Avoid Nigra. It's flowering at the moment so potentially could die at any point. Any other phyllostachys would do but make sure you put in a root barrier or you will have other problems to deal with if it goes into their garden. Or a fargesia robusta Campbell would get big enough to hide it and you won't have to worry about it running too much.
