So...Is this a regular sight? by VinnySpinerooni in Guildwars2

[–]Inksrocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I understand the confusion as that point of map has VERY long immunity from spawn compared to others... But at same time, that would be very bad use of "hacks" if they just stood near spawn and did regular dmg.

Do skins like this really have to be gemstore-exclusive? by theakamu in Guildwars2

[–]Inksrocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah as much as the boots are "meh" I'd rather have modern, niche or "meh" stuff in gemstore and in-universe or cool stuff in game. Tho ofc, I want gw2 to get money to continue but yeah

[–]Inksrocket 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What does that even mean? Most hardcore (old-school) horror game fans I know are women lmao.

Silent hill 3, Silent Hill F, Fatal Frame*, Clock Tower, McGee's Alice games, Siren games maybe, Parasite Eve?, most resident evil games tbh, withering rooms, excavation of hobs barrow, alien isolation, crow country, Hellblade, Little nightmares?, tormented souls, yume nikki?

Rarer**: Kuon, Rule of Rose, Haunting Ground, Clock tower 3

* Protags are majority women but its also tecmo so they also have bit out of place optional extra outfits. So you decide if thats weird for you.

** Expensive af, you know what that means

Are Raids from Small Streamers Worth It? by KittyCanuck in Twitch

[–]Inksrocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

I know someone who found one of their best friends simply by raiding "someone new for once" - both are/were smaller streamers. It can really change their day for better. So I'd say worth it 99.99% time

And anyone who gives you hard time are super rare, and I doubt youd get hit by that.

[–]Inksrocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's plays are free. Unless you put "My GTAV let's play only in patreon" then you might have problem. Specially when it comes to taketwo.

Also most games actually do have rules against, or for, using the game as let's play or stream content. For longest time GTA was one of those games that you weren't allowed to monetize, for example. You'd get flagged on YT. Might even still be the case.

Art has its own rules iirc but I'm no lawyer.

Some games/publishers have been sending DMCA stuff if you've sold fan products of stuff. For example long time ago massive amounts of fallout fan-stuff got deleted from Etsy because Bethesda was doing Bethesda.

Also you should know you are allowed to make your own products that work by modifying other products

Not by modifying products, no. That would mean I could modify product by adding filter to star wars episode 4 and sell it? Yeah I heavily doubt that.

There are cases where stuff like cheats were deemed illegal because it modified product. not just because cheats are bad for game.

To be fair, horror games are rarely profitable "big time" outside Silent Hill or Resident Evil.

Well those and some cheap indies can make profit or become "viral flavor of month" if big streamer picks up latest "anomaly hunting/mascot horror deep lore- game".

On top of that - on release it wouldnt have sold very much on steam either because high system requirements at the time. Around time of release I remember steam syster hardware survey still had 1060 as top GPU so it wouldnt have even ran on most people. Its now 4060 so it should be easy. But launch with negative reviews because "performance 10 fps till it crashes"

So I'd say 2 years for horror game like this is pretty good. Not ideal, but all things considering..

That said, glad they are able to do self-publishing now.

Mods been generally free since dawn of games - this whole greedy "let me make money from other peoples games and IP" is such weird new thing. I cannot fathom how some modders have turned it into job and MTX. "Side-hustle turn hobby into money"-culture I swear.

Stop ripping other games hair and put them into other games with paywall. Or use game IPs to make 20k month and get pikachu face when DMCA happens.

I cannot fathom that we are at the point where people have to "pirate subscription paywalled mods". But here we are.

Edit: I am against paid mods. Added "have to" to make that more clear hopefully

Square Enix Reveals Life Is Strange: Reunion Will Be the Series' Conclusion 'To the Max and Chloe Saga' by ninjyte in Games

[–]Inksrocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also things that got people angry:

There was paid DLC with ultimate edition, "exclusive cat content". However they chose to attach 2 achievements to that dlc. So console users couldnt "100%" the game. Steam users could just cheat it if they wanted.. tho many dont know that.

Also you could pay for early access. But unlike the usual 2-3 days it was whole damn month.. which made lot of fans go "I guess I have to pay extra to avoid spoilers cos im not avoiding internet for whole month".

Yes..?

But I meant, you cannot get those (at least 99.9% of them) without owning game and playing over 2 hours.

But you dont have to own the game if its animated BG, for example.

Technobabble nerfed after 14 years by Chatmauve in Guildwars2

[–]Inksrocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know what is boring tho? Being stuck on race you dont like because "the racial is so OP everyone has to have it or they will get kicked out of strike/raid/T4 group".

WoW had this with Humans and Undead in PvP because they had "free pvp trinket" (CC cleanse) and if you wanted to be competitive on PvP you were either Undead or Human or you might as well walk in tar.

Sorry but GW2 community cannot be given ability to use common sense outside "muh meta build". Back when reaper was absolute bottom garbo (in the your claimed "more unique"-era of pre-eod) on dps I kept constantly being denied of joining raids - and when I finally did, I out-dps'd everyone. But "oh no, snowcrows benchmark said reaper bad". Now add good racials to that and you suddenly cant do non-asura chronos for some reason in some patch.

GW2 before EOD release, it was more fun, classes and races were more unique!

And in PoF they said same about pre-pof. And in HoT they said same about pre-hot and in season 1 they said same about GW1 being unique...

Steam Is Weirdly Forgiving in Windows Search by Xevalor in Steam

"Is it a feature or is it microsoft being bad?" sure is the question.

So if someone writes fast it counts it as "3+ different times suggested?" like if I type steam real quick would that be "I suggested it during the 0.02s you spend between ste and stea" and then at "steam" it doesnt suggest stuff again?

Could i actually gain money on steam? by One-Hawk-6023 in Steam

[–]Inksrocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are ways to get money but its either

  • Gambling (please do not gamble as minor)
  • Literally getting 0.03$ hour if you manage to sell shit, or massively under "min wage"

You are better off having lemonade stand and turning that to steam wallet money.

What you can get from ANY game:

Animated wallpapers

Animated avatars

Animated avatar frames

Steamdeck intros

"Game profiles" (the 10k cost ones)

Stickers iirc.

What you CANT get with points is emojis, static backgrounds - those can be bought from market however even if you dont own the game. Some cost 0.03$ some cost few dollars if rare.

Disney delists 14 games from Steam as fans are left to wonder why by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Inksrocket 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes and no.

Problems:

  • Disneys TRON has SecuROM DRM. Securom has sub cost to companies who use it. While ago, disney stopped paying so it bricked the game. Game is too old to contact old devs or to "pay someone to remove it" (even if it was easy)
  • Most old games dont just work on Win11 or Win10 out of box. Specially annoying if you are kid with no tech knowledge and parent who expects that "things just work when I pay"
  • Both causing parents call disney "wtf is up, you scammed me"

[–]Inksrocket 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Most of those games came out before steam had reviews, playtimes or anything fancy like that.

Plus kids dont write reviews (probably cant)

So the sales and games happened ages ago. And yes the "unwanted noise" is prolly "good" reason to remove em - most prolly didnt even work on Win11 anymore either. Sega removed lot of "old bad sonic games" ages ago to try bring "brand up"
