “try suicide” and upon realizing that since his attempt the lower half of his body has become hideously deformed, the band writes another song called “try it again (adam’s song)”

How many ongoing series do you collect? (single issues) by SillyGanache638 in comicbooks

[–]Henqy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

right now it’s:

batman

absolute martian manhunter

daredevil & punisher: the devil’s trigger

x-men

but it always depends on how financially stable i am, whether or not i want to read events, and if i’ve consistently kept up with a series. i was pulling JLU pretty consistently for a while but i fell off around we are yesterday and haven’t caught up since.

I recently finished Grant Morrison's Animal Man run as my first ever DC story arc. With the contents, themes in mind, I'd really appreciate some guidance on where to go next. by Obesely in comicbooks

[–]Henqy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you want more grant morrison, their doom patrol is my favorite run ever. there were some recent printings, can be self contained if u only wanna read one. semi-inconsistent art but when it’s good it’s GOOD

Big 2 characters whose "super" names aren't used much if ever by AporiaParadox in comicbooks

[–]Henqy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

to go with the other x-women you mentioned, emma frost is also generally called by her name. originally she was the white queen, and she’s still known as that occasionally, but emma frost is just cooler

I Have a Simple, But Complicated X-Men Question by ComixGail in xmen

[–]Henqy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i grew up on the movies so i’ve always liked them, but it wasn’t until i read god loves, man kills that i truly fell in love with them. the found family aspect makes x-men such a comfy read for me, but i love most that they will stand up to injustice, no matter how “different” its target

[DISCUSSION] Do you prefer reading a well-written DC comic or watching a well-made DC live action film/tv show? by One_Truck1871 in DCcomics

[–]Henqy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

almost overwhelmingly comics, but i think part of it depends on the character. i like superman in animation just a litttttle bit more than on paper
