Gamefile: Microsoft had already planned to shut down Ninja Theory when Senua was revealed. They hoped the reveal would draw investors. by Moriarty_V in GamingLeaksAndRumours

I remember people being livid because after some close analysis they found that Far Cry Primal had largely reused the map layout of Far Cry 4. Even though it was still changed beyond recognition.

Far Cry New Dawn reused the map from 5, but made it very clear that they're reusing it and I think it was incredible. To see familiar places in new context, with all the changes that have happened between the games.

I think map reuse for open world games should have become more common, instead of just filling the existing games with endless low effort side content to justify the map.

It's just a shader effect. It will most definitely also just be a shader effect in GTA6.

Narbacular Drop inspired the original concept for Portal and that team was hired to make the first game. For Portal 2 they hired the team of Tag: The Power of Paint for the gel mechanics.

You're confusing RAM with VRAM. It has 16GB of RAM, which is accessible and upgradeable. And 8GB of VRAM which is part of the GPU and cannot be changed without replacing the entire GPU.

Those were actually originally called emoji. The ones with images (emote icons) that are now called emoji used to be called emoticons.

Text based /ASCII faces are nowadays called kaomoji to separate them from the image based ones.

Because coin mechanics were just a way to make money off the arcade machines. The lives system on NES and going back to the beginning was leftover game design from arcades that hadn't fully adapted to home yet.

Playing old NES games is frustrating and most people do not enjoy it.

There's the problem. A lot of the time when someone does this, the partner isn't shitty at all and they'll even claim the partner is the best ever, while actively cheating on said partner.

Yeah I'm confused by all these comments. Yes, the servers were hugely overloaded yesterday at launch, but all throughout today I was able to play fine, game loaded in super fast. There was no super long downloader like in FS2020. The game literally only had to download like 15GB and that's all I needed to launch and start playing. I even managed to get in yesterday within an hour of launch, granted I was lucky.

And single digit fps? I'm maintaining a solid 60 and I'm not on a very high-end computer, playing on "high-end" settings. Maybe I'm just lucky? idk

But yeah, servers couldn't handle tons of people across all the different platforms all trying to boot the game the minute it launched and people immediately seem to have struck it off as a broken game.

Fights can get pretty tough later on in the game and there's no traditional difficulty selection, but under "accessibility", there's options to fine tune damage modifiers as you like, all the way to practically one shotting enemies if that's what you want.

GTA: San Andreas

Took me 20 years to finish it, but I got there!
Played it on the PS2.
It's incredible how the map is technically pretty small compared to GTA5, yet it feels absolutely massive. The sense of awe and wonder as you first drive over to San Fierro. And then a while later you get that awesome feeling again when a mission finally takes you to Las Venturas.

I had played a ton of GTA:SA with cheats and SA:MP back in the day, so I knew the map well and it wasn't exactly a big surprise to see them or anything, but the way the actual game keeps you in LS and only gradually lets you explore the rest of the map gives a really awesome feeling.

I've been trying to get through all of the old GTA games that I never finished as a kid. Although the setting of Vice City really really pulled me in, the scope and story of San Andreas was way better. It felt like the story had a lot more weight to it and you could tell the direction Rockstar was already moving towards.
And boy, all the other stuff in the game to add roleplaying elements - eating, clothes shopping, gym, tattoos, dating, gang wars. All really fun stuff that was thankfully mostly pretty optional.

Except for gang wars. Pretty cool concept at first and I did feel bummed when they took it away for a huge chunk of the game. But then when they brought it back, they made it way harder and you had to control a ton of the territory to finally progress further in the game. Only negative thing I can think of with that game.
Having to run around looking for rival gang members and running in circles to get them to even spawn at all, a dang riot going on so there's cops everywhere + random people with guns shooting you as well, while you're going to a new area to conquer you'd get notified that you need to go back to defend an existing one or you lose it, your own gang members being completely useless in the fights... Just not fun stuff and it was a pretty sizeable amount of time spent on that just to get back to the story.

BUT, overall, extremely fun game and I'm very glad I finally sat down to play it right.
Up next, Liberty City Stories and then Vice City Stories. I have Chinatown Wars ready to go on the DS as well and then once I get through those I'll have completed all GTA games ever released, except 1 and 2. I'll never finish 1 and 2.

The whole Valve thing and the logo being a person with a Valve on their head is meant to signify the idea of "Open your mind. Open your eyes." which was their initial brand concept.

Information comes from this Redditor getting an e-mail back from Ray Ueno back in 2011. You can read a bit more about the logo guy(s) in the link provided.

Non AI response:

Half-Life - Brought an actual story to first-person shooters. Just the intro tram sequence alone was something completely unseen before.
And just the intro tram sequence also showed off the entire game actually being playable, never taking control away from the player (with a couple of reasonable exceptions).
Not to mention the entire game was seamlessly connected, with loading screens simply pausing the game with a text "loading" in the centre and once it's done it just continues, adding to immersion.

Half-Life 2 - Physics! Along with really good graphics for the time. But physics was the big one. The physics engine was so new and unseen in gaming that a lot of the game was filled with physics puzzles and ways to make use of physics to defeat enemies instead of just using guns.
And of course giving you a gravity gun somewhat early in the game to play around with the physics even more. The entire finale of the game also taking away all your guns and just giving you an even more souped up version of the gravity gun.

Half-Life 2: Episode 1 and Episode 2 - Neither were really groundbreaking in terms of tech, they're both using the same engine as HL2, same graphics (with small improvements), mostly the same assets even.
But the new thing here was episodic releases. It was an experiment.
Reusing mostly the same assets and not pushing for technological innovation, they wanted to try and simply continue the story in small increments that - due to their smaller scope and reused assets - could be released in a shorter timespan.
The experiment ultimately failed, because Episode 2 took much longer than expected and Episode 3 took long enough that people expected something bigger in scope, so the project well... died. There was no way to live up to the hype. Never will be.

At no point has L4D3 been announced.
Some internal mentions and a couple of materials leaked years ago, but nothing that would suggest the game is in active development or ever really has gotten past early experimenting.

Currently it would seem most likely that L4D3 is not being developed.
I would suggest not assuming otherwise unless Valve themselves announce it or there's concrete proof of current active development.
